I once traveled from St. John, New Brunswick to Calgary, Alberta by train. I was 7 and now I'm 71 and I still remember the magic. This takes me back not many years to a Time of Wonder. Thank you so much with this beautiful reminder.

Agreed! It's really good for my anxiety too
This is the great friction that is this train. it has become a major point of contention as I wade between the realms of watching and sleeping.
I love this so much-I’m 84 and have such comforting memories of sleeping at my grandmother’s house -she lived close to a railroad-and hearing the train whistle coming from way down the tracks and listening to the clickety clack of those wheels as they grew closer and closer and then moved off in the distance-
Lovely memories! Thanks for visiting and sharing. 🙏😊
Thank you so much for sharing these truly heartwarming memories with us
We have the same kind of memories. I also remember summer nights at grandma Ginny and grandpa Caps house hearing the train going through town at night. Magical!
This is so peaceful and relaxing for me. My grandma also lived across from the train tracks and I remember sleeping there and hearing the trains go by. She said that in the past if you shared some food with the hobo's they would put a mark on your fence which meant you were a kind person and that the other travelers could get something to eat there. I miss the good old days.
Hi patsy I have fond memories as well sleeping at my grandparents cottage in Arundel West Sussex and also hearing the trains as they lived near Ford train station lol 😆

This is awesome. It takes me back when I was a boy of 9 and we emigrated to Canada in 1952 from Scotland, We came in early spring of that year and the snow lay heavy on the land. I remember the sound of the clickity clack, the rocking of the car as I lay enveloped with a gently swaying blue curtain in an upper bunk. Thank you

As you enjoy this beautiful, peaceful trip, give a prayer of gratitude to the strong men who built it all those years ago. Young men who faced hardships in so many ways. They cut through the wilderness, laid the track, sweated and froze so we could enjoy the beauty of nature from our cozy cars. Yes! A really great show about this very thing is called Hell On Wheels highly recommend it for some interesting history on the railroads
The funny part about this comment is that at least for the US those tracks were mostly laid down by Chinese workers who died like flies with this difficult and sometimes dangerous work and weren’t paid a whole lot by the Rail Barons.

One thing about trains:
It doesn’t matter where they’re going.
What matters is deciding to get on.
Trains in Europe, the trains in America truly do suck.
Sometimes it does matter where the trains are going. 1942-1945.
I took a train from Dallas Tx to Dearborn Mich. Very enjoyable. Better than flying for sure.
Is that a polar express quote?

Idk if anyone will read this but I’ve had a really rough two years. I have a lot to be grateful for but I find my self more in pain over things that I simply value more than what I already have. Things I can’t control or can’t have for some reason seem to be what’s crippling me. And these things aren’t material possessions that I long for, they are legitimate human needs. Like socializing, romance, connections, things of that sort. I’ve had a bad string of luck in regards to these things and it leaves me feeling more alone and empty than I ever been. If anyone reads this. Please say a prayer for me. Because idk how much more I can give of myself. I’ve done it for so long and there’s nothing left of me. That is all. I love who ever is reading this and I hope you have a phenomenal day. I also hope you achieve and find everything you’re looking for in life.

This is amazing. Last year I happened to stay in in a rural farmhouse and trains went by in the night - and coyotes howled allow with it. It occurred to me that I was experiencing something beautiful that will surely be lost to time within 10-20 years - a sound of wonder that enchanted generations, that inspired so much of our culture - especially American music. Thankfully vids like this will keep the experience alive!
That is awesome! Thanks for sharing. 🙏😊
There's nothing like sounds heard in the country. In Cherryvale, Ks my grandparents had a creek that ran through the woods. The sound of the creek water flowing and the air moving in the trees is beyond awesome. And the smells like alfalfa and the fresh air, OMG how amazing. Reminds us of the wonderment of our creator. I love this train video. So relaxing.
Tis the saddest reality of life's pleasures--to know how fleeting it all is and that to have a memory of beauty erased from the the mind's chasm within two decades reminds us of our own mortality.
Never ridden on a train.

Reading all the comments describing people's stories of why they love the sound of a train and memories this sound invokes for them made me think I should share my "love of train sound memory" as well. I was born and grew up in Chicago, Illinois, USA. I went to college for one school year in Rome, Italy. I would travel throughout Europe by train using my Eurail Pass that school year. I'm a terrible sleeper. I can't get my body to fall asleep until it's too exhausted to stay awake so I usually can't fall asleep until early morning hours. However, whenever I traveled by train to an overnight destination, the sound of the train and the rocking back and forth made falling asleep a sinch! I LOVED to travel at night for this reason.
Well, that's my, "love of train sound memory" story! Sleep well everyone and thank you for the upload OP!

