- 1985 Images by Tom Ellard and Stephen Jones, music by Ellard, extended mix by Boxcar in 1994.
You may also like the new 2017 video, which strangely enough has the old music from 1985. I know that's weird but hey, art.

Tom Ellard... didn't just pioneer ...or pave the way. He created the yellow brick road... for so many artists to follow. for my money... one of the biggest pioneers of electronic music EVER !!!!!
Same. 🎯
One day in 1985 Tom Ellard came into my studio at Heuristic Video for a day of editing. He had a reel of video that he had shot around Sydney (probably mostly at Luna Park) and we assembled the video using lots of luminance keying to put the layers together. Colourising some of it, cutting for the melody rather than the rhythm. Bismillah: In the name of the one. (This version is slightly different from the 1985 version with a few extra visual ideas added by Tom.)
Oh wow! Interesting, by chance, is Heuristic Video still around today?
I can't believe this music is STILL ahead of its time.
Great to hear this version....Severed Heads are the holy grail of the 80's synth movement.
Still touring and kicking up till today!!
@@victimedelamode1 Are they? I saw them live in 2019, and then they said it would be their last tour :o
This is wonderful music that has stood the test of time. I remember first seeing Severed Heads cassettes appear in independent record stores in Sydney in the early 80s or just before. Photocopied covers. "Terse Tapes". I had a few. The imagery lent towards punked up electro surrealism. it was cool and the antithesis of the sweaty pub rock band that dominated music in Australia at the time. While there were a small number of electronic artists playing in Sydney and Melbourne none had the drive Mr Ellard had to make his art. And its not as if he was following some great Aussie tradition of creating challenging and fun experimental music using computers, found sounds and amazing graphics. He deserves great credit for being an incredible creative artist.
Holy shit....... just fantastic. I can't express how amazing Severed Heads is, and especially this track. God damn.
I like not listening to Severed Heads for a couple months, to then come back to then and appreciate them even more. Really appreciate Tom's approach to art and the fact that he seems so open and down to earth about it as well. Makes it even more human and multi-dimensional then in a sense
This has been one of my all-time favorite songs since I bought the Dead Eyes Opened Nettwerk vinyl in the 80s. I didn't know about this version and the fact that this video also contains the Zipper just makes it all the more incredible. Anyway, this version is blowing my mind. Most underrated electronic music bands ever? I think so.
I was always into different music than anybody else I knew. SEVERED HEADS was music I liked back in the mid-80s. I never defined myself with one genre--I just loved it all.
Same here! Just rediscovering their music and catching up. The best!

Fantastic. Hope you're well Tom, long time no see!! I'll have to come to Sydney again and fall asleep in front of you in a pub from jetlag and you can stick me in a taxi. :-) Happy memories. Severed Heads were the soundtrack to my youth. Thank you.

@@leslieschmidt4744 Hello?
I remember a mate getting a video of this from Rough Trade, and other neat shit, back in the 80's and we were mesmerised. We appreciated how much time it took to create these images, edit them all together, etc and eff me stunning (IE: STUNNING) music. Thanks guys.
