Wow thanks for the winch Worked perfect in a pinch Skid a log out of the alley Nice to clean up that valley Great big woods it’s Mikes place To get away from the daily pace Isn’t it amazing what a life we live And you have so much to give So could please not make us wait For our next Morgan date!
Just a little tip for ya when your hooking up your choker chain on a log, always put the open end of the hook facing away from the tractor/winch then it has less a chance of coming undone while in motion. My boss taught me that while logging last winter. Not trying to criticize just thought I’d share that with you. Another excellent video guys!
Scott Jennings I didn’t make this comment looking for a response from mike. Wasn’t trying to be critical just thought I’d offer a piece of advice. I’ve met and spoke to Mike and Melissa before and there straight shooters and down to earth.. yes he knows a lot about many different things but he doesn’t brag or say this is how YOU have to do it it’s always this is how I (Mike) do it. I’d say I’d have to disagree with your view of his channel sir.
That's awesome! Made me think back in the day when I had the old Toyota land Crusier that I had a winch on front and back. My dad and I used to get firewood and I took that beast and lug those logs from out of reach places then cut and put in back of Dad's truck but that rig was ever so slow. This looks a lot faster and man how easy it is to bring 'em in. Nice set up Mike. I think you're going to like that outfit. Very nice. Oh as for that rig I had, it's long gone. I miss those days and it was pure fun to be outdoors getting wood with my Dad. We used to burn wood all the time back then. I loved the smell and the heat and enjoyment of getting those logs out where we couldn't even get to them. My Dad is 82 now and still living, Praise God. We even talk about those days. I still enjoy the outdoors but it was better then when he was able to be there with me. Enjoy life to the fullest. God Bless Michael From NW NC
Finally Mike, you’ve been killing me with the delay of your new toy demo!! I would love to know more about the workings and mechanics and remote operation. I’m sure you will get a little more in depth in a later video, keep on keeping on!!
Richard: I had the same curiosity about it's workings. I would love it if Mike would be able to take of a cover and show us a few pictures. However, taking off covers may not be that easy or Mike may not be willing to open up a new piece of equipment. So I went to the manufactures web page and found the following users/maintenance manual and it had some nice drawings at the end that give a good representation of the internal workings. www.wallensteinequipment.com/us/en/pdfviewer.aspx?pdf=2f52ba23-6319-4066-af73-31f60e0dc013
Melissa, I loved how your happy goldies arrived just ahead of you yet when they got to Mikes's log they both looked back to see what was keeping you? My Labrador has always liked to "prune" sticks like Piper, so her nickname became Tweezer. Those two fur buddies were joyful on your beautiful crisp day in the woods. What fun and so exciting to see how easily the new skidder wench hauled up those two logs.
Choker chain tips: Always leave the hook mouth pointing away from direction you are pulling, opposite of how you hooked it. You don't need to thread that tail into the hook, it will slide over the links anywhere. You can hook the choker so when you start the pull it rolls the tree in the direction you need it to move by sliding it around under one side or the other.
💥 If anyone needed a skidder attachment to get big trees out of the wood it was you Mike! That thing is a beast! I hope they let you keep it! Also, the camera shadow on Mellissa’s jacket made it look like and old fashion real camera. 🎥. Keep on tractoring!
Love it, Just purchased a FX40 for my B2650 HSDC, can't wait to break her in. Thanks to Huckabone Kubota in Cobden Ontario, Canada, Chris is a great guy to deal with. Thanks again.
My Sunday morning cup of coffee with the Morgans.....Awesome way to start the day then off to church...That FX 85 is slick to say the least...Be safe out there and God Bless
I have been waiting for you to get a winch since i joined this channel. Glad to see you getting a chance to finally use it, its such a game changer. Arm chair quarter back time, don't stand on the down slope of the winch, or the inside of the v of the cable, if something goes wrong you are between the tractor and the log instead of being on the outside of it. Not criticizing, just a observation, i know a person dose not know it all the first time. Cant wait for more videos with the winch and seeing it on forest!!!
Love the skidder winch. I was going to comment in the beginning and then, being the fast learner that you are, you put the snatch block across the road from where you were pulling. Two thumbs up. So reminded me of where I cut. One road through the center of the property, everything on the north side of the road is up the mountain, everything south is down. The road is one of the few level spots on the land. I'd really struggle without the block!
What a great system! And here I am still organizing the neighbor's horses to skid logs. I'll post some vids on Instagram once we get some snow (A tractor would chew up the landscaping too much) And that Piper with the heart of a logger! Chewing down her own logs and a casual disregard around heavy equipment and OSHA.
Dayum Mike! That thing wasn't even breathing hard! Very impressive. Glad you found an anchor point on the opposite side of the trail for the second pull. Gives you a ton more flexibility in positioning the logs. Thanks for the great content.
Mike! that skidder works`s great buddy! awsome! thats gonna help you a bunch! Great to see Melissa`s smileing face! Your a doll!Girl. love the music! keep them coming. God bless your hearts.
Mike Great job with the first Tree pulled up to the road. You did your planning perfectly and got all the information you could on what you needed to do, and did it. I really respect you and your planning. Great Job.
Awesome power in that winch, cool breakaway snatch block too, you got to be careful with that much power... none of us want to see you or anyone else getting hurt doing anything, especially what you love doing. FUNNY seeing Piper and Ruger checking out the log and at 10.35, they both look back like..." where's Mom? Come see the big stick we found!!"
