    Big one that helped me this year, not being a snob and just riding the “hill” 10 minutes from my house. I still hit up the mountains an hour away on the weekends, but I could boot over in the evenings and practice on a hill that is “beneath” my buddies.

    I spoke to a bus driver on the chair today. Paid for 10 hours. Works for about 4. That leaves 6 hours he's at the resort, which he is paid for as he's required to stay there.

    Applied and got a job at a resort beginning of 2020.
    Have had some great days.
    Actually went boarding today, and still feel like I'm making progress.
    Only the first week of the season looking forward to the rest.

    Cool video!!! Well the best option is to be rich or to work in a ski resort, but since I'm not rich I'm having 2/3 of my paid leave vacation during the winter season and like this I can enjoy and profit from it. Another thing is that I never miss a chance to hit the slopes and the pistes at the season openings (usually then is more affordable and cheaper) and of course last but not least is to have friends living at the mountains and to visit them frequently. ;)

    I am a diesel mechanic. do you believe the groomer or lift mechanics get much riding in? i have considered it before but presumed I would be busiest during the day at peak winter. thanks

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  2 года назад +1

      Depends on the resort you work at and your schedules. But I have friends that do this job and work 4 10's so they get 3 midweek days off to ride. I also have friends that do the lift maintenance thing in the summer then cut their hours for the winter and work 3 regular shifts and ride 4 to 5 days a week. It really comes down to what you tell the powers that be that you want. Peak weeks like X mas and Spring Break you tend to work more but the rest of the time you can be a bit more lax.

    How many days/ season would you consider a good season in terms of amount of days on mountain and for someone that doesn't live in a shred town or shred state? And on another note I love the vacay/sick days one. I got 7 weeks paid and I took 6 of them in Colorado this passed winter... Couldnt agree more.

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  2 года назад +1

      The average amount of days a person snowboards a year is less than 7. Anything over 20 is solid.

    agree on being rich. just go anywhere you want at anytime, buy 7 decks for a quiver but only use one for whole season. easy.

    Working at a snowboard shop a good option? Or you end up just working all the time and not getting enough time to ride?

    • @AngrySnowboarder
      @AngrySnowboarder  2 года назад +1

      Depends on where you live and the shop. Most new hires get saddled with day shift so the seasoned vets get to ride. If it's at the base area you might get a swing shift which is great for mid day ride breaks.

    beware of the snowboarding/skiing girlfriend bait and switch. you think this is perfect. snow vacations, mutual love of the slopes. action off the slopes. when you get married, she decides no more snow sports.

      Funny. My wife has gone from just liking snowboarding to being a fanatical shredder over 10-12 years. We keep upping our riding days each season. We work M-F corp jobs but take vacation and sick days liberally, plus the local mountain on weekends. Only live once.
