Crazy thing is in FCW and NXT, he was a heel and had good mic skills. Trademarking the nicknames "The Boss" and "The Thoroughbred" given his family legacy. He was a good talker. So Reigns cutting scripted promos for the first time made his delivery cartoonish, robotic, and stutter as a face. I saw his stuff on the backstage and he's naturally charismatic, but he wasn't booked that way publicly. People wanted a confident face with a badass presence. We didn't get that, so it was tasteless on the mic until late 2018. Reigns fought so hard to change his contacts because the blue one hurt his eyes. 2019 with Corbin, I act like it didn't happen. As of now, acknowledge the Tribal Chief!

Roman has been on a hell of a role on smackdown since he returned to wwe last year. That's why he is the best heel in wwe. I acknowledge him on that. Also, i cannot wait for his match at summerslam next Saturday against john cena! It is gonna be a hell of a main event!☺🙌🔥🔥

Our Tribal Chief and frankly the night after wrestlemania I had never seen someone get that much heat let alone a guy who’s a face and the hell in a cell match just showed that Roman has the potential to be a great wrestler and an actor

I remember that night after raw. I’ve never seen such heat. Man got boo’d for 14 minutes straight until they got tired. Said his one line, then got a second wind of boos louder than the first. I thought for sure he was going heel after that.

The one time I was rooting against Roman was when he faced Undertaker.
Asides that, I've been behind him. And I never understood why fans booed him because it was "cool." Why boo A guy who's clearly trying his best to get better?
I would say that night on Raw, when Roman said, “This is my yard now”, that right here is when he should’ve turned heel. He was already getting so much heat from the fans that night anyway.
They Shield definitely one of the greatest factions ever, it’s a Prime example of how to use the talent from NXT.
Fact is that match between Brock and Roman at wrestlemaina Brock wanted to lose but Vince forced brook for the win so Brock got mad and threw the title at Vince
As someone who's always been a Reigns fan, I've loved the journey! I hated so many of the loss to Lesnar matches but its been a journey, happy to see where the tribal chiefs takes us!
Roman Reigns is a similar story to HHH. Will go down as a great, but the amount of effort they put into him at the expense of everyone else on the roster wasn’t worth it. They could have had fifteen Tribal Chief level characters by now and Roman would probably be an even bigger star if they didn’t try to fight the fans for six years
Not a fair comparison. Triple H had crazy backstage control during his 'reign of terror'. Roman, on the other hand, simply did as he was told.
And the Tribal Chief also makes his opponents look good in defeat. Triple H seldom made an opponent look good (can't really think of anyone outside of Batista).
Also, try take your political lens off and simply evaluate the character on its own; his portrayal has been masterful. We need this level of nuanced characters in pro wrestling.
The truth is regardless of the backlash he received in 2015-2018 Roman Reigns was and always has been a fkin star!! He takes the business seriously (he’s the only WWE wrestler that keeps up Kayfabe) and he is willing to do what it takes to make sure his performance is the best of he night. The creative screwed him up drastically when he was a face and Vince was being stubborn. That caused fans to chant blatantly wrong things like “you can’t wrestle” obviously we see not only can he wrestle but he can work his ass off with top tier talent and even get them more over than they were previously(e.g. Cesaro). I equate his struggles ironically to that of The Rock’s when he first started. Everyone remembers how rock’s first gimmick got him boo’d and he was a baby face, but when he was able to take his gimmick or persona into his own hands that’s when we were gifted with the people’s champion. And that is gonna be the same thing for Roman Reigns and he’s proving it right now bc he is the best professional wrestler in the world right now IMO hands down.

I agree. They probably just dislike him because he's being pushed too hard like Cena was. I've been watching his progress since he first arrived in the SHIELD and I knew if they ever broke the team up, it would be him and Seth for the next greats. Even though Seth did break up the SHIELD to join the authority. He ended up getting out of it later. So, yeah they are both my favorite, but mostly Reigns. I've continued to watch his character change until he got it perfect.

it’s how he won the rumble and when, I always liked Roman but it was the Daniel Bryan coming back before the rumble it should’ve been after, people wanted bryan to win the rumble
He botched a lot of lines, not so good promos, pushed too early to go after the wwe championship right after the shield disbanded.

Sorry I liked Roman Reigns all through the hate he received before now. That's a real fan, not fickle. Yes his lines were corny but he was being given a script and the personal hate he received because of it was pathetic and really not fair on him. It should not have taken a life threatening moment for people to warm up to him. Yes the heel turn helped. I respected Roman Reigns prior and now as a heel he is phenomenal. I love the Tribal Chief.

