Thanks for the video. I just pulled mine from the bottom of a drawer not rummaged through in probably 20 years.
These old radio shack meters fascinated and encouraged me, no, pulled me into electronics. RS knew what a noob was looking for back then. Lots of buttons, clearly labeled. Clean design. What for us, at least, could envision a complex piece of electronic test equipment should look like. Big. Sturdy. Serious. We bought 'em by the thousands. Heck, a quarter of my classmates bought these for home use. Oh, the joy and wonder of throwing open your box of magic and spending an evening pushing buttons, measuring the values of tiny components of various ilk. Putting something together and the poking it all over seeing how it work. Theory vs Real World.
These old consumer grade but capable looking meters pulled many a budding EET into a world of mystery and creation.
    Thanks for the memories

I had to LOL about how many of have a bunch of meters on our benches. Radio shack products was pretty good at times as long as you knew what you was buying. I own and still use some of the items purchased before they got into cell phone plans. Nice meter and it is great to see one still working.. Take care sugar

I still have bits of Radio Shack stuff kicking around: speakers, some tools, even some components. I even learned to program in BASIC in front of a TRS-80 at the local Radio Shack here. During its heyday, it really was a pretty cool place. 🙂

Nice benchtop meter - looks like pretty inspired by Fluke.
Transistor identification is a cool feature here.
I'm surprised it has just one small PCB, was expecting a mainboard. What was I thinking... that this is a Keithley or Fluke? Ha. Still nice for an amateur grade DMM, it's pretty capable.
    Perfect nails!

Even by today's standards, it's still a surprisingly capable DMM. Here in the US, RadioShack (or 'Rat Shack') used to get joked about a lot, but they really did put out a lot of good equipment, and were *the* source for parts. It was sad when they all shut down - the end of an era.
