To: Mr. C. Balachandar: That shows the magnanimity of Sivaji, a very large-hearted person. He always gave importance to all actors including heroines by vountarily suppressing his unmatched talents, for the sake of storyline and for presenting a good film to the audience. That was his sole aim. One person who was in cine field told that Sivaji used to impart acting lessons and will also give suggestions, tips and ideas to others including top heroines like Savithri, without any publicity. Masterpiece. அருமையான படம். மனித மனங்களையும், சூழ்நிலையையும் படம்பிடித்துக் காட்டும் படம். நல்ல மனிதர்களின் கண்ணிர் வீணாகியது போல் தோன்றிவிட்டது. பண்பட்ட மனமும், தெளிந்த அறிவும் இருப்பினும் சில நேரங்களில் (என்றுமே என்பதே நிதர்சனம்) சூழ்நிலைக்கைதிகளே என்று உணர வைத்த படம்.

இப்படத்தில் வரும் அத்தனை நடிகை நடிகர்களும் எப்படி உயிர் கொடுத்து நடித்திருக்கின்றார்கள்... இக்கதை இக்காலத்திற்கேற்ற வடிவங்களை கொண்டில்லாவிட்டாலும் எவ்வளவு ஆழமான உண்மையை சொல்லி இருக்கிறது என்பதை நினைத்து பார்க்கிறேன் இரண்டு முக்கிய கருத்துக்களை இப்படத்தில் பார்க்கலாம் :
1) ஊரார் பழியால் நம் சமுதாயத்தில் பாதிக்கப்படுபவள் எப்போதும் பெண்தான்
2) அதே நேரத்தில் அப்பெண்ணை பெற்றவரே தூற்றியதும் அவள் தன வாழ்வை துறக்கிறாள்
இது இன்றைக்கும் பொருந்தும் ஊரார் பழி சொல்வார் ஆனால் பெற்றோர்தான் தன பிள்ளைகளை காப்பாற்ற வேண்டிய கடமையில் இருக்கின்றார்கள் என்பது தான் இப்படத்தின் பாடம்
