Holy Cow! These are so beautiful! im making a bunch of them in layered rainbow colors to hang in the trees in our yard for my daughters rainbow party. Thanks so much for making this tutorial. its the best ive seen of any DIY tissue decorations. Unique and stunning!
Thank you! Two years ago I used this design for a Brooklyn Botanic Garden Cherry Blossom festival, in a performers'/VIP reception area. Made 36 of them and they were gorgeous! The guests and performers were asking for them afterwards. It made for an easy cleanup! My only fear was them going to waste! Some still hang on office doors, only need a little fluffing, now and again.! I spring on those lids when I see them!
I would make these with plastic tablecloths. I use that instead of tissue paper for hanging poms. Weatherproof and very durable! Can’t wait to make these for my granddaughter’s wedding reception!
Stick THAT on your prom dress! ;) Love this idea--would be great for so many different things--fashion shows, store displays, classrooms, stage props--thanks for being so creative and inspiring!
I love you! The flowers are soooooooooo beautiful! I have become so addicted to making flowers and I love to see the expressions on peoples faces when you give them a handcrafted flower. Thank you for this idea.
That is so cool! I once thought of putting goldfish bowls with a couple of fish in the center of each flower, and have them lighted somehow... I'm sure your Concepts teacher will be blown away by your project.
Nashville Wraps paper is a nice big format and high quality compared to dollar store paper. But I've used both with success. Good luck with your project!
To make a flower with a different-colored center, make the giant flower as shown in my video. Then make 6 small flowers in the color of your choice. (Use a stack of about 6 sheets of 8" square paper, accordion pleated, paper-clipped at the center and with the layers pulled up.) Assemble the giant flower as shown in my video, then hot glue the small flowers right on top of the center of the giant flower. This way, the alternate-colored center will look nice and full.
Me encanta todo lo que veo,lo que hacen,,,,,,estoy enamorada de todos estos preciosos trabajos. Que vivan las artes manuales. Desde Colombia un saludo cariñoso y un fuerte abrazo!!!!
This is just what I needed!!! My final project for my Composition Concepts class involves scale/perspective so I'm making 5 flowers with gradated colors. (dark pink, light pink, peach and then black, dark blue, light blue) I also have a small maybe 7 inch bird cage with a couple fake birds in it. Not quite sure how to incorporate it yet though. Anyways... THANK YOU!!! ^_^
Certainly. Simply experiment. Adjust the size and number of sheets in the petals. You can also do a four-petal flower instead of five. The plastic base comes in various sizes. Look in the supermarket or at stores like Party City. Good luck!
I love these flowers! I am going to make some for a graduation party. I wanted to know how to make the center a different color, but I see someone else already asked. Did you use 20 x 26 or a different size paper? Your flowers seem to fill the container better than mine. Gorgeous flowers! Thanks for sharing.
Krystamichelle, you can buy the trays (lids actually) new at a place like Party City, or you can get one when you buy a big party tray of cookies, cut veggies, cold cuts or cheeses at the super market.
love the the giant flowers. I want to make the purple one with different colored center, how did you do those. Can't wait to make formy granddaughters room!
Beautiful! I'm wondering about the lavender/purple flower shown in the photos. I don't see dark purple tissue paper in the petals, but it is in the center. What would I have to do different for similar results? Thank you!
