Magali is a god!!! How can she keep up that tempo effortlessly and play killer walking lines nonstop with a smile on her face for this long??? I bet she could do it for a whole concert!!!
This performance has everything. Joel is incredible, Joan is insane on the bari2 , the trombones were out of sight, piano solo was A plus, the tenors and Alto were incredible and Andrea’s voice and charm is always top notch .... AND the incredible bass player held it all together. Totally adorable face to boot. A Grammy prize for sure. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Yet another outstanding performance from this band! I’ve been a musician for 50 years and never heard such great music coming from players so young. Be proud guys, you are really really great.
Magali, on bass rocks! She is undaunted in spite of a very rapid, up-beat tempo. The band in its entirety is superb -- students, guests and teachers. God, how I love these folks!
Back in the day I used to enjoy such a frenetic tempo but my right forearm would get really tight and tired. We didn't use amps and had to fill the dance hall with our instrument's volume. Magali has my sincere admiration for her playing, her stamina, and she keeps smiling.
Girl bassist is outstanding; four notes to the bar. Ray Brown is standing next to her. Overall, outstanding arrangement of this classic; great sax solos too. Joan does it again!!!!
With all her fingers. Not once with her hand. She's actually on the know. Just felt in love with her and, mind you, I've told my missus with whom I'm married for 67 years.
andrea motis never sacrifices the note ... pays so much attention to it .. when she came to the vocals she stepped into the flasetto so confidently... shes a perfectionist.. and Joan Chamorro is the ultimate genius. Well done
Outstanding! Fantastic! They are all having too much fun! Best therapy there is for surviving a global pandemic. OMG ... what a monster band ... with Joel Frahm at his best. What great musicians ... every one of them! A brilliant arrangement of this 1938 Ray Noble big-band classic! Maestro Chamorro deserves the Nobel Peace Prize for repeatedly bringing so much joy into this sorry, suffering world. Just look at his body of work here on RUclips alone. Everything is better with Joan Chamorro and the SAJB! Can't get enough. TY!
Five-star rating and ONE HUNDRED PER CENT SATISFACTION !!! I have played this video over and over again and never tire of it. I find something new to enthral me every time whether it be musically or visually. It has to be one of my all time SAJB favourites. I'm overwhelmed.
Its not surprising that Magali merits so many individual comments. What a talent ! the whole band shine on this brilliant arrangement. Thank you, all of you.
A defining moment in the talent of Joan’s arrangement of Cheruki. The whole band presented itself as a kaleidoscope of super talent. The opening salvo by the Saxophonist set the orchestra on fire! This presentation though done in 2015 will never die. Lastly, kudos to the young lady on acoustic bass . What energy for a young woman!
I am always impressed by the Magali's bass playing, as with all the soloists and ensemble, but more so with her. She really rocks that thing. Joan unleashing some Pepper Adams quality bari. Bravo
Just when you think it can't get any better this comes along! That bass player - out of this world, as a band they compete with ANY of the big bands of the past, superb, tight playing, and so much SMILING! This guy Joan has brought so much pleasure to their fans, and by the look of it the musicians as well. In these tough times they make me smile and shed tears of happiness at the same time. Bravo!
Love how this band brings together Jazz musicians of all ages. Really sets an example for what we want as a society, total integration with music from beginning to end.
Maybe with the speed impressed to this execution Joan Chamorro wanted to test the capacity of the youngest players to keep the step at that crazy speed. Well, the did. All of them. But I must confess: the one that impressed me more has been the young and beautifuk Magali Datzira. She didn't look particularly impressed by the speed. Looking her face showing serenity, and her long fingers flying on th bass with such a ninchalance, was a real pleasure for me.
I’ve heard many versions of this tune, many of them great, but this version kills them all. Great music, wonderful rendition. Gold star to magali for an exceptional bass line.
Loved the little cameo with Joan Codina and Rita Payes on trombones. It's small things like that which show these musicians love what they're doing and make it so much more enjoyable for us.
Grandioso !!!!
So much talent on that stage! Very strong band, brilliant Rita and Magali, and there goes Andrea again--singing, playing sax and trumpet on the same song! Love it! Excellent Joel Frahm and Joan Chamorro, of course!
I’m out of breath! WOW!! What a barn burner!!! Besides the guests and the main quartet, I believe everyone here at the time of this video are teenagers with Andrea being the exception at twenty! Great solos by everyone, and Magali the Magnificent, The Iron Woman, there are no words!!!👏👏
OH MY GOODNESS!!!!! BIG BAND AT ITS BEST!!! The young musicians under the tutoridge of Joan Chamorro are beyond words.... Hope folks a way to hear the young lady on the bass, SHE'S DEFINITELY AWESOME!!! THANKS FOR SHARING THIS ONE....
Wonderful the obvious pleasure that these youngsters get from each other’s solos etc. Just so great to see all the support they give to each other. Many smiling faces there. AND on me! Special thanks to Magali. She must be shattered after that effort. ❤️👍😬🎷🎼
This takes me back 50 years. I used to like playing up-tempo numbers but they were usually a real physical workout. That's part of the reason I have great respect and admiration for Magali Datzira. I'm glad to see more women playing bass and playing in bands. If I calculated correctly Magali played more than 1200 notes during that tune.
Trombone players face at 1:48 .... looks like he felt that one. That's classic 'stank face' when a musician hears something they really dig. Thanks Joan for being such a great mentor and bringing us this music to enjoy.
I like how all the young people here are obviously tuned into the energy of this performance, there really is hope for the future of jazz with dedicated players like these!
I commented earlier on the caliber of all the musicians. I’d like to focus on your young girl bassist. That’s a long session for her playing 4 to the bar! Way to go girl!
Encore bravo monsieur Chamorro!
Sorry, Joseph from Arizona.. The pianist..Ignassi Terazza is totally blind.... Whatever he sees is already inside his mind.. In my opinion the best jazz pianist alive...and I'm a 77 yr old musician with a really keen ear..
@@johnmesser522 wow, had no idea he was blind. Of course my comment didn’t take anything away from the masterful solo, I have a tendency to see life from comical lenses, and I apparently miss the unfortunate reality here. Thanks to your comment I now have more respect for him. God bless
If you put the song in half speed, from 1:48-1:50 you can see on a human's face the magical reaction to Joel Frahm's amazing lines. Also this bass player is so good
Big Band Sound - Still Around - Young Talents Abound - Thankfully - well done Joan and crew. Big guy Joel on sax solo? Best I've ever heard. Keep'em coming.
This just makes me feel so good and everyone involved is having fun which is what is lacking in a lot of the Jazz that wants to be innovative thesedays.
Cinco estrellas.
Magali is a god!!! How can she keep up that tempo effortlessly and play killer walking lines nonstop with a smile on her face for this long??? I bet she could do it for a whole concert!!!
Magali Datzira is a giant on the bass. What a brilliant musician.
AND a great singer!
Yes, she's great!

