INCREDIBLE MEKONG RIVER CRUISE to Luang Prabang, Laos!

- What’s the best way to travel from Thailand to Laos? Going on a Mekong River cruise, of course! Today we show you how to get from Chiang Rai, Thailand to Luang Prabang, Laos via the scenic route.
To start, we took the local bus from Chiang Rai to Chiang Khong, where we then stayed overnight before our big journey down the mighty Mekong River. We highly recommend the Fortune River View Hotel in Chiang Khong.
From there, we did a land border crossing from Thailand to Laos across the Friendship Bridge. This process was super easy and handled perfectly by our Mekong River cruise tour guide.
We booked our luxury Mekong River cruise with Nagi of Mekong, taking the slow boat from Huay Xai to Luang Prabang, Laos. This river cruise was the highlight of our trip in southeast asia and one of the most relaxing and peaceful vacations you can take!
We stopped along the Mekong River at a small Laos village to meet some locals before heading on to Pak Beng, Laos where we stayed overnight at the gorgeous Le Grand Pakbeng hotel. This place totally spoiled and surprised us with a river view villa overlooking the beautiful Mekong River and surrounding mountains!
In our next video, we’ll pack up and cruise down the Mekong again to finish the journey from Chiang Rai, Thailand to Luang Prabang, Laos.
We hope you enjoy our Laos travel vlog and, as always, we’ll see you in our next video as we Keep Going Places!

Excellent choice to open the door to people about your kindness. Football/soccer is the key to opening doors to people from all countries. You don't need anything other than the ball. Creativity and imaginary of goal/net/rocks/branches create the dynamic of being a world footballer. I loved this video and first time watcher from many vloggers; I subscribed. I liked your couple's touch and kindness, empathy and wonder in being in Laos,,,,or wherever as I watch from now on RUclips.
Thank you so much! We couldn’t agree more. Thank you for sharing your perspective and watching!
First time watching you. A very well made travel video. Looking forward to watching more
Thank you! We’re glad you enjoyed the video and are looking forward to more
Very nice video. Children in Asia are extremely friendly and sweet, especially little girls. When they see a foreign woman and sensed a good vibe from her, they will almost immediately hold her hand like a long-time friend.
peaceful and nice , easy way to take advantage of the wonderful sight
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed the video!
WELL COME TO MY BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY
Yes, our country is beautiful like the heavens.🇱🇦🇱🇦😁🇱🇦🇱🇦
That cruise experience must be like being in heaven. Exotic Scenery.
It was truly beautiful! Highly recommend ☺️
The soccer ball was epic. Rather than intrusive, the villagers welcome the source of income. No telling how much one little bracket bought means to the family. You made some family's day a bit better. And nothing like slowing down and watching the world pass by. I love those types of trips. Looking forward to day 2.
Hey Tommye, nice to see your comment! I truly enjoyed giving them the soccer ball ⚽️ and kicking it around with the kids on the banks of the river was one of my favorite moments traveling so far. At first we didn’t realize we were going to go through the village like we did and and have opportunities to buy anything. We only had one or two small bills that day. Afterwards our guide was able to break a larger bill overnight so we could get some more items on day 2. Agreed, travel and tourism definitely helps the people out. I believe 1 in 10 people in the world are employed due to travel and tourism, so I’m hoping things get better soon so we can all get out there! -Jordan
Your kind and honest comments are very helpful. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experiences in the Mekong river cruise.
You’re very welcome, thank you for watching!
I would love to take this exact tour someday soon after the evil covid-19 is gone.
It's covid-21 now. Please keep praying to God.

