I’m a 40 year old blues pianist and I also fell in love with them. I think because of there different styles of genres they can do. Their high dance skills make them special. And besides that their different personalities make them unique, still keeping the bar high with hard work….love them ❤

Probably the only girl group that doesn't sound girly or bubbly (they can when they need to). They actually sound badass 🤘🤘🤘 And everybody's rapping! I appreciate that in 'vocal heavy' songs the rappers are kinda in the background and vice versa, in their rap heavy songs the vocals are support but still kicks 🔥🔥🔥
All 7 Raplines🔥 XG's Multicultural Concept is one not seen before. Part of XG Artistry Concept they're Aliens from another Galaxy. XG always includes their Alien Concepts in their Music Videos for ALPHAZS can see. All 7 members are Vocalists, Rappers, and Dancers. Hinata, Juria, and Chisa, raps occasionally.
I definitely feel like this was the intended destination for their music all along. Mascara and Tippy Toes sort of eased people into the XG world and then once you were there they served Shooting Star, and from then on the eating has been phenomenal.
Well said! I feel like that they did that to show we can do the regular kpop type formula and show investors how skilled the girls really are. The dances are hard for those two releases. Then they were able to go their own direction based on what the girls like and Simon sees in them🐺

honestly part of the feeling of authenticity in the recent lyrics for me comes from all the hate from literally every angle. Like when they talk about the haters and say "all the merrier" they really fkn mean it. they don't give a shit at this point lmaooo and I love that for them. Cocona shaving her head is the nail in the coffin. They said screw it, we'll just do our own thing.

On the shaved head... In Japan, if a woman cuts their hair drastically, people will ask if she has recently broken up with a partner. Women (especially) may also shave their heads if they have made a very large faux pas/ mistake. They cut off all their hair as a type of self-punishment.
So, the normal rhetoric around this feels like something bad has happened. But I feel like the way Coco does it here feels like a reclamation. It is her choice. She has not been forced and nothing is wrong. She is not going to live the womanhood society says she needs to. This is the womanhood she chooses.

As a femme who has been shaving their head for 15 years (yeah, I’m old) I’m SO PROUD of Cocona for joining the club! It’s so brave, especially doing it as an idol. Like you said, it’s the ultimate middle finger to the industry and society at large.

Every single part just catches your attention! And I could not agree more on the fact that no one is doing it like XG! I think I can understand how you felt with their first releases. You can even see it in their behind the scenes, I wanna say it’s because they were just coming into their own. Ever since I got into XG Cocona has been the most inspirational to me and for her to make this choice just makes me so proud of her never stopping to be herself!

Oh and I'm a nerd so I have to add that the last time someone had hair half as iconic as Cocona's shaved head was Dara of 2ne1 having an actual side shave way back in the before times. Honestly, XG feels like the first group that are true successors energy wise to 2NE1. Not to compare them, obviously they're hugely different, but they give me that same "I don't give af, I don't care about your standards" attitude in a way that no one else does. Since I'm a big ole' Blackjack this gives me something I've been craving for years. I think a big part of it is that their focus isn't appealing to a sexual gaze. These are female power fantasies they embody, and it really changes the dynamic of how they present themselves. Truly XG are in a category and class all their own.

Coco said "XG about to break your idol stereotypes" She's just making sure she's not a liar. Apparently her parents say she's actually wanted that hairstyle for a while now so it's great to see Simon just be like "Yeah fuck it. We can work with that it's just hair." Where other CEOs have not been so chill about stuff. Even MMM had their CEO specifically tell them not to change their hair before debut (To which Hwasa IMMEDIATELY and summarily fuckin' disregarded like the queen she is.) Personally I did love Coco's hair before. But she owns this shaved head look because she just fuckin' owns everything she does and hearing you explain it in those specific words really gives me a whole nother side of it which I really resonate with. I also love that it's a way for her to be like "You keep talking about my hair? Fine, I'll maliciously comply. Now find another reason to hate on me."

I feel the first 2 releases were more of a proof of concept to show AVEX this is what we can do, imagine if we had a bigger budget. And it looks like AVEX was convinced seeing the quantum leap in quality starting with Shooting Star. I also agree with your take that there is always an intent behind anything XGALX puts out, visually, lyrically even in the choreography.

it actually is the opposite for me, i usually feel the "inauthentic feel" for most kpop groups. xg is one of the very few groups that feel so authentic to me. i find it hard to watch music videos or performances for kpop, i can listen to them fine, but trying to watch them perform the songs is what makes it hard for me.
there are a lot of kpop songs for me that i only listen to. but with xg, i know there's art accompanying the songs so i watch them every time and the mv is tattooed in my mind. each member gives their 110% and they embody the song and performance every. single. time. the passion for the craft and dedication to the concept is on equal levels for all of them which makes them a very coherent group. they know the vision, they see the vision, and they execute perfectly as one.

So in the documentary series we saw how Simon worked on music like Shooting Star and Mascara before the girls even debuted and I just think that he always had the vision for the girls to go off this hard but the budget was limited at the start. Tippy Toes and Mascara were a preview of their skills.
I can understand why Avex was a little hesitant to go all in on XG, I mean a group of Japanese girls promoting in Korea (where there’s so much tension between the two countries) singing in English… very unprecedented and the whole thing could have flopped immensely. Simon knew all of this which is why he made sure he created the best team so their talent could speak for itself and it did.
20:50 I think the shaved hairstyle is in general a very extreme representation of courage. I'm a Male ALPHAZ and I can tell you how f'ing frustrating a bad haircut would do to you. Hair is a shield, a cover and to many, its their pride and confidence. To me, Cocona shaving is head IN AN MV!!! is one of the most courageous thing I have even seen. She doing this is like screaming to the world I DON'T F'ING NEED TO HIDE MYSELF. THIS IS ME, I LOVE ME SO FEEL FREE TO LOVE ME!

Well all kpop groups you listen to, most of them, especially the girl groups don’t write any of their songs so why is there a connection that you feel they have to their songs that you didn’t feel XG had to their first songs that make them “authentic”? New Jeans, Aespa, Blackpink, Twice, Illit, Leserrafim, Itzy, etc.
It's very difficult to explain. It's not really about whether or not someone actually participates in the writing, I guess it's more whether or not it sounds like something they *would* write, in words that they would use? Maybe? Tbh it mostly just a feeling that I get and it's not group specific, it's song specific. Some songs just sound more authentic to the group and members themselves than others do to me. I wish I had a clear answer as to why but I dont its just one of those things. And it certainly isn't a bad thing or anything against the girls, it's just a personal thing that I have 🤷
You are right, and Cardi B? She didn't write her own rap. Some people are meant to be performer but I saw Maya and Cocona are also co write Show You Can. In future Maya could involved better because she speaks english
