I wonder why the chosen had Salome 'whispered' her request rather than say it out loud as written in scripture so that Herod would have noticed the onlookers looking at him with Herodias approval. It would have given Herod more impact, showing a catastrophic reaction because he had feared John and really didn't want him dead, but had to be seen to keep his word reluctantly. That would've been the powerful but heavy handed way he ruled his kingdom as a preferred portrayal than a whisper...mmm 🤔
In the mini series Jesus of Nazareth, the dance scene was VERY provocative. That's more of the standard that I imagine. But I understand that The Chosen is keeping it family friendly. But the writers should have really kept Herodias 's request of the Baptist's head out loud. They missed the mark here since that's scriptural and the big reason Herod has to behead John.
I'm glad that the dance was more athletic than sexy on The Chosen, but I agree that Herodias's daughter should have made the request out loud, so that there was no way that Herod could refuse. In addition, didn't she go to her mother, when Herod said she could have whatever she wanted, and didn't her mother tell her to ask for the head of John the Baptist?
Everything is still there in the scene. The emphasis on getting the dance perfect helps to nail the point down but yeah it would have been more memorable if they did that.
In the Gospels, John the Baptist is compared to Elijah. Elijah's main enemies were King Ahab and Queen Jezebel, but it's Jezebel who is described as being the most villainous. Herodias is John's Jezebel.
Dallas doesn't appear very interested in the Catholic priest, as he speaks to the Rabbi and Pastor throughout the conversation until the priest offers his outstanding knowledge; Roman order for funding military and Herod having to grant wish. Disappointed in Dallas.
@@TheChosenSleuth off topic but in the week 13 prayer request in the background you can see the face of who you think is mark, and he’s with George and Paris, so if you wanted to see his face there
Herodias was a full sister to Herod V (king of Chalkis), Herod Agrippa (king of Judea), Aristobulus Minor, and Mariamne III (wife of Crown Prince Antipater).
@@BMO_Creative It's my understanding that Herod Agrippa I (Herodias's brother) is different person to Herod Antipas that she married. From britannica: "Herodias also urged her husband to attempt to discredit her brother Herod Agrippa I, who had recently received the tetrarchy of Batanaea and Trachonitis, to the east of the Sea of Galilee." Given how closely related their names are they still might have been cousins though not sure as have not done genealogy on them. Her first husband was Herod Phillip (Confusing huh? though also just called "Phillip" at times), half brother to Herod Antipas (2nd husband), though she was originally supposed to marry her half-uncle she never did.

I love this channel. I appreciate your passion for the show, Christian media and for our God.

@@myheartwalks I have to agree here, I saw the same Jesus of Nazareth seen

I am okay. The message came across a well-done family show.

Hey, Snipes! I'm really liking the channel logo 🎉👏🏽👍🏽

Wow, I never noticed that. Thanks!😊
Hmm, I think it would have been really interesting to have a scene between Herod and Herodias having a heated discussion about John. 😊

Hello Brandon Della Warren here
don't some scholars also think Herodias was also Antipas' niece

I noticed the same thing!
I think there is too much info on upcoming shows...The actual shows seem to lose the feel of 'special'.
Sorry for spamming in your livestreams 🙃
All good lol. Not a huge deal, just creates chaos for sure if a bunch of people spam.

Apparently they didn't understand Isaiah 53.
Do you think they will show Judas hang himself?
I don't think that they want to go for gore. We'll probably get an idea of what happened, but not play-by-play details.
I thought I read in history that Herodias was Herod's sister AND he married Salome also as his 6th wife.
Sister-in-law.

Oh yeah! I see now! BUT Herod also married his niece right? his 6th wife?
