I know what he is saying 100%
Myself as a DJ, as beatmaker, etc alot of people never will understand the struggle and thr skill of making music on these iconic machines. The sample time was very limited and to sample you had to speed up the record to utilize the time which was about 8 seconds and to chop a sample was like doing surgery. Ok yes new technology is new technology, but these machines opened the door to the creative flow. As with being a dj the foundation of mixing vinyl and knowing the dynamics of a record is somewhat unheard of, Jermaine Dupri is one of the most skilled people to ever touch an Akai MPC and I can add so many other names to that list that people have never heard of and some have forgot. These videos are a testimony to the foundation of the sound of Hip Hop and Solid Music Creation.

I understand where Jermaine is coming from. It’s about learning the skills and techniques of music production. You develop the techniques, you can do it on anything from the standalone hardware devices to daw easily. I work with the Akai Force and that’s the key to mastering it. Great video

So I sold my Mpc Live2 and the rest of my gear and work with the Akai Force. The Mpc X is really dope and is the only newer Mpc that you can have a old school workflow on it out the box. The Force is something totally different and it’ll take a while before you get a solid workflow on it, believe me. It take me close to a year to really get use to the Akai Force. Thank about before getting one, both the pros and cons. If you still want the Force, then your set up will be op!

I do see the force being a very valuable asset in combination with the MpC X let alone being a beast just on it's own. I'm curious how people think early records were made back in the 30s40s50s 😂. Def didn't use a computer/daw. I'd imagine a 4 track cassette studio would blow their minds too. Dupri is a genius and offers a ton of insight and advice on how to succeed in music.
People are caught up in the newest/shiniest equipment and think that's what they need to succeed. No. All you need is the desire and work ethic to make the best music you can make. You will find a way
Personally I use the MPC One and when I work on a computer I use Acoustic Mixcraft. Most think Mixcraft is bad or have never heard of it. I use it because I've used it since 2006 and I'm comfortable with it and know how to maximize my music with it.
Find what works for you and do that.

It is a good feeling that you can get a vst or DAW that cost less than 1,0000 dollars gear learn from it and make just as many hits. It is also good that there is affordable equipment, learn online how to use it, and come up with your own style.

He's not explaining anything right. MPC 3000 and 60 are 64 midi channel sequencers and samplers with mbs worth of memory. 60 is 12 bit. 3000 is 16 bit. Most people used them to record midi notes and play/record short samples. They cant do anything else. MPC Live is more than a midi sequencer and sampler. It is a hardware DAW, with synths, plugins, and 8 audio tracks. Plus it has gb worth of sample memory. You can play/record large samples. Record instruments/vocals, etc. All MPCs have computers in them.