Hey Mike, you got it going for you now. That was a great job with the skidding first time with the Wallenstein fx85. You will be amazed at what you can do with that skidder. Sure glad to see Melissa and the two pups doing so well, good to see them happy again ! So Hunter has found the baby needs a little looking after and he can be the messenger 👍👍. Would love to see that clip. Thanks for sharing with us.
Nice winch I have done that with my winch on my Jeep. I was taught to hook both loops of the tree saver strap to the snatch block. So you don't choke the live tree and damage it.
James Kimball, I get what you're saying, you could strip the bark, that makes sense. In some instances though, by not 'choking ' the snatch block at the anchor point, it can 'slip' down the anchor point, before tension is on the winch cable causing the snatch block and winch line to ride at ground level. It has happened to me. What I have done is to try my best to choke the snatch block at the center apex of the winch cable load line and pull line, causing less chance of the strap wringing or choking tighter. Didn't mean to be lengthy in my explanation but hope it was understandable, Not trying to be smart or sarcastic either. Just commented on what works best for me. In situations where I have used a snatch block, every pull had a different way of rigging. Thanks.
That is an awesome winch - finally got the thing you needed to grab them Wascally Wascal Trees you've missed for so long. Nice pull with that snatch block. that a new one on me! Old Dogs can learn new tricks. Keep them videos coming and looking forward for more on the winch and block. Be safe out there.
Looking good, this Wallenstein winch. Should be a big help. As you said, learning some tricks and getting used to it, will make things easy and wicked fast.
As so many others have already commented, I am glad to see the skidder winch in use. Great video and glad to see that the family is doing ok after Stanley's passing
Mike, looks like a great new addition to your set of tools for the woods. Congrats on your addition. Enjoyed watching you work with it, and the dogs at play.
Mike I think you’re going to have fun with that skid winch. Make work allot easier as faster. Look forward to some nice videos of pulling some of those great trees up to the trails. Ya more firewood and mailing logs. Gland to see Melissa smiling and doing better. Hope Hunter is doing ok without Stanley being gone. God bless.
Mike, Mike, Mike. Find an old car hood to put under the leading edge of the log when skidding to prevent the log from digging into the dirt. It will also help getting over other obstacles as well. I'm pretty impressed with the skid winch.
Mike, I couldn’t sleep all night because I knew the Wallenstein was coming out today. Wow you just found a whole new inventory of firewood without having to down a tree. That thing is going to be great.
Nice analysis of the situation and final plan....you got the complete package now on equipment...ez pz from now on....come spring maybe Melissa can snatch a pool...I just knew Hunter would be a proud uncle
I have an old Farmi winch that is hooked up to my JD 3020. Let me tell you that the Skidding winch is a back and time saver. Also on my Farmi I can disconnect the cable from the lower wheel to bring the log right up to the blade when it's down then hook the chain to the winch. When I raise the winch, it also raises the head log to keep it clean when towing. Great video
We have been using the same winch and love it. Amazing the possibilities it gives you to retrieve logs with restricted access, much faster and while creating even less damage to the stand. One word of CAUTION..... When winching, always be aware of the danger zone in order to position yourself in a safe area. At time stamp 8:40, I believe that you were standing on wrong side of tractor (if I understand correctly page 30 of the Wallenstein Manual). Please, don't get me wrong....love all your videos. Just thinking of your safety ;) Cheers!
The skidding winch will be a big help when you move that large fallen cherry that you showed us a few weeks ago. Have a blessed and safe week. Hi Hunter:)
Gidday Morgans , good song thanks for putting them up . That skidding winch is a little ripper , that's something you could use nearly everyday of the year unlike a pool 👍 .
I checked out the Instagram pictures of Hunter and Ty - just wonderful. Nice of the dogs to help out with the brush clearing. Don't know what the plan is for the big saw log but my neighbor pulls whole logs out of the woods tight up against the winch all the way up to the processing area. Might want to consider pulling saw and firewood logs together back to the house rather than cutting up on the trail. Of course that assumes dragging them won't make a mess of the trails.
Nice job Mr. Morgan soon you will get your skidder badge , enjoyed your video as usual , nice to see bare ground pushing 2 feet of snow here in northern Ontario Canada
nice and fast! I don't have a skidding winch but I do have a 900 lb winch that mounts on my rear quick hitch. I ran massive 12V power cable back from the battery and added connectors to the tractor and winch. With the 3 point hitch I can lift the front of the log when it gets close enough to the tractor. Cheap and easy solution. What I would like though is a pair of wheels I can attach to the rear of logs to they can roll over surfaces .
Life is incredible when you have the right tools for the job. What an awesome attachment. Also, no need for the brushhog anymore with Piper around. Lol. Have a productive day.
Thank God for you and your wife. You know even if you did not tell me you were a Christian I would know just buy the joy and the light y’all all shine. Thanks so much
Mike, a while back, "Wranglerstar" was skidding some logs, he placed an old car hood under the front of the log, and then started skidding the hood prevented the log from digging in an it skid without any problems. That skidding winch seems to work good, but with the soft forest soil the hood would prevent any digging in.

