Just heard this young singer on 774am, introduced by compere of nightlife ........ Shiels? Extraordinary, another unknown to me after close to 52 years of listening to many varied genres. There is another flush of talent coming through, what reminds me of, new folk music. She played this song, 'My mother, the mountain' on what sounded like a 12 string, scanning through studies deferred, and back to music. Truly something else in her phrasing, delivery, tone of voice etc. Wow.

Nannup Hotel, garden stage packed out and pissy, noisy as it gets, then Claire and her crew plugged in and it took until the first chorus for every head to be turned to the stage and all conversation to cease. Like someone said in a previous post, she was belting out the lyrics like Janis, but her phrasing and clarity made you feel like you had headphones on, and yet she was right there in front of you. She was mobbed after the last tune. Bet she sold a shitload of CDs. She signed mine (swoon😂)