Love your soccer ball idea. I was born in Laos so I understand how a soccer and a guitar can change the whole village kids' lives for the betterment
Thanks so much for watching! ☺️
Hi !
I'm your new subscriber
I love all your videos 🌼
I remember the mekong river from Apocalypse Now. Martin Sheen saying " Never Get Out Of The Boat " Looks calm now.
Ha! The Mekong was so calm and peaceful in February. Kids playing in the water...cows relaxing on the shores... I bet it gets intense during the rainy season though.
@TheMoxhambi lol kurtz got out of the boat 😂
Googled this before and always thought of the entire thing exhausting and uncomfortable. But this video made it seem so chill. Now I kinda wanna do it too!
It’s veryyy chill! Give it a try, we had a great time.
I took the cheap route and got upgraded to a resort right next to you but there was no restaurant so i had to buy food at the first hotel that ran out of rooms btw 100k for the night with breakfast included i also had 2 coffees and 4 bahn mi sandwiches( to go) in the morning all for 40k the slow boat was a highlight of my trip
The slow boat was the highlight of our time in Laos, too! ☺️
It makes me want to take the trip on the Mekong. The ball is nice gift.
Great video. I normally can’t stand traveler RUclipsrs… always so fake and narcissistic. But you guys seem very nice and genuine. You’ve got a new subscriber.
Really, suitcases.i travelled up and down the Mekong in 1998.a whole different trip.sleeping with the goats on a cargo boat.pak beng,Luang prahan, savanakhet.bloody luxury now
Hello thanks you for amazing video and making me thinking of my home town yet I am from Laos about 40 years ago now I’m living in Washington DC US
Thank you for watching. We’re happy to be able to share our travel experience with you from Laos!
Lovely video, I loved Laos it's so peaceful. I went across on the train from Thailand; I think you definitely did it better. Sometimes it's great to take a step back and enjoy the simple life as the Western world can be chaotic. That boat ride looked so therapeutic.
It was so peaceful and we would do again in a minute! Thanks for watching!
You weren't kidding about taking the scenic route. You're making me miss overseas trips. We took a Mekong River tour a couple of years ago (Vietnam side) and it was amazing!
I'm new to your channel and loving it already. Looking forward to more vids. I do travel vids also, but sticking to domestic mini trips for now 😁😅
That was really sweet what you did for the kids. 🥰🥰
It’s one of favorite ways to travel, we loved it! So glad to hear you’re enjoying our videos. Thank you for watching, there’s plenty more to come!
Thanks for visiting us my friend. At Laos 🇱🇦 thanks for helping local people
We LOVED our time in Laos 🇱🇦 and cannot wait to visit again soon. Thank you 😊
Did you guys ever make it to southern Thailand?
We didn’t get to bc of COVID. 😢 We are hoping to finish out our time in SE Asia later this year when travel is safe again.
Amazing video and what a scenery!did you shoot before pandemic last year??as now land borders are closed and i suppose quarantine everywhere
Thank you! The Mekong River is such a beautiful place. Yes, this was filmed in February 2020.

It’s mesmerising to watch this trip documentary. I have realised that sometimes happiness is something unexpectedly simple, it’s a hand holding of Ashley and that little girl.
🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦🇱🇦
I enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing. I took the slow boat(though it isn't really that slow, right?) in the opposite direction a couple of years ago and loved it. I sure do miss this part of the world.
So glad you enjoyed the video. We absolutely loved the slow boat! We thought it was one of the most peaceful experiences we’ve had on the road. We miss it too! Thanks for watching ☺️
In the early part of this video, the music is great. What is the name of the singer and the song?
I was there in 2002 and I was there again two years ago. Get there soon. It's the last part of South East Asia that is still totally unspoiled, except for tablecloths and nice bread, a legacy of French occupation.
Laos is My home land I left laos 1975 to Thai refugee camp but watching you guys tour in laos still made me remember All the places and the villages
Thanks for sharing the step by step journey. I was just looking into this trip the other day. I will definitely be going with this company when I book. Love your Vlogs.
You’re so welcome! You’ll love the trip ☺️
Miss the motherland. I swim and fish in the Mekong river when I was young. One day I will go back and visit. Just subscribed. ❤️🙏🏼
So glad you enjoyed the video! We loved the Mekong and Laos! Thank you :)
Hoping to do this in April 2022. Was suppose to be April 2021 but postponed for 12 months.
I am hoping and keeping everything crossed that Laos is open by then!!
Oh no this is the genuine one ! Just now I subscribed to the fake / mirror channel, named :- { HOW TO MAKE }. Thanks to RUclips for pop up that fake channel in my [HOME] screen. 😅 But then luckily you’ve put a end-note in your video displaying your instragam’s name and from the instragam page you put another link to this genuine RUclips channel. Way back, risky but adventurous as well 😅. Ya forget to praise you for this superb video, 👍 really nice and pro video .
Wow, THANK YOU so much for letting us know about this fake channel impersonating our video content! We've reported the channel, so hopefully RUclips will take it down. Please feel free to report them too. We're glad you enjoyed the video! We miss Laos so much.
Ashley and Jordan Going Places Yes I’ve reported it too before your reply to this.😉 We should all have such a kindness and conscience heart in everything we do ☺️

