    House #3 is very much like an American McMansion; tons of wasted space.

      Much like the people who usually live in them? Sorry, that was a bit mean 😅😔

    For a retreat, I would have two small houses, two workshop cabins, and a communal kitchen/meeting place. I love all the greenery in the area.

    I am sorry, I do not mean to offend. I really liked your main channel several years ago when when the style was more like a documentary about life and living in japan, but for the past few years your channel has felt more like a travel channel show for tourists. I find my self becoming less intrested in the channel and no longer feeling like "I can't wait for the next episode to come out!" it does not feel as engaging as it once did.
    I really enjoyed the pices about helping the homeless, what it was like in the schools, and other episodes about integrating in to Japanese culture. You do put out a lot of effort, and crate high quality shows. you are a very skilled and talented with your video work. Please keep making and ill keep watching for another year still.

    Being super super short even by Japanese standards makes Japanese houses way less dangerous for me... in fact, I almost feel like a *normal* height!

    I too have experienced a ton of those accordion doors... including in the area neighboring Malibu, where he's from. I grew up in and have spent my adult life in apartments in several areas of the US (in CA, CO, and OR), and the accordion doors are almost exclusively what apartments have. Hate them though, they always pop off their rails and take up so much space, as you said, especially when you're already living in a smaller place like an apartment!

    House number 1: Cool, would love to live there ngl, $800.000,00 seems lower than I would've expected. Personally I would've found ways to use the space a little better, but that's just me. But the building feels spacious considering it's only 90 square meters.
    House number 2: Amazing plot, less amazing houses. The structure of the buildings heavily remind me of an average scouts camp building (at least it's fairly normal here in Denmark), the $3.000.000,00 seems more reasonable considering the size of the plot, the buildings less so. Overall the buildings seem remarkably small considering how large they are.
    House number 3: It seems remarkably small considering how big the frame of the building actually is, but I believe that has a lot to do with how the space inside the building is used. A lot of space is just walkways between the various segments, and are (in my very honest opinion), very poorly utilized. $600.000,00 seems oddly high for this one, considering that the first one actually cost more.

      House #1 would be a nice cabin to get away from Tokyo on weekends. House #2, I'd probably demolish and rebuild on the acre plot unless I was running a church or a cult.

    • @op4000exe
      @op4000exe 9 месяцев назад

      @@Nainara32 I don't think I'd demolish houses #2, but I would heavily rebuild them. Essentially take out all the nice inner wooden walls, floors and more, then remove all the walls, kitchens and other elements inside, along with plumbing and wiring and redo it all from scratch. Of course I cannot afford any such idea, but that's what I'd do.
