    4:56 My favourite Seagal story was the one Sylvester Stalone told about Seagal shit-talking Van Damme at a party back in the 90s. He kept going on and on about how he could kick Van Damme's ass any day of the week, but the moment Van Damme called his bluff and said let's take it outside Seagal mysteriously vanished. Van Damme actually went after him and challenged him again and Seagal kept making excuses about why he couldn't fight him then and there.

      Space Ice has taught me that Steven Seagal is the laziest tub of fat crisco-titty lard in the cinematic universe.
      I'm pretty sure in most of these "films" he's a producer of some kind so it's not like they didn't want to pay him to walk down stairs unless he was just literally so bad at it that they'd rather have a double do it. The most hilarious shit I saw was some scene where he's fighting this 'end boss' girl and they transition from hand flailing at each other to out of nowhere the girl ducking a kick being thrown at her where the leg barely grazes the screen. They tried to make it look like Seagal randomly threw a kick at her but they couldn't even get him to posture himself to look like he was throwing the kick before cutting to the stunt leg.
      Since the most action mobility he has is slightly raising his knee a little bit then they honestly do probably have to do multiple takes just having him do a short scene where he jogs across screen. They have to be like "ok good work Steven, let's run that back again but this time when you're jogging try to make it look like you're not made of marshmallows."
      Next scene when he has to crouch down and look under a bed for something they're just like "ok look let's just have Randall do it"

    Credit to Connery, he didn't realise his wrist was broken, he just thought it was a strain. Then he found out a few weeks later during a medical checkup that it was broken. Connery was a genuine tough guy by the sounds of it. Decades earlier he'd been attacked with a gun on set by a LA Mafia guy who flew over to England because he was convinced Connery was having an affair with his wife one of the actresses on the film. Connery proved himself very worthy of being Bond by overpowering his attacker and marching him off set in an arm lock.

      It's interesting because legally, I'm not sure if rules were different back then but (could be wrong, not a lawyer or pro at anything) I think it's illegal to say you're an officer, same as serving in military, if you're really _not_. If what's true that they swore him in as a temp gimp for the show only; the force should be ashamed of themselves for giving this Putin traitor even a badge that says Barney Fife, Mayberry N. He could barely take on 30 boy size men with no muscles as seen in his martial arts video so how is he going to take on real criminals who wouldn't mind breaking his face with a pipe before he gets a chance to say "Youways areova pounk. Akido is a martial art he loves and it's all about throwing people around. It's completely reactionary. But he goes way, way over the top to make himself still look badass even though he'd just old and made of pudding now.

      It’s entirely for self defense and Steven Seagal managed to turn it into a big joke. It’s mostly about leverage and controlling your opponent and when done correctly quite effective (especially to defend yourself).
      The defending against multiple opponents is called Randori and is actually real, but not like that.
      And I am pretty sure his black belt was purchased in Serbia or something like that. He basically did established titles before established titles.

      I'm a black belt in aikido. Steven Seagal is a joke even within our community.

      Bullshit. The guy who got him into movies admits that the demonstration they did for studio heads was rigged. Stunt men who pretended to be thrown around by him.

    • @eibh
      @eibh Год назад +8

      Yes, this is why he's a joke even within our community. You can see in the video Kevin shows of him "throwing" people about, the "moves" he's doing aren't even aikido techniques, he's just flapping about with terrible form at that. The people running at him don't even have the proper footwork, and neither does Seagall. If you look on RUclips you can find videos of demonstrations by actual sensei, and you'd see the difference between a real enbu and Seagall acting in an instant.
      Seagall is perhaps the worst thing to have happened to aikido. Our martial art focuses on form and body movement as an art form, and he tries to portray it (badly) as some kind of elite fighting technique which it isn't, and shouldn't be viewed as.

      isn't aikido meant to be used with a baton in hand or is that only when it's paired with kenjutsu

    me and my brother used to laugh so much about stephen segull in our childhood, he was our local meme: the way he fights, the way he walks and talks. we always forgot his name and simply called him “wardrobe with a head” (in my language it’s sounds fit and funny). when he became citizen of russia, i laughed out loud - it fits his bizarre appearance so well