No one really hated on the man. In the end, it's a TV show. The fans hated his character. Most of us knew he was a great wrestler, with ample charisma and mic skills, AT doing what he does best, which was a man of few words, wrestling a high energy high impact style.
WWE turned him into the worst version of John Cena, when he was a cool badass who could have been loved from the beginning.

Yes I’ve always been a Roman Reigns fan since the day he came up on the ball roster in 2012
Roman was always good at wrestling and promos. Vince just shoved words down his throat. And also just overpushed him which made fans hate him. But this didn’t feel forced, and the fans responded by loving it. I’ve never not liked roman and I’m glad everyone else does
You know what WWE messed up at..... When Roman got hurt in Sept of 2014 and they had him doing via Satellite promo update on his injury. It was NOT NEEDED. They were trying to do the whole Stone Cold vibe in late 97. The whole he can't compete but we don't want you to forget about him. It was too much force down ppl throats. They should've save him as a surprise push for the Rumble Because he came back in December but it was too soon and they made it clear they were gonna really really push him.

This was the best move ever made for a wrestler, he wanted to go heel but wasn't allowed to, then he threatened them to make him go heel, and I'm glad he did

I did generally feel bad for reigns when it came to the cringy promos, I heard at the time that Vince McMahon was personally writing his promos for him. AND I COMPLETELY FOR GOT ABOUT THOSE DAMN BLUE CONTACTS! They should've turned him heel after he defeated the Undertaker, and the Raw after Mania crowd was livid and he only said one line and the HEAT was something else.
The fans was behind Roman vs. Triple H until Triple H did the DX crotch chop. Then fan flipped seeing Triple H as a babyface. I remember that moment because fans instantly started cheering Triple H for at that moment.

I was a fan when it wasn't cool to be a roman fan. The only one in the room telling my homeboys Romans gonna take taker out tonight y'all. Watch. And I ate up all the boos the Monday after when they booed him for beating taker I loved every minute of it. Lol now he's on top TOP and I'm loving even much more.
Only part I dont like is how they skipped the Shield vs the Wyatt Family. It was a gamechanger for all involved.

I was on Roman's side all the way through to the night after his Mania match with Taker, and they didn't pull the heel trigger. At that point I started losing interest in him but holy fuck the man is the best thing in wrestling as the Tribal Chief.

ive always been a roman reigns fan from the moment i seen him, but only my OPINION i feel like fans turned on him because they wanted other stars .. like 2014 everybody was crazy over reigns wanted him to win the rumble but then a year later he wins it like the fans wanted, and they turn on him.. in my opinion the fans always want something and then when they get it they want something new.

They should've had Roman turn heel in 2015, after the fans damn near booed him outta the building. If The Rock, "The Ppls champ" can't get you over, you ain't over, also he could've been heel when he beat Taker. They did right last year, with the Tribal Chief. I honestly think John Cena spazzed on him in the ring, he was voicing not only the fans, but the ppl backstage's opinion. You notice it kinda humbled him, then after a while he left with the leukemia diagnosis, another humbling situation that help ppl start to genuinely like him/ view him as a better superstar, instead of viewing him as an entitled family member of the Rock. That lead to ppl loving him as a heel now. He made him feel like a real dude and a confident well respected champion.

I will be just putting up some few things? Ok? Trying to be honest rn....The biggest problem so far is that the screenwriters and executives don't even think about eroding Roman's momentum. On the other hand, Roman's opponent is devastated and loses momentum, but Roman has become an invincible person who does not give any gaps in his momentum, even in the slightest way. As soon as there is a reverse reaction from his long-term reign, Drew, the realistic opponent written above, is neatly cashed in by Miz, giving the script to lose the championship, giving Bobby Lashley a clean catch, and moving him away from the championship for a while, so that the audience is positive through the confrontation with Jinder Mahal. In contrast to raising the public reaction again, whether or not there is an adverse reaction, the scriptwriter is feeding various players while Roman is in power for a long time, and it is hard to believe that it is the No. This is the part where Vince McMahon's breath definitely works, considering that the forced push is actually the Hulk Hogan style that only worked in the 80's.
The moment Roman should’ve turn heel was when he defeated the undertaker we all thought he retired him and the nuclear heat Roman got the next night was the moment they should’ve pull the trigger

I had a similar thing through the wwe2k series (I wrestled irl for 5 years before injuries caught up I was always a heel decent one) in my 2k series I always tried to be a babyface but sadly never worked out . But when 2k20 bombed and I kept doing 2k19 for a second year I took a break and made a heel persona and it's been working since. I really wish I could bring that character to a real ring.

I was always a fan. But it did stem from the SHIELD. I saw his potential though I always figured he'd be the next Batista but they tried to make him Cena Lite and that was a mistake. If anyone should have attempted the cena template it should've been Dean imo. He had comedic chops and he was mostly the promo guy of the shield.