Amazing video. I got a flight to Luang Prabang but now wish I got the boat down the Mekong
Thank you! Cancel the flight ✈️🙃 Kidding, but we highly recommend the river boat if you get the chance again.
I was born in Laos in 1970. My family came to USA in 1981. I became USA citizen by naturalization. I'm the youngest in the family. My oldest brother and parents all passed away in the USA years ago. I never been back to Laos country to visit. Although I planned to go to suriname country to see some Hmong people there from Laos as soon as the suriname government open for travel in the next few months. Please come to suriname country when you can. Chou Yang live in usa.

Hey Marcia, glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching! This was filmed in February of 2020 before Covid was declared a pandemic and before any travel restrictions. We haven’t traveled internationally since March of 2020.
@@KeepGoingPlaces I appologize for jumping to conclusions.
How much did the 2 day tour package cost?
We went with Genesis Regal Cruises on a 3 day, 2 night cruise, which cost $380 USD per person (includes cruise, Senior Suite room with king bed, all meals, activities, round trip transfer from Hanoi, and taxes). Hope you enjoyed the video, Day 2 on the cruise just posted!

Hi Ashley and Jordan this is Brenda & Ken (we met you on the cruise)! We have been waiting for this video, and it did not disappoint, so VERY WELL DONE, can't wait for the next one...... Have watched almost all of your videos from the start and they all are so well put together, thank you for taking the time to do this, especially this one, as we were able to re-live the Mekong River experience! :)
Hi Brenda and Ken! How’s everything in Canada? It’s so nice to hear from y’all and we’re glad you are enjoying our travel videos. The Mekong River cruise, and Laos in general, was one of our favorite experiences. We hoped the videos would turn out well and truly represent the river and country, so we’re happy to know you both enjoyed the first one - and get to relive it! Part 2 of the cruise will post next Sunday! Thank you so much for reaching out 😊 - Ashley & Jordan
Hi again, we're doing okay, thank goodness though we can "travel" back to our SE Asia trip through your videos. Take care y'all! 😊
welcome to Laos
Thank you! ☺️
Ashley is a beautiful hostess, front, sideways and especially the back! We took a cruise a few years ago up the river from Luang Prabang to Northern Thailand. One important fact about the flat bottomed boats is they are used because the Mekong is very shallow in some spots along the way. When we got off the boat, we took a lovely bus-ride down to Chiang Mai.
With which company did you make the ship trip? With boat?
Wow! My best friend, Nice one video. Love for you also best wishes to you, Carry on dear.
Wow! I love this video! My hometown is in. Chiang Khong which is near Mekong River and I would welcome you to visit my hometown. Last but not least if you need a local volunteer tour guide please let me know. 100% free ‘cause I wanna improve my English speaking skills.
Welcome to Laos, and welcome to Luang Prabang, beautiful scenery, love it.

Thank you for your kind words :) We had an amazing experience cruising the Mekong River and meeting locals along the way. We're happy you enjoyed our video!
Room looks nice and nice view and beautiful nature
Western music on Asia tour. hmmmm something doesn't fit.
Made the same tour with Chompoo tours from HuayXay, which is on the Laotian side, to Luang Prabang . We had a stay at the same hotel which was not so huge 8years ago, it was a dream. The night was so silent and so dark, it was silky black, we could hear the river down in the valley, and we had just 2 more people to share the hotel. The morning was not from this world. We sat at the lunch area and had breakfast. Fog covered in parts the valley. Elephants broke through the jungle to take a bath, it was unreal, everthing happend in such a silence. This tour was and will be for ever our favourite experience of Laos. The river gave me even some deep insights of the meaning of life. It was the foggy scenery in morning. To give you a glimpse of what I mean, read the book by Hermann Hesse " Sidartha"
Sounds like an incredible trip! This was one of our all time favorites 😊
Please do visit us again soon in Lpb. Laos
Guys 🇨🇷💖🇱🇦😂❤️🙏🙏🙏🎸

I miss my hometown. Riding in river boats and cruises for commutation was daily way of living before the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Setu was built. Feeling nostalgic.❤❤❤