Ditch the chain and get a thick cable that is ment for logging.I don't use chains anymore because it sucks when you climb back up a hill just after hooking up a log just to find out the hook slipped off. 3. Put a piece of canvas or something like that on the line just incase the log hits a stump or something like that and the line snaps it should stop it from flying back at your face. lastly move away from that line when its pulling. Skidding logs is so dangerous. Try to think about everything that could possibly go wrong and figure out how to make it safer. Its easy to lose focus when you're setting up cameras and moving things around. Please stay safe.
The first 58 seconds was the 'music' I like and prefer!! LOL! That aside,...that Wallenstein 'tugger' is working wonderfully. isn't it,..what a rig for the 'weekend woodsman!'
That winch works really nice. 😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍
Wow thanks for the winch
Worked perfect in a pinch
Skid a log out of the alley
Nice to clean up that valley
Great big woods it’s Mikes place

Well you choke it depending on which way you want to turn the log obviously you don't want it to go example on bottom to climb over stumps and rocks
And he nailed it got it to the turn and set right in for the first drag to the deck
Love the pups running free and playing.

WOW!!! 😮 That winch is unreal. Thanks for sharing and glad the dogs found time to come “help”.

Great TUNES. Mike
That's a great new toy! The skidding winch will make your life a lot easier! Thanks for sharing.
Part of what I love about your videos is the blues Music where you get your music so that you don't have issues with copyright
Great job nice work keep up the great work thank you love your videos
Nice set of chains for the tractor would be nice for winter logging now . That Wallenstein winch is a perfect match for that tractor 👍
That was slick Mike it worked real good

Can you do a video about the quick release snatch block. I didn’t know there was such a thing...

omg what a game changer .now thats a great piece of equipment
good morning Team Morgan.
Good job Mike .
Piper the guard(ening) dog! Awesome piece of kit that winch. Did a good job.
I have an old Farmi winch that is hooked up to my JD 3020. Let me tell you that the Skidding winch is a back and time saver. I’m so jealous, you have all the cool toys. 😳
Perfect addition to your equipment...it pulled the 3000 lb up the hill like it was a feather!!
Yes! That is the video I was waiting for!! Good job team Morgan! 👍🏻👍🏻
Love the dogs.
Beautiful day and clear the way
The winch works great and it was nice to see the dogs again.
Nice job Mr. Morgan soon you will get your skidder badge , enjoyed your video as usual , nice to see bare ground pushing 2 feet of snow here in northern Ontario Canada
I grew up with Golden Retrievers, they're friendly, loving, playful, and loyal companions. I love Piper's eyebrows!
Wow! Piece of cake! GL w/ it!
Yessssss! I've been waiting to see this in action.
nice and fast!
Winch looks like a winner.
What a great addition to your tool shed.
Which must now be full enough to get started on Melissa's pool that she asked for.
Thank God for you and your wife. You know even if you did not tell me you were a Christian I would know just buy the joy and the light y’all all shine. Thanks so much
That's WAY too much fun, Mike!
A very helpful piece of equipment! Tons of firewood now 🔥👍🤠
Worked great 👍
Great !! I know you are going to love it !! Have you seen gp outdoors useing his on the 2601 !!! Very impressive. !! Thanks as always !!!
That is awesome I should invest in one !!!!
that worked out sweet!!!!
Hi Mike, I love that. That's going to help you clean up the woods and put some extra firewood money in your pocket!
I wish I had the need for something that big, but I dont. I use my skidsteer with a hitch on the bucket that I slide a winch into it. I love it.
Here's a few things I would do different.
1. Get a nose cone for the log. I use a bent pice of metal and it's not the best but the log dont dig into the dirt in turn you will not be putting alot of stress on the cable.
Now you're logging! You will love it.
That’s just awesome
That new toy work's great. Hurrah to you nice addition my
Well it’s about time to see the new toy do it’s job. Great job Mike , now it will be easier to get them out when it’s down in a ravine or down a hill.
Good video guys. You have a lovely property.
That winch is sweet!
Another great video and now I have yet ANOTHER item to put on the wish list. :)
It's time for The Mike's Winch Show 👏 👏 👏 Go Mike 💪 👊🇺🇸🌳
I like that equipment. I don’t have one so I use a snatch block and a rope and have to drive down the trail. It works but yours is better.
The first 58 seconds was the 'music' I like and prefer!! LOL!
That aside,...that Wallenstein 'tugger' is working wonderfully. isn't it,..what a rig for the 'weekend woodsman!'
