@@TheSpotify95 Thank you for taking the time out of your day to reply to my 2 year old comment. I haven't messed with my old laptop in a while, but I'll keep both comments in mind. Thanks a million ✌
Looked at lots of forums and videos. Yours was the first to suggest pulling the CMOS battery. Easiest fix of all for mine. FWIW, my light was blinking 3 long, 2 short.
3 flashses, short ones, just removed the RAM and put it back in and worked. (I knew I wanted to open the lid and I did picked the laptop instead and I accidentally droped it).
Thank you so much. Thought my HP 14 - 599 was dead. All I got was 3 caps lock flashes. This particular model doesnt have a CMOS battery. Removed the 1st 4gb ram & hey presto after a BIOS reload its sprang back into life & seems to be working much faster. I know now I shouldn't have bought the cheapest!!! My old Tosh never gave any trouble. I hope this comment might help someone else.
Thank you so much I have my sons exact laptop and is doing the exact same thing that you’re saying blinking and the power is the screen is black power button on I’ve been searching since yesterday for a step-by-step thank you so much I really appreciate your continued success
Hello, another great video. I have a similar problem. I get 5 short blinks 3 longs ones. It all happened after i did a bios update. When i started the software the program told me i could not do a UEFI bios update, but there was an option. "Only Bios Update" . So i chose that, after rebooting i get this caps lock blinking. I tried to hold Windows key + b or V. But it didn't worked. Watching you're video i decided to also remove the bios battery like you did. Unfortunatly it does not have the same effect.
I've had this happen to me before, I also can't stand HPs, but not just for their lack luster reliability, but also for their appalling build quality and washed out screens.
the bummer about my HP 820 G2... it doesn't have a bios battery!.... not a single battery to speak of except the rechargeable battery pack it comes with.... it's happened to me before... switched RAM slots and it worked.
Mine flashes 5 times, HD spins, it's a fanless. I spilled water through USB ports, at first I hadn't noticed and went on using it. It randomly went blue screen, I force powered it off, no power and as said 5 blinkings... I disassembled it completely and blowed the board with hair dryer Now I'm leaving it apart to discharge caps and bios battery... let's see if it's turning on tomorrow
Thanks for the video! Its a life saver! I followed the steps you mentioned and found that one of the memory was faulty. Do I have to replace it or the computer can run on just one of those?
I have a hp elitebook 830 G5 and the caps lock and the charger port are blinking all the time. Do you know what could be the issue? Thanks have a good day
I got an issue where there's 3 long blinks. I tried reset CMOS, swap memory modules but still no post. I noticed though that the LCD driver IC gets too hot the moment I turn on the power. What can be the cause and possible solution?
I had exactly the same thing when I took out the wifi card. When I put it back in, it worked again. So I think you'd have to check either the wifi card or the memory.
Have Caps Lock flashing only 1 long. Let it sit unplugged for days, still only 1 long flash, so not overheating problem. Any ideas what it is and how to repair this?
My old pavilion dv7 works fine. Aida stress test 1 hour, everthing is ok. Restart the laptop and black screen, cap and num lock flash onnce with 4 second pause. Changed psu. Changed ram. nothing. Wait for a while. like 1 hour. and all is good. Working all day long
got too hot....if the CPU gets over 100c it will go into thermal shutdown and refuse to start with the caps key flashing every 4 seconds (indicates thermal shutdown)
I have this same problem but whenever I reset the BIOS it works then does the same problem again. I probably have done Bios reset 20 times and everytime I reset it works straight after. What could be the problem? P.s. it only works for few hours then the same problem
Thank you for this very clear and instructive video. I have a 2 long and 2 short flashes on a HP spectre x360. There is no removable CMOS battery nor RAM. My parents bought their laptop back in late 2014 and it stopped working in early 2015. The caps lock kept blinking and there was nothing showing on the screen. Nothing in this video worked so I’m guessing it is the motherboard. I do not understand how the laptop would die out that fast 🤦🏻♂️
