Daihatsu Sirion (Miss Daisy) Bodywork repair assessment!

- We have a chat with Lewis at @WhitelandRestorations to plan out some work to improve Miss Daisy, our 1998 Daihatsu Sirion. Work centres on a dented rear quarter panel, but may include further rust removal as we go. But far from farming the work out, the plan is for us to be involved with the repairs! A bit of a teaser as we suspect we won't squeeze into their busy schedule until late January. Can't wait! Go and give them a subscribe in readiness, as they'll cover the work in more detail.

Microphone attached to a wiper blade is pure hubnut
Thinking to myself Ian's gone and got a new mic, then realised it was on a wiper. Pure Hubnut
I love it. I'd like to see it in future interview or interview-like content. It could become a signature feature of these sort of videos.
Beautiful Hubnuttery.
@@HTMLEXP Well, it is the second time Ian has used a wiper. Also used a spatula once before
I've been really impressed with Lewis and Leanne's work so I'm sure Miss Daisy will look even better in no time. Really looking forward to seeing the work get underway
Lewis is the man!
Looking forward to seeing this project get started on the bodywork of Miss Daisy.
Lewis and Leanna are the best. If I only I lived near them
Green motoring: Moss... Loved it! Thanks Ian. 🙂👍
I am having the same problem with my 1986 Fiesta MK2, repairing a small rust spot and drawing the line before it becomes a total restoration.
Miss Daisy is such a lovely little car.
The Favorit polishing video is one of my favourites! Hilarious!
Terry Wogan would be mighty jealous of that!!! 😂😂🤣🤣😂😂
I appreciate the partnership HubNut/WhitelandRestorations very much. Both channels are huge fun to watch. Really! Thank you for your work and Merry Christmas to everyone. Love and Peace!
Inferested to hear what products are now better than G3
One of the dangers of looking over bodywork, the "ooh, there's that there too, and that bit, maybe this as well", all adds up 'til you've got it in bits hoping to get it back to showroom... :P
Two of my favourite RUclipsrs 👍
Two more sleeps until I get my HubNut beanie hat - can't wait.
Another year of great content Ian - best wishes to you Miss HubNut and the Hublets for Christmas
A wiper blade for a microphone very HubNut I love it.
Merry Christmas to you and Miss HubNut & the Hublets.🎄
Miss daisy getting her bum repaired
another great video has always Ian and miss hubnut and hublets and hubmutts 👍
Nice, will be cool to watch the repairs 🥰
I followed a lovely condition Daihatsu Sirion with the sportier bodykit version the other night.
Don't worry Ian doing bodywork repairs on Miss Daisy will probably be less strenuous than restoring a LNER railway carriage made up of ultra rare teak wood (my Saturday enjoyment at the Severn Valley Railway)
Good work. I personally would have simply left the dent as it was. i would have used some primer and paint to cover the bare metal to keep the rust from starting but that was it. Those are its battle scars from dealing with London. it probably got bumped more then once there. Anyway Happy Christmas and New Years to the Hubnut family and I hope 2023 is good to you all.
Problem is, you don't know what state the panel is in on the other side so it needs dealing with, and I don't rate my chances at getting a good paint match with rattle cans.
These were quite fancy for their segment when new. It's worthy of the best attention.
Absolutely brilliant video Ian 👍looking forward to seeing the videos to come brilliant
Good to see there are going to be some body work on Miss Daisy and Miss Hubnut is keen to learn how to repair the paint work and dents on cars
Merry Christmas to all!
I think that might be the record for the longest sustained ptchooo.
Looking forward to when some back to black is added to the rear fog lamp surround too 😁
‘Tip top’ the new HubNut strap line. Perfect 😍
Have a hub nut Christmas greetings from Scotland thanks 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great work as always
I'd love it if this car eventually ends up being a minter. There aren't many Sirions that could be described as mint.
Nice little K11 Micra there too - they used to be quite common here (Australia) but I fear many were the victim of airbag recalls. They’re quite sought after now, especially the hot version (1.3 DOHC 16V)
i bought one of these off my dad do to up! will be following this series. weirdly it has a dent in the exact same place 😆
Merry Christmas 🎄👍👍
