Your masterful prose and deeply nerdy lore reignited my love for creativity 5 years ago, started playing and now I'm Dming and building terrain!! A thousand thanks to you, grand sage!!!
I will be using this encounter soon. I’ve been playing D&D since the 90s. I’m the oldest person in my group and I love bringing up monsters that they have not heard of. I’m sure my players will be cursing your name lol thank you for all the great content
Alright, cool monster, but Rupert is officially my favorite NPC in a long while, and I’m stealing that idea to join the ever growing Rolodex of creatures and characters for my world building. Thank you!
@@AJPickettA Rolodex would come in handy. I had a buddy who had an old card catalog cabinet from a library that he used for storing index cards with NPCs on them. His card file was pretty good for keeping track of everything he needed for a game, but it was a bit unwieldy.
Cool video! Really enjoying “the ecology of…” series- it’s fantastic that your incredible series are “giving life” to some of the most obscure, usually ignored, strange monsters. Your videos are a great inspiration to DMs and may allow for a “one shot” adventure as filler for players- sometimes DMs need a fun and interesting challenge to slow or wear down the heroes.
Ah, the adherer, the ultimate glue stick! Pretty cool that it has the appearance of a mummy yet it's not undead; like how a gas spore looks like a beholder from a distance but not ready an eye tyrant. It would be very interesting if a DM mixes some adherers with some mummies and the party has to figure out which çreature is actually undead. Or a mad lich somehow bestows a mummy curse on an adherer turning it into a mummy with the gluelike bandages. That would be a very sticky situation to any dungeon encounter.
I understand times are tough and not everyone can afford to pay for RUclips premium, but, I mean, if you are paying for ANY other streaming platform currently and not RUclips? Compare how many hours you spend watching content from the two and decide which one really deserves those precious dollars.
i kinda like the monster. but i might change it to a plant, designed in a great war to hinder the enemys that went through the forest. now just a remain of this great conflict is it still a rare plant, clinging to corpses and moving them to the closest creature that passes it, wrapping it and taking its nutrients from the new victim, slowly walking to another place where the conditions are right.
I don't use adherers in my campaign. It comes from a dungeon crawling style of gaming where whether a creature makes sense from an ecological and/or evolutionary perspective is of no concern. Pathfinder tries to fix that, but not in a way that appeals to me.
0:29 right at the beggining there, with the beauty of the internet: Cornstarch: thickens homemade glue Vinegar: gentle and effective glue remover for plastic, glass, and other surfaces Vegetable oil: gentle glue remover for most surfaces Skin moisturizer: gentle glue remover for most surfaces Acetone: solvent that can break down and remove glue (use with caution) now i know in DND there is no internet, but. Who, that in their past dealt with a gluey, would not want for a better solution that does not involve boiling water or hot oil? Pretty sure they would páy good gold to avoid the burns You know old timey DND is like a another world altogether. Wanted to see one of those retro game one day
Adherers are a classic, but they’re ones I never use unless I am really annoyed by my players. They fall into the same category as the rust monsters in that regard.
Very strange lore. Would spiders ignore them, more or less, if no ettercap is present? The smell might be quite enticing for a spider. Typo in the video description? "They world together well with Giant Spiders and Ettercaps." World -> Work Very interesting stat block mechanics. Would be infuriating. The encounter definitely makes me uneasy.
Adherers make no sense on several levels, and they're great. And what kind of campaign do you run that has a Galeb Dur as a party companion, or even a character?
So if the adhesive doesn't affect stone, things like stone golems and creatures of elemental earth should be immune to it. Would that include Earth Genasi? ... Asking for a friend.
@juggalox1000 in my own personal experience as a DM that never ends well and you usually learn something about a friend you may not of wanted to know in the first place
I really love those obscure and overlooked monsters
Gluestick trying to give us hints on how to stay extra sticky. Lovely gem from the old era.
This video really brings this quirky, sticky creature to life with humor and depth, offering both lore and practical tips.

That warms my heart!
Awesome video AJ love the character set up
Cheers from where the autumn leaves 🍂 are falling and hot muggy days transform into cool, crisp evenings! 🌇 🍻

Thankfully, Rupert, being made of stone, is immune to the adhesion of the Adherers and managed to save the entire adventuring party that day.
You really need to modernize your gaming kit my dude
@@Zeropointill Now I want a rolodex...

I like how as soon as AJ says, you want to get really nasty, his face pops up with a nefarious smirk
PANR has tuned in.
A monk's least favorite enemy.
Time for the shuriken storm!
Thanks AJ.
Kinda strange how such cool monsters end up becoming obscure.

Great series AJ, thanks and keep er up. I think i have that original Fiend Folio up in my attic somewhere
Alright, I need to see Rupert’s mum
Thanks for the video AJ
Great video
Love these videos
great video AJ
Thanks Chris
More like the mighty ghoul-ue stick!
Adherer! is also what I shout when youtube shows me another ad during the good part.

Ah! Gluestick now this takes him back my wizard firballed himself after getting caught in a small room. 😂
1:51 ok if you leave sacks of coin out in the open when making camp you deserve to have it stolen during a long rest
Ive heard of these guys before cannot wait to hear what your lore on them is
I thought this was about people with ADHD
I read this as "the ADHDer"

That also works :)
Indeed. I thought that the bandages themselves were the creature.
Cool, Halloween monster
Great job as always 👏 I'm ready for one of your deep look into something like you did with the outer planes, dragons, ect.
Now these sound like a chewy snack!

I don't always use adherers in my campaign, but when I do it's in the desert.
Campaign responsibly
reminds me of that army of darkness scene, where ash is stuck to his evil twin and they are punching each other.
Ha! Yes, absolutely.
Happy Halloween tomorrow to everybody.

So this is the unofficial mascot for the channel?
I like "gluey" better.
My dumb brain kept trying to add a second "d" after the h in the monster name. . .

turpentine wood spirits would be my go-to, available anywhere with resinous trees, make by distilling tree resin using alchemy kit

In some cases, yes. (Also Galeb Dur)
Which is stickier, the Adherer or the Farastu Demodand.
The Adherer.
I must admit I'm not really sold on these guys. Ettercaps, to me, has a more interesting and creepy background.
Yo can you eventually do a lore video about blackguards and about pale masters? :3
eventually, every monster in D&D.
Pathfinder.. too much spine
I see nothing wrong with it if everyone is an adult they should be able separate fiction and reality if you are playing with not adults don’t use them
