After saving up for weeks and weeks to buy a 3DO at the time, when I finally brought it home with my brother and we fired it up, the level of disappointment we had over the games was tragic. There were a few shining gems, though. Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Road Rash, Need for Speed, FIFA, Samurai Showdown. Can't say I played this one, though.
Just curious- Did you end up selling it? If so, what did you get back at the time? Also, my condolences on your purchase- It really was an exciting product for a time.
@@Trevelyan2 I did sell it, but many years later for way less money. It didn't take long for the thing to plummet in value after the console died. I think I sold it for 1/7th what I paid for it. It wasn't all terrible, though as I did have some fun with it.. Just wasn't worth the price of admission. Donkey Kong Country on the SNES felt more "next gen" than anything on the 3DO. It was a really interesting time in games and graphics. At the time, the holy grail was video compression and this is what developers were chasing until polygons sort of emerged as the "next gen" way of doing graphics. It was only until I played the original Virtua Fighter in arcades did I finally realize that the true 32-bit era was going to be ushered in by consoles capable of rendering polygons quickly. I look at the Jaguar, the 3DO, and FM Towns are sort of the beta versions of the true next gen consoles that were to emerge a little bit later. It's a good learning lesson as well that your hardware is only as good as the developers that create content for it. Cheers!
This video has a lot of memorability. Also, I bet he's gonna have to read like 300 names at the end of the video. I hope it keeps going till theres like 10,000 subscribers and the videos become five minute reviews and forty five minutes of just reading off new subscribers
Not sure if you were being sarcastic, but 'anaballs' are a play on words referencing anabolic steroids, as used by body builders to grow unnatural amounts of muscle tissue and allow them to train harder at the gym
@@Trevelyan2 no worries. To be fair, the terms 'anabolic' and 'catabolic' weren't really in my vocabulary until I started getting into fitness and suddenly every RUclips video I was looking at to learn how to do exercises was using those words constantly
Not sure how I found this place, probably one too many ativans and mindlessly going through them internets, but I am glad I did. I enjoy the videos, brothaman.
I played this a little bit in an emulator, but didn't really understand what I was supposed to be doing. However, I did like failing and getting kicked out so that I could hear the next snide comment by the redheaded tech. She was cute. :)
@@omegaXjammur Twenty hard-earned-kid-dollars well spent. Our rental spot would take a big deposit, but waived it the two times I was present for console rentals. #90'sClout

Come for the child abuse pics, stay for the roll call and sick jamz at the end. Snow Crash is a rad book but man it's dense. Today’s sponsor is Annaballs- Going over Trev’s head since 1995! 💪
anabolic steroids

Now imagine what unholy method of propulsion Psycho Patrol R will represent once it's done.
Ah, good, another entry in the EGGU (extended goth gamer universe)
Anaballs are an obvious reference to Anabolic steroids, 'cause, like steroids, they make you stronger. XD
Wonder if DOA = Dead On Arrival. The aesthetics and vibes of this game are perfect, can't wait for the internet to be like this.

Good stuff. Interesting game, interesting video. Cannot wait for the next ;)
FMV sequences in games are an amazing example of how much it can cost to look so cheap.

Dont feel bad. I sold my soul to the devil for tacos...i tried to sell it again for more tacos...didnt work
Thank you for the vids and the shout out.
Thanks for watching and the sub!
Wooooo! I'm the 0.5%! 😂 love the continued classic simpsons references - I don't say evasion, I say avoision! Keep up the awesome work ❤
Also, I guess my settings are set to something dumb cause I didn't make the list 😢 oh well!

Renting a 3DO > Buying a 3DO
I never heard of such a thing as renting a 3DO, even though friends had PS1/N64 as birthday systems (instead of cakes - win) via Stage 1 Video. 🎬
@@Marzimus Me neither tbh. Given the retail price of the 3DO at launch ($699 USD), it just makes more sense to rent, y'know?

I still have my copy of this game but my 3do CD drive seized up, so I need to replace it.
Nice work!
Indeed, I had a feeling I missed the joke. lol
Thanks!
Twenty dollars for a weekend? Not a week or a month?
2 days was the going rate- Rent it Friday morning, return it Sunday by 6:00PM. All things considered it was a pretty good deal IMO
This is good.
A niche video game Rev from 30 years ago? Hmmm. Yes
24:12 Bro they literally just used a football stadium asset from nfl/fifa games. I dunno, thats just so funny to me 😂