I do admire people with the skills and knowledge when it comes to bodywork/painitng. I've always made a total pigs ear of it, so leave anything like that to someone who knows their stuff.
Looking forward to seeing how it all turns out, and how far you want to take things, without losing the character of her. She needs a bit more oomph with some of those hills where you are, always remember my Dad bottling out on some really steep roads on a Welsh holiday in his Sunbeam Imp (probably the bags of sand under the "bonnet" to keep the front wheels on the ground didn't help much)
Hi Ian two great channels yours and Whiteland Restorations looking forward to watching the videos. All the best to you and your family
Excellent that both want to learn, pick up new skills!
I do like the Daihatsu Sirion, glad that you saved it, and that you are enjoying it!
Miss HubNut (Carly), once she has aced Chemmie, she will be able to drive the Sirion, which will be easier being that it is an automatic.
boss at the end.... narration supreme...
Sum people have skills that others do not look forward to seeing how it turns out is good that you are keeping the car in a reasonable condition
Looking forward to seeing what happens next with this project. Happy Christmas and new year both. Rob
Will be great to see what Lewis can teach you two. Will this mean Hubnut fleet getting makeovers (Look out twc & Bob) even fibre glass might get a polish . Seriously can't wait as am looking to do my 2 mx 5s in the New Year.
Daisy shall bloom 🌹 brightly once more 🚗. Woo 😂.
Iv'e started but I may not finish !
Very hubnut wiper blade merry Christmas 🎅 🤓
I wasn’t even aware Daihatsu operated in the U.K. lol.
They were the first Japanese company to sell cars in the UK back in 1964.
@@cornishhh I learned something new today! ;D
AY UP MR HUBNUT
Merry Christmas 🚘🚙🚗👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
yay
At least no sharp intake of breath one knows that one will be paying an arm and a leg when that's heard. Forget the modern stuff a T cut and that Original Fine Wax man myself plus lots of elbow grease.
More of that rare Welsh moss seen recently in Foxanne's window slider base on the 'Foxanne's Follies' RUclips channel, or is this a London variety?😀
This is pure London moss. I think she lived under a tree...
Not too bad but imagine the full cost of that?
Aye. I hope we'll be showing why bodywork is not cheap.
Are these better then a alto of the same period
Weird thing is my Colt is 16 years old now and somehow has only a 1 inch rust spot on a rear arch , just passed the MOT again for another year though need tyres and brakes soon not bad for a £600 quid banger
Yeah on top of the differences of were the cars has been driven and how its been kept, there is quite a big difference in how good the rust protection is between brands. Curiously I have found that for cheaper cars, PSA and Renault in modern times got really good rust protection, dont know about Mitsubishi, perhaps they are also quite good for being a japanese car. But for sure cars in the 2000s are generally much better than older ones.
@@GoldenCroc Yeah i think i got a lucky one mate lol
That's like my 2001 Citroen Xsara Picasso. No rust at all and underneath is rock solid. Passes every MOT with no advisories. I expected it to rot away!
@@Clodhopping Yeah lucky we got 😀👍
@@Clodhopping My C5 mk2 was very solid. I rarely see the old early Peugeot 307s still on the road with any rust on them. My mums Dacia Sandero 2013 is spotless underneath, like new. Done 150k miles.. I would have figured Renault would have skimped on the rust proofing on their cheap brand but it seems not, well not too much anyway. Cheers.
Love the hand held microphone action. Not a fan of the clip on ones, I think it should be law that everyone uses a handheld microphone to communicate with each other at ALL TIMES EVEN WHEN NOT FILMING.
Now where is my medication......
I might have a bonnet if you want it
Thanks but the bonnet on this one is fine, and I'm struggling for storage space at the moment.
@@HubNut let me know if you need any other parts I’ll have a look if I’ve got some you could have for free
Thank you! Can't think of anything but will bear it in mind.
@OFFICIAL_HUBNUT your a scammer so S A D

Classic mission creep
Must you keep doing that annoying "phssst" thing at the end of your videos, it's now becoming tedious!
Sorry. More people complain if I don't do it...
Rumour has it there's a guest patchooo coming up soon. That should keep you happy!
I picture Father Ted's Prize Rover 213. HubNut with a Toffee hammer tapping on his Diahatsu chasing dents.
But looking forward to the repairs.
