I read the book One Second After which is set in this town and wanted to see what it looked like.
Did the book talk of a heavy homosexual liberal influence?
Love the book too!
AvariceUntied that book scared the crap out of me.
@@brandiholt447 no it doesn't but are you saying that this town is influenced by that? Lol how?
Exactly the reason I just watched the video cause of “one second after”. Scary book but the town and the people seemed good.
I remember the old gas station that used to be where that Garden is beside the red light now in town. Also my aunt used to own Peppers own Cherry Street. Was my first job and we had the best chili🥰
Im going there this weekend
Moved up to Georgia almost a year ago. This new lifestyle in these quite mountain towns cant be beat!
Hello, is it really quaint as this video depicts? I am so excited to be checking out a “new town” to call forever home. I want something nice, homey,no liberals lol! Sick of politics!
Not in Georgia though, this is Carolina
Looks beautiful
What a lovely little sundown town. I bet there's no Mondays in that town.
A telling comment. "Sundown town."
Ah, the Black Mountain Ale House. I used to work there--love it! And they have great music!!! :)
Andrew Polich how is this town in terms of ambience? I’m going to Asheville NC in October for my honeymoon. Is it close to oak grove park hotel in Ashville?
Michael Hope it's a 25 minute drive from the Grove Park. It's sleepier and a bit older but the hikes are lovely. If you're visiting, it's great for a few days.
Andrew Polich thank you so much sir. I so plan on visiting this little gorgeous town. That distance isn’t that bad and is probably a very scenic drive anyways.
love that guitar picking My home town left there in 1964 moved to Ohio Now its on to California which in 1964 was my intention
The old Do drop inn, swannanoa. Great times @ chalet
Came here from One Second After. If you live in Black Mountain, then I’d recommend reading it.
It is a great series. I read the 3rd one first, not knowing it was a series. It was still way worth going back and reading the first two.
A new one came out a couple months ago 5 years after... I'm listening now on audio so I can finish@@jamesmcclung153
My brother has a black Smith shop on Padgettown Rd. He has been there 20 yes. He made the iron rocking chairs at the little park down town. His shop is right next to the tractor place?
All American towns should be this beautiful and colorful..
But what lesson would that be?
I love living here 😅
It’s my favourite place in the whole world I go on vacation sometimes and I wish I could live here
Lucky you 👌❤
Im Mad that I didn't take time to check this town out when I was in the aeea
Nice
Is this town a 55+ community? Is there anything for the younger crowd? Seems like it’s marketed towards the old folks.
👍🇲🇦
okay but if you go to this town go to okie dokies smokehouse not phil’s.
Grace Ogle You’re exactly right!!
Okie dokie's isn't in Black Mountain.
I love Western NC. We post a lot of NC videos to our channel, would love for you guys to check them out. Just subbed!
Why wasn't i born in one of these beautiful towns 😔✋!
Is this a Sundown town ?
🤣 I know right!! Ashville is right up the road and it's not a sundown town there..
Well, Roberta flack (killing me softly artist) and a few other blacks are from there so, I doubt it
what are the things to do here?
See our guide to Black Mountain for things to do: www.exploreasheville.com/things-to-do/nearby-towns-neighborhoods/black-mountain/.
Its sad that I have to ask this but are ppl of color welcome to visit or move there? I think I seen a mixed girl my color but better to be safe than you know dead.
I’m thinking the same thing! Went to the Appalachians and the locals and the seasonal people weren’t friendly. Really want to live in the mountains and not be hung.
@@kendgabe822 sad that we live in a world like this my friend
@@j-quanpadgett2934 Agree, i honestly never ran into any overt issues at all until we were up there.I was flabbergasted for sure. But I still want to live in the hills! Just gotta be careful about where I choose.
Wow, if you guys find anything please update. I just moved to NC, right now I’m in Concord right by the racetrack. It’s not the mountains though so it’s just for right now

I looking 1 bathroom apartment there if someone knows apartment available please let me know thank you
Where does John live?
🤣 I know right!! Ashville is right up the road and it's not a sundown town there..
R.I.P Jennifer 😞😞😞
Nice. Housing costs on Average? Any professional driving jobs: ie: CDL-A to come to "full-retirement" here?
Want to get away from the snow....lower humidity...nice climate...like to ride 4-wheeling too.
Can one "come to town" and buy a house for $200K...and get more than a "doll house?"
Blowing rock is better
Blowing rock is really nice, but it is helpful to be a millionaire if you want to live there and it has been that way for about 90 years. During the 50's when I was a kid living in Charlotte many in the well healed class had their Summer "Cottages" in Blowing Rock.. It worked out well because the high elevation (about 2000 feet higher than Asheville) made it almost always cool in the Summer at a time when air conditioning was just starting to become a thing. Blowing Rock provided an elegant folksy Summer life style. I got to go along with a friend to the annual horse shows that were part of the regular Summer activities along with golf, dinning out and shopping at a variety of fancy and expensive art and gift shops.
All that being said, I live in Black Mountain and wouldn't change that for anything. Unfortunately over the last 20 years it has become very expensive to buy a house here. Lately houses are selling within days or sometimes hours of going on the market.
Who's Rock?
It's pretty, but not prettiest
Inkedelii we have bears in downtown Asheville. The worst they do is go through your trash outside, lol. Asheville is a liberal town overall, the farther you go the more conservative it becomes...so...
@@livinginashevillenc not true. I had a bear that pulled and broke my door off the hinges
@Kaizojen Of all the cities I've lived in Black Mountain is the least "racist".
Come to Black Mountain walk around town, talk to people, see what you think. The Black candidate for town council in the November 2020 election received the highest number of votes of the people running for the 3 open seats and in fact he received the most votes ever cast for a board seat in the history of the town.
It’s hard to believe that Roberta flack is from here … it looks very hick town-ish
Looks mighty liberal to me… smh
Always got to be some political idiot
I've noticed there is only one (perhaps?) person in this entire video (which tries to emphasize it's "diverse" music scene) that is not white. Where are the People of Color?? Black? Indigenous? Latino? Anyone???
Race baiter...
Hardly a soul under 65 - does that make them ageist too?
Ah, the diversity cops are here
Only someone looking for it would even notice. You sad person.
Diverse music scene, ya know, country, rock, blues, folk, alternative... Loser.