& the drummer modeste mais parfait..
A Gold Medal for Magali here.
The bass player is a real gem! She keeps the band on tempo with no let up! Another great production Joan and hi crew!
Yet another outstanding performance from this band!
I’ve been a musician for 50 years and never heard such great music coming from players so young.
Be proud guys, you are really really great.
Great comment ____ I feel the same way ___ and I'm not a musician
Magali, on bass rocks! She is undaunted in spite of a very rapid, up-beat tempo. The band in its entirety is superb -- students, guests and teachers. God, how I love these folks!
If Magali hadn't fastened the brake, she would have eceeded the speed of light .... 🤣
The beautiful Magali is certainly working overtime on the bass. Altogether a great version of a great tune. 👍🍷🎷🎼
Again.......that bass player is so solid and accurate with the changes. A true treasure for this gang.
Back in the day I used to enjoy such a frenetic tempo but my right forearm would get really tight and tired. We didn't use amps and had to fill the dance hall with our instrument's volume. Magali has my sincere admiration for her playing, her stamina, and she keeps smiling.

Hail the greatest teacher and multi instrumentalist Joan Chamarro. You have brought a group of very young players. They sound like veterans. Congrats
Well done Magali on the bass, keeping up the tempo for nearly 9 minutes !
Magali makes other base players seem semi comatose......
Her skill & focus is beyond phenomenal
Remarkable for sure - this is one hell of a teacher, he gets every drop from these kids and they sound many years ahead of their time.
the bass player is the ultimate driving force i have NEVER seen anything so incredible ...relentless driving bass runs totally fearless and awesome...
The "Beast" of the bassist... What a run, WOW!
The way Andrea just gets up from playing Sax, grabs a trumpet and then comes and sings the last head. What a goddess.
Magali is BRILLIANT on bass - a star player in a stellar big band - here's that medal !🏅😎
Unbelievable
andrea motis never sacrifices the note ... pays so much attention to it .. when she came to the vocals she stepped into the flasetto so confidently... shes a perfectionist.. and Joan Chamorro is the ultimate genius. Well done
She does the same on her amazing performance of "Moody's Mood for Love" at the Jamboree Club!
I don't know how Magali could keep the pace and yet produce such brillant bass playing! Same with Esteve Pi. Great solo from Joel Frahm as well.
Outstanding! Fantastic! They are all having too much fun! Best therapy there is for surviving a global pandemic. OMG ... what a monster band ... with Joel Frahm at his best. The snap, the precision, the sheer joy! One of the very best SAJB cuts - and that’s saying a lot. Magali kills it on a 9 minute monster!
Yeah, the rhythm section including the young bassist were absolutely on fire. Man, what a fantastic performance!
I am always impressed by the Magali's bass playing, as with all the soloists and ensemble, but more so with her. She really rocks that thing. Joan unleashing some Pepper Adams quality bari. Bravo
The Acoustic Bass is on fire!! #MagaliDatzira ♥️
The bassist is incredible. You keep it moving!
Bass player killing it. Simply amazing
I love love love Magali - she is so on top of it - spectacular playing 👏

Magali on Bass - she is incredible and her singing voice is so unique too - Amazingly talented people

Nice point.

Can’t believe I only just heard this now - from 3 years ago! Wonderful playing all around at such a tempo!
She's also a great singer.
Better said than I would ever think of doing. Just perfect. I would have taken her as my granddaughter. Silly and egotistical of me.
I’ve heard many versions of this tune, many of them great, but this version kills them all. Great music, wonderful rendition. Gold star to magali for an exceptional bass line.
Well done, everyone stepped in and had their input. Just as the Cherokee people are in the blood of the people of North America.
Magali Datzira you've been adopted as my granddaughter. You make anyone proud of your talent/expertise and looks.
So you are almost obligated to help her here : ruclips.net/video/uqVbePv1eas/видео.html

Too late I adopted her last year :) .... she really cooks on that bass - this entire band blows me away 👏

The whole group makes this number swing. Joel's sax solo was once again great.