It's a shame we all just can't sleep on a train every night for those that need the rock of the clickety clacking wheels. Now I am beginning to understand the profound importance of the psychoses behind the train's components.
Finally, a good train whitenoise!!! I know I probably sound insane, but the other train whitenoise/asmr/relaxation videos I've found don't have the repetitive "ba-dum ba-dum", which is the best part! Definitely using this to help me sleep tonight
Thank you kindly. Enjoy. 😊
AMEN!!!!! 😀
The wind is awesome yet haunting, like at almost the end of the train ride train has a derailment & everyone is stranded in subzero temps. REDRUM?
The low growl of the engine and the ba-dum, ba-dum... nighty night...
That ba dumb ba dum sound is flat spots on the trains wheels. It's also my favorite sound.
It’s so nice to see people still valuing slow things. This helps me fall asleep but that doesn’t mean I think it’s boring.
Well said. Enjoy. 😊
Christina Reynolds Good point. I guess that explains the paradox.
It's relaxing and beautiful at the same time. :-)
Don't know about the rest of the world but a few years ago "sakte TV" (translates to "Slow TV ") just exploded in Norway. There are so many of them now it's crazy. Many of them hours and hours long. Different train rides (this one f.ex has one for every season), famous boat rides like "hurtigruten" and a few others, a walk through the mountains, even an 8 hour long knitting evening were they start with shearing a sheep and end with knitting a sweater. All in real time, called "minute to minute". For the 10year anniversary for this concept they even filmed a "live" clock with people "constructing" the time with planks for every minute that ticked by for 24hours 🤣
Try it on .75 playback speed. It slows it down some more.
It’s actually my dream to be on a long distance scenic train ride like this. Honestly. And as I’m typing this I’m getting emotional cause this fantasy has been in my heart since I was 8 years old. And this video just brought me back to my childhood where things were stress free and I was comforted by being in a safe home and watching masterpiece-theater with my grandma. And now lol I’m living in my car and I have no one. And damn. Things are soo damn sad right now

The comfort train. Where all of my fellow passengers feel safe and warm. Have a hot drink of their choosing. Worry about nothing and no one. Nap without worrying about their mouths hanging open or if their snores will be heard. All passengers on this train want the same as you. To feel this bliss of life. There are no a$$holes aboard. So close your eyes. We are in good hands with the conductor 🙏
Destination: Peace.
Just joy and love to the soul. Thanks. 💖
Wow. So beautiful.
❤️
Snap. Snap. The train is the great vehicle that we all are on-- aboard and heading forward towards true north, yearning for a life of adventure, guided by the hands of the conductor--not a conductor of symphonies, but that of the clickety clack of 19th century wheels in a 21st century environment. No one shall worry about open mouths when we are fed by the spiritual fruit of the rail. We hope that each passenger feels this similar sense of commitment to the relationship between the self and the locomotive engine. Uncertain is the destination for we know not when a passenger decides to simply get off--Nor do we understand the speed at which we arrive to that destination, while each one of us holds the key within ourselves. That is the key.
I had no idea what I was clicking. Glad I did. This is Awesome! Sweet dreams Evry1.

In 1953 or so my grandma took me from Wisconsin to Portland Oregon on the NP. We stopped at nearly every station. Sleeping on the train was wonderful. This brings back very pleasant memories. @@sylviahinojosa8558 Thank you very much for this train trip ... Loved it ... Fantastic. 😊
@@Bababouy you must understand slot of languages 😂

When I went to Texas with my grandmother who came to New York to get me, we went on a train for 3 days and it was absolutely magical and beautiful. And I was only 10 years old. It was such a wonderful trip that I'll never forget it.
There's just something so romantic and beautiful about riding on a train on a long trip.
Thanks for visiting and sharing. 🙏😊
Whoa, first off--Hold up? Your grandmother is how old and she drove from Texas to New York just to pick you up and where did you guys travel since it was a 3 day tour? What was magical and describe the elements of beauty that were discovered in the 72 hour period of family time on the rail? I hope that valuable experience will not leave the mind within a one to two decade period, as one of the commentators believes in respect to the retention of happy memories.
In the UK, a a small cluster of leaves will stop our trains running😅. Excellent video and very calming just before bed.
Glad you enjoyed. Many thanks. 😊
I'm going to my cabin to sleep.
I'll see you for breakfast
Sounds good.
Morning Ron !! Wakey wakey :)
@@rippi37 I'm gonna eat and turn in early tonight.
@@midnighttrucker19 Nighty night :)
Good night
I actually like to play this on my second monitor while I study for my CPA work. Makes me feel like I'm on a long winter voyage and I need to prepare for an important meeting with the chubby CEO of an international toy manufacturer.
John Doe, John Doe you're really funny.😂🤣🤣🤣 Good luck with your meeting.
ROTFL What a great comment
I see it far more as taping into an ancient understanding that is forward momentum--inertia. You see the train move forward while you, yourself move forward in studying for the CPA certification. One begs to ask, are you as steadfast without this train in the periphery? If so, congratulations.
@@user-yp7kk9sw5b to answer your question, I'm designated now so yes 😎
Its getting colder, here have some tea and coffee ☕ 🍵
Lovely! Thanks. 😊
Best sleep I ever had was an overnight train in India. I slept the whole night, without any kind of waking. Only felt like 10 minutes, but was about 7-8 hours. Nothing but a pillow, a light blanket, and the leather fold down bed, 4 beds to a compartment.
Thanks for sharing. Glad you liked it . 🙏😊
Stuck in my home because of caronavirus, this provides a wonderful escape
Enjoy.
I agree, and what a natural way to get sleepy.👍
Who doesn’t love trains? Very cool video. Thanks for the upload. In 1970 I traveled across the US from California to New York by train. The trip took four days. I think most folks don’t know how FLAT much of the country is. When we reached the East Coast and swung north we finally entered rolling hills and trees and I began to feel like I was in familiar territory. Back to the coast of southern New England with the tang of ocean air. There’s no place like home.
You're very welcome. Thanks for the nice comment.
Oh, how that must have been a wonderful train ride. 😀🚝
I took the auto train to Florida with my parents, 6 years ago today, a very relaxing as we had a roomette on the lower level of the silverliner cars, I just listened to the horn, and faraway roar of the two locomotives, and watched the scenery whiz by, I always wanted to do it again, I just never got time again to go
Very nice comment. I imagined your thoughts and words.
@@Sano_Kiyoshiro Hope you do it again. 🤔

