  • Lloyd Clarke in his 73ft M.V. Larry Cork was the first Australian Commercial fisherman in 1954 to Pioneer the vast rich waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria. and in 1958 after seeing and catching good quantities of banana prawns just after the wet each year, recommended to the Queensland Government that a prawn survey be done in the Gulf, this took place in 1962 / 1965 and was under taken by CSIRO, now the fishing industry in the Gulf is worth millions of dollars to Australian and Queensland Economy. Lloyd Clarke air freighted over 130,000 lbs of Barramundi and King Salmon to inland Queensland and beyond. This documentary was shot by the late Morgan Jones and is narrated by Russ Tyson in 1956. This is a great piece of Australian fishing history, so sit back and enjoy.
