One of my favorite interpretations of this piece. Everyone on RUclips seems to think the faster they play it, the more impressive it is, but I think it's so much prettier when played at a slower tempo like this so you can really express the phrasing. I love it.
100% agree. I think the reason (at least partially) Fred Noad in his Renaissance Guitar book specified 108MM...Clara starts @70-ish.

Mi piace come lo tratti all'inizio: molto dolce. Anch'io l'ho suonato tempo fa e ancora lo adoro! Un pezzo cmq non facile, al quale non sembra mai di essere completamente arrivati. Brava!

Bravo pour ce choix de tempo (risqué et certes un peu inhabituel !) et ce phrasé plein de retenue et d'émotion... J'avoue cependant que malgré un son très beau et bien enregistré, j'ai un faible pour les interprétations sur un luth renaissance...Bravo aussi pour le montage également sobre et approprié... Un fonds noir, de belles images et des fondus enchainés doux et travaillés remplacent avantageusement tous les effets spéciaux parfois lassants et les tournages avec trop de caméras et des changements de plan toutes les trois secondes...bref, de mon humble point de vue, une vidéo très réussie avec une interprète pleine de talent et qui transmet magnifiquement l'extraordinaire talent de John Dowland ! (Dites-moi Clara, quand-est-ce que vous passez au luth et explorez Da Milano, ce génie du luth italien comme vous et contemporain de Dowland ?)
I don't know what's more beautiful, the melody or the guitar player. I'm in love, I don't know if more with the melody or with the guitarist.