Yes peace, rest and quiet. Wouldn't it be lovely for a young person to go to sleep listening to this? But they never will 😔
Yes. Don’t worry.
Says in a sleepy tone: "can you wake me up when we get there?...I am gonna take a nap." (Yawns)
This is great.....majorly relaxing and beautiful ride! Thanks for posting.

This is so brilliant, and the winter landscapes too. Thank you, the only problem is I want to watch it and not sleep. X

I love this. I love winter and the sound of the train is so relaxing to me
Same here! Glad you enjoy it! 😊
This is so soothing to me. I'm 55 and I've crossed Canada several times by rail and each time was an adventure: from long delays in the middle of nowhere from various rail company problems to partying with people from all over the world in the bar car!! But the scenery: stunning each time. I'd see something new every time. Highly recommend taking the journey but factor in extra days due to train delays and such! Lol Great memories ❤ thanks for the upload
You're welcome. Thanks for visiting and sharing. 🙏😍
Does the conductor or has the conductor "partied with people on the train" while the train is in motion? If so, was the song, "Do the Locomotion" playing? If not, both are violations of ethical train behavior according to expectations in respect to safety protocols. You are a 55 and I imagine this happened a while back.
@@user-yp7kk9sw5b Half the comments on this video are lies. People who are 55 years old don't make playlists called "Joe Rogan Podcast" and "Chill Out Sh*t."
This is wonderful. I loved watching the trees go past. Helped me fall asleep quickly.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for sharing. 😊
Love, love, love this. However, I can’t sleep for watching the scenery. It’s beautiful.
Regards! Thank you very much for the lovely comment.
Isn't the snow beautiful when it hasn't been trodden down by anything. So pure.

My hubby and I took trains frequently on a trip to China. We purchased sleeper cars with the exception of one “bullet train” that traveled at 300km/hr. In the class we purchased there were 4 bunks in each room and we bought two of them for each leg which meant we might have to share a room with someone we didn’t know(only happened once). It was such a wonderful way to travel and watch the countryside float by out the window. There were some downsides to it but all in all we loved it. No matter what, we would board the train, get settled in and about 30 minutes after the train began moving, I was sound asleep. The time between our destinations could be anywhere from 10-14 hrs.
Interesting! Thanks for visiting and sharing. 🙏😊
Now you can go from Eastern China to Amsterdam by 🚆😂🎉, via Russia 🪆
Did you sleep the entire 10 to 14 hours? Also, can you explain what was undesirable? Could it have been that one time you had to share a bunk? I hope that your experience in that regard was merely dissatisfaction due to personality over genealogy. Though I say this only in the sense of feeling as though you may not enjoy the surprise presence of strangers on high speed rail.
@@user-yp7kk9sw5b We slept well, the rocking of the train pit me right out. During the day we enjoyed watching the scenery roll by, it was pretty interesting. Well, I’m not sure what you mean by personality over genealogy but one of the downfalls was the toilet situation. Our first room was right next to the toilet and it smelled really bad which then permeated into our room. During the stops, the door to the toilet was locked which may be completely normal for trains but I have little experience traveling on trains. We brought our own food in and luckily we had purchased these large containers of noodles that you add hot water to and I used an empty one once while the doors were locked, I was desperate and the need to urinate didn’t hit me until the train was stopped, that’s when we discovered the doors were locked at stops. It wasn’t that big of a deal, and before our next train ride I bought perfume to spray around if we were next to the toilets again. The public toilets in China are all squatting potties and they smelled to high heavens but they did the job. The only time we had a visitor was late at night when he came in, climbed into his bunk and we all went back to sleep, no problem and he was gone before we woke up. I was disappointed at this because I would have enjoyed maybe talking with him if he spoke English. The other drawback was that they don’t apparently change linens on the bunks in between customers. I just stripped the clean bed on top and exchanged linens, and we had our own pillows, again not a big deal for me, but I can see some people getting a little freaked by this. It really was a wonderful way to travel. The trains were old but well maintained. The bullet train from Beijing to Xian was a very unique experience. We traveled independently around China for 3 weeks and had a wonderful time!
