Hey everyone thanks for watching as you can tell I am enjoying the game though I understand some of the concerns and yeah online if that was the big draw for you I totalyl understand your disappointment at launch hopefully that is fixed soon. However some of the other complaints like difficulty I just don't feel are as bad as some are making it out to be more like needing to be understand the games mechanics to get better though the AI will still out cheap you anyday.
FINALLY, First review that actually talks about the changes from the original. These Karts are heavier then the OG, that’s why controlling the Kart midair or while drifting requires a new adaptation from older players. Just a “correction”: Grand Prix (starts on July 3rd) is an event, not a DLC, you don’t have to download any content. About the coins, I understand they did this to keep players playing the game, otherwise they could simply unlock everything they want in the first place and stop playing - which I honestly think they won’t fix it. If you buy something like a skin or character, another one will become available immediately, though you can just wait til another day instead wasting your coins.
Frozen FrostYce nah I just spend them. I mean I hold no love for any character from CNK since I never played it, and you unlock everyone from CTR by simply playing adventure mode. And if you want to unlock all racers, they aren't expensive, it's like 3-4 online races on long tracks.
SANHEK Both games have local multiplayer. However TSR is more coop focused and more entertaining in multiplayer due to being able to team up with your friends. The entire offline campaign is co-op up to 4 player split screen. You can even go split screen multiplayer to Online races. CTR you're just competing against each other. Depends on your tastes.
What really impressed me was how the bosses and Nitro Kart characters appeared in races so you're not racing the same seven people all the time like in the original. However, I don't like how the Pit Stop works. Having a full menu of unlockables would have been preferable.
@Cornshaq would you see you liked this more or less then the Sonic race game that came out a few weeks ago? Thank you for this I plan on buying both for wife, and i and sister as well as a party game option. I just wondered which you thought was better. Thanks as always for all the content and spotlight.
Having played both, TSR is neat in the fact that multiplayer allows for coop racing and not just direct competition. CTR is just another Kart racer where you compete against eachother, where multiplayer is concerned. Both are good games of course, but TSR provides a new experience thats refreshing to the genre.
I haven’t noticed any rubber banding with medium difficulty, and hard difficulty just seems to have base stat increases for the ai. If you get ahead you stay ahead unless you mess up. Solid skill based racing game. Great if you like challenge and a great skill curve, and are looking to be a bit competitive with who you race against.
Same here for the UK based servers. Though it's understandable that the US servers will be subject to heavier traffic due to higher numbers of players. Also, right after launch, everyone will be playing at the same time, so it's a large rush to begin with.
Really love the original CTR and have been playing this game all weekend and I seem to have largely the same sentiments as yourself i.e largely happy with it. However there are a few gripes from myself the biggest being the difficulty level honestly its wack. Easy is pretty damn easy tbh but may still challenge complete novices, medium is much closer to the originals hard mode (went back and tried the originals hard mode today) and I havent tried hard mode yet but it obviously going to be very hard. I feel they shouldnt have made the jumps between them so severe. Could have been solved by having very easy, easy (current easy), medium (old medium) hard (old hard mode) very hard (current hard mode) insane (an ultimate challenge mode). Other two smaller things that really irked me are 1 the removal of the trophy girls from the podiums yes we are getting them as racers which is awesome but the podiums feel like much less of a celebration without them. secondly is a battle mode thing and they have removed the stats in last man standing so you cant tell who hit who or got hit by who so much less bragging rights (this has been our main mode of play for the last 20 years) and you cannot assign teams in last man standing anymore. Other change that is neither good or bad imo is the way shields interact before they would bounce off each other as long as you didnt throw it. Now they cancel each other out when you clash. As for coins if you have a turbo pad go to Nitro labs in collect crystal mode set difficulty to hard (shorter timer) change controls to alternate (important or game will crash) turn intros off and then put x on turbo you will sit there jumping for 50 seconds fail and get 15 coins then restart and repeat. Slow but its automatic so you can leave it running in background. Havent tried online yet my PS+ has expired and away soon so no point in renewing till August but hoping to get a private lobby sorted with friends for some battle mode fun.
That is the main reason why I've not bought it. Rubberbanding is a huge annoyance in racing games, only Mario Kart is truly great enough to allow me to overlook it, but that's a series that unrivalled IMO.
This is 59.99 its not 39.99 like claimed. Right now sonic team racing is 29.99 due to a sale is crash team racing better yea but is it twice as better? I don't know about that.

@@CornshaqGaming ok thanks I thought nitro was actually the name because when I looked it up it was the only one they showed in new releases. I guess they guess people won't scroll further which I admit I didn't.
Personally prefer it to Mario kart. Find mario kart dull for single player. Crashes adventure mode isn't perfect but it's got that and GPs where Mario is just GPs. Don't get me wrong mario kart is great just lacks a bit on single player
Yeah, I liked the original version better than either Mario Kart 64 or Diddy Kong Racing back in the day, and I say that as a Nintendo kid. The track designs and the number of ways to race them gives it the edge in every way in my book.

"The game didn't crash on me"
heh
This or sonic racing?
I'm thinking of getting one
Sonic is 60fps if you're anal like that lol but this is ultimately the better game.
SANHEK If you have friends to play with, TSR hands down. CTR is better for the campaign. Both are good Kart racers
@@lavantz345 We talking about couch play or online? Most likely I'll be playing local

How many can play at once in couch coop?
great review as always!! can u say, if e.g the wheels ect have diff stats..!?
No just the racers seem to have different stats the veichles seem to be cosmetic difference.

Is stats increases not counted as rubber banding? Sorry, just not really familiar with that term
Omegan Kryist well AI in CTR cheated even in original. It's simply a handicap
Maybe I was really lucky but on the UK servers I haven’t had any issues with online

is there split screen co op
Shawn Tapley it has 4 player split screen
No direct coop in CTR. Just Battle mode, And Grand Prix races against AI in split screen . If you want co-op racing get Team Sonic.
Guan Yu why would you need coop in kart racing?
For playing with kid maybe but I dunno
Tha ai aint cheap. Everything you described referes to bosse only.
Hate rubberband ai and being more difficult then needs to be. Looks like a game i will wait for a sale then.
cardman1031 dood that’s how it was in the original game.

CEWIIH also Mario Kart just holds your hand too much that’s why I love this because it says “fuck you” if you try to ask it to hold your hand.

The Nitros Oxide version or whatever is $60 and seems to just come with some superfluous stuff. The standard version is $40.
@@Twigg4075 you basically pay 60 for some stuff unlocked without the effort and i think pan avatars or something small like that.
