"Himno a la Provincia de Santa Cruz" (the Anthem of the Province of Santa Cruz) was written in 1987, with music by Alberto Ceballos and lyrics by Hugo Cóvaro. Since that same year, it has been the official anthem of the province of Santa Cruz, where you can find Mount Fitz Roy/Chaltén, Perito Moreno Glacier, and the beautiful provincial city and capital, Río Gallegos. Argentine administration in this region began in the late 1870s, and after decades of being a "national territory," it was finally officially designated as a province in the year 1957.
