I do believe some contestants never came back, just as with The Crystal Maze. Is there not supposed to be a family from Kidderminster who are even now (2023) still trapped in the Aztec Zone?
Patrick Dowling was the producer behind this. He was also a producer for Vision On (Tony Hart & Pat Keysell). He emigated to Sydney Australia. Denise Coffey was well known in the 1970s and very funny.
Doctor Garry Hunt (formerly of NASA) an excellent broadcaster and scientist with the wonderful Denise Coffey - Mrs Black and her horrible handbag from "Do not adjust your set "
This is the cleverest I’ve ever felt watching The Adventure Game. The older man was dreadfully badly behaved towards Denise. He ignored anything she said, even when she was right, and called Toby away from her when they were working together. Against tough competition, he was the dimmest bulb.
they didnt use the transformer thing to convert ac to dc. its very old looking considering it was 1980 always thought denise was a sort of female spike milligan
Nice and gentle, with people wearing casual clothing who don't look as though they usually wear casual clothing ! They don't jump about, yelling and wetting themselves !
6 minutes into the long-winded explanation of how to solve the puzzle and then she says "but a bicycle dynamo only produces alternating current, and what we need is direct current."
@@limeyosu2000 It is an addictive show, even though I sometimes lose track of how they solve things, but then they don't show the whole puzzle-solving because it's only a 30-min show. Gronda! Gronda!
Yes, a comic actor famous for lots of radio work in the 70s (The Burkiss Way, I think) and the "End of Part One" on LWT at the end of the 70s. Possibly a bit wrong footed by the early 80s and the move back to more political and satirical comedy after the surrealism and absurdism of the 60s and 70s.
She was in effect the leader of the 'Do Not Adjust Your Set' team on ITV in 1968 that launched half of Monty Python and David Jason ... Also other stuff here and there as well.
They were particularly thick. The woman was just out of her league. They needed so much help the should have just abandon it, and got someone with a bit more up top.
This lot were not the sharpest tools in the shed
And when they got back to earth they placed the crystal maze

So much editing in this one, they must have been in there for days getting nowhere
If the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy made The Crystal Maze, it would be this.
The crystal maze was a direct later ripoff of this.
i get wat u mean ben, i think. a poor mans version of the crystal maze?
Douglas Adams was asked to create it, he was busy with the Hitchhikers guide!
The original escape rooms.

2024 and they are still there now trying to figure it out
Blimey series one was tougher than the later serieses. I loved watching these as a kid. Forerunner to Escape Rooms
My dogs are loving the first game!
Denise Coffey's got a touch of the Gail Platts about her 😂

A puzzle-based game show in which contestant earn crystals... This sounds somewhat familiar.
it was the first
"Mom can we get Crystal Maze?" "No we got Crystal Maze at home!" *Crystal Maze at home:
This was 1980 Crystal maze was till 10 years later. Crystal maze was based on Fort Boyard
This is Fun House without the fun!
" what are they like?" "Really bright!" 🤦♂️
I love how they blanked out the "Ever Ready" name from the battery.
they didnt use the transformer thing to convert ac to dc.

Yes, That is exactly right about Denise Coffey.
Where's the Vortex????
That would be Season 2 onward your Royal Highness. Gronda Gronda.
Loved this so much!

And the news reader at the time doing the meeting with the contestants.

@@simonjones7727 Thanks for the info. A bit before my time, but then fame is a fickle mistress and doesn't last forever.
Bloody terrible. Just bloody guessing
Like the simple computer graphics.
They won! Good for them.

The man in the glasses was very patronising and misogynistic.
Coffey is/was a very intelligent lady. She got the viper/adder/subtractor thing, for a start.
It's called "acting".
@@Snottgobler
I think she died last year.
Not trying to be a jerk but with a name like the adventure game i thought it would be more action then puzzle
Wow, that is the Daddy of air fryers!!
You need to try butter and mayonnaise on the outside slice too 🤤
