  • Some years ago, GM made an ambitious announcement of an impending Ultium car revolution, and promised a seismic shift in the EV landscape. This was not merely a new model rollout but a bold declaration of GM’s commitment to an all-electric future. However, the journey has been anything but smooth. The Ultium revolution, hailed as the next frontier in EV innovation, stumbled under the weight of production bottlenecks, technical hurdles, and market skepticism. Now though, it looks like the narrative is changing. After a period of recalibration and relentless problem-solving, GM appears to have turned the tide. So, how did GM navigate the stormy waters of innovation to steer back on course? And how will this resurgence impact the broader EV industry?

I had actually considered an electric car at one point. I looked into EVs and educated myself on the pros and cons and the subsequent choice to buy a new fuel efficient ice car was easy. There are still too many cons on the EV side of things and I'm looking forward to the delivery of my Corolla next month and also looking forward to perhaps decades of trouble free motoring.

I just saw on RUclips that GM was developing Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and compressed air engines because of poor BEV sales!

Toyota is having the last laugh !!! Everyone said that they were wrong not going EVEVEV !! They continue to make hybrids, makes more sense. They have perfected the hybrid and they’re blowing GM and Ford out of the water.

As a lifetime owner of the GM products, I had a disappointing experience with the last one that I purchased. There were a few really poor design decisions that left me and my family without a vehicle. The decision to use a ferrous metal pin in a nonferrous hinge, welded the doors shut and the replacement option was an expensive and time consuming process. The waterpump was another point of failure that happened in the dead of winters subzero temperatures and once again was a nightmare to replace. After going through similar issues with the non GM products I tried after that, I realized that it's a industry wide situation and I was going to have to look at foreign vehicles instead.
I'm once again considering a GM vehicle as I'm now thinking about the Lyric for the next purchase and I hope they've gotten the bugs worked out, because it's probably going to be the last vehicle that travels with us through our retirement.
I'll be watching and cheering for GM's success with the Ultima platforms and as long as I hear good things about it I'll be ready for our next purchase. 😊

Just because we are told EVs are better environment doesn't mean that's true. They are not as energy efficient as ICE cars, they are not emission free, they are disposable once their batteries expires, the batteries are too expensive to replace and EV becomes toxic waste in a landfill, ICE vehicles have better range, perform better in extreme weather, weight less than an EV and handle and brake better than a EVs. ICE vehicles don't spontaneously burst into flames. The EV policies, are not about the environment or energy consumption, they about taking our freedom to travel away and controlling we the people.

”They are not as energy efficient as ICE cars”. Yes it is true, EVs are much more energy efficient than ICE cars.

@@jukkavirtanen8119 ~ Manufactures of EV batteries (mostly Chinese corporations) require 200 tons of raw materials mined and processed using petrol vehicles, coal, gas and oil powered powered plants to build to build one new EV battery. A new EV has a large carbon footprint, much larger than a ICE vehicles, their carbon footprint is much greater than petrol vehicles and EV must be disposed of after the battery has expired. Where as ICE an vehicle can be maintained, rebuilt and last for decades, but the expired EV ends up as toxic waste in a landfill.

To say EVs are less harmful to the environment is not true. The power has to be generated, transmitted via power lines to charge EV batteries which is less efficient than petrol cars. Much of this power generated comes from oil, gas and coal especially in China and India.

Only walking and riding a horse are environment friendly. Old folks will not do that just talk and drive.
