  • The celebration for the World Champion Cleveland Cavaliers continues in Akron on Thursday. 20,000 people are expected to gather at Lock 3 downtown to honor hometown hero LeBron James.
Gates to the Lock 3 outdoor concert venue open at 7 p.m. The event starts at 8 p.m. Lock 3 is on South Main Street in downtown Akron.
The theme for the event is 'We are Family,' which is also a theme for the LeBron James Family Foundation.
There is a tremendous amount of pride for the self-proclaimed 'kid from Akron.' James has done his part to 'pay it forward' in his community. He has offered thousands of kids scholarships to college through his 'Wheels for Education' and 'I Promise Network'. Children from those programs will be special guests for Thursday night's event.
The Lock 3 celebration is standing-room only. Guests are not permitted to bring chairs, blankets, umbrellas, signs or backpacks through the gates. Admission is free on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will be a video screen and speakers set up outside the main gates on South Main for overflow crowds.
Parking in city and county lots, a total of 7,000 spaces, will be free.
Bus service will be free for the event starting at 5 p.m.
    Street closures:
South Main Street will be closed from Mill Street to Exchange Street beginning at 5 p.m. West Bowery Street will be closed from Center Street to South Main Street beginning at 4 p.m. Church Street and University Avenue will be closed from High Street to South Main Street beginning at 5 p.m.
