You describe Christmas as a time to pause and find hope and the weird thing is that when I see you or watch you perform, I get that feeling from you, a feeling of hope and connection and wonder. Your eyes express such deep emotion and compassion and passion. You're such and talented man and have so much to offer in this life. Many people put down Catholics, but I'm Catholic, and I believe in Sola Scripture, and I believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God and died for my sins. Jesus I the way the truth and the life, not traditions, not rituals, not manmade church doctrines. Only being saved through grace alone in Christ will save us. I pray for everyone that they will accept Christ as their savior.
I don't mean to criticize but you may need to readdress your understanding of Sola Scriptura. The Catholic faith doesn't support Sola scriptura . The scriptures came out of the Church (50+ years after Jesus founded his Church, ) Tradition is a fundamental part of the passing on of faith for Catholics under the guidance of the apostolic Magisterium. These 3 arms Scripture, Tradition and Magisterium in unison are how the faith is passed on in the Catholic faith.

As much as I love Raul when he sings beautiful songs and has a God given voice, I don't believe some of the parts he plays are as he states in this interview. Raul is an extremely talented singer. But I think that Jim is more driven by the Lord for his choices. But God bless them both, as they are both very different, but both very gifted.

The baby in the manger we are not to rally around, the triumphant Christ we are to rally around.
