To me the game reminded me of the times when I fallen asleep watching TV only to be wakened up by it some time after midnight only to see some weird cartoon then fall asleep again and in the morning not be quite sure if it was real. Quite sure that memory is of Xavier Renegade Angel. Zeno Clash 2 is interesting as well expanding on the weird things you can see but it does remove some of the mystery. Both games are something I recommend to friends since they are both quite short, cheap and definitely an interesting experience. They both work great as sort of palate cleanser between games that try to be hyperrealistic just to see that chaining yourself to reason and reality might not be the best way of making a game. Nice video BTW.
Recently found your vids through YT recommending me your big FEAR one and have been just bouncing around. I'm really enjoying these. Also, thanks for looking up the VA for this game, because yes, that sounds a lot like Elias Toufexis.
Thanks I really appreciate it! I always try to make something that I would want to watch so I’m really glad that it sounds like I’m doing the right thing
@@Spitiphone VEGAS Edit 20. It's alright, I've used VEGAS for a long time and a few different versions of the software and 20 is just everything you got before but cleaner looking I guess. Sometimes it crashes and It also has issues displaying a stable framerate in the preview window but honestly there's not too many programs out there with rep like VEGAS so It's a safe bet.
this game was always an enigma to me. many many eons ago i saw moistcritikal demo it and he didn't even give the name of it so i had no idea what it was for the longest time
The rats are squirrels. The assassin is blind and trains the squirrels to make noise when they come near a target (the player). This triggers him to fire at the squirrels fuses so that they’ll explode on or near the player. He explains this in kind of a vague way that I got pretty quickly, but in hindsight I can see how it could confuse you.
Also, when Golem says his creators are long dead, he doesn’t mean extinct. The world outside of Zenozoic presumably still exists, Zenozoic is just blocked off and the specific individuals who made Golem are dead
this is one of my absolute favorite games, i bought it only because it looked weird and i liked the city screenshots and had the most pleasant surprise with it. The world its amazing and the combat feels punchy and satisfying, and for the price i got it (literal pennies of the dollar for ALL of the games by the studio up to that point) i couldn't be happier. The pack also included other gems like rock of the ages and the deadly tower of monsters. Also i absolutely recommend zeno clash 2
Yoo. Awesome game! An hour in already, thanks for the video. I love surreal things. Both humor and horror. I know Northern Journey (Skyrim on Acid). Painkiller, Alice: Madness Return, Psychonauts, eternal cylinder, The Chant. And then some lovecraftian games like call of Cthulhu and Sinking City is somewhat mindfkk. Do you know some really strange and good one, it doesnt even really need to be that good^^
@@B4BrandossOG same her , and the eternal cylinder. But both Alice Madness returns and Psychonauts takes place in mad peoples minds. Both have way above satisfying combat and they also nail the atmosphere. Alice really feels like something in between Doom and Dark Souls combined in a 3d platformer.
I recently played this game for the first time, even though I bought it like 10 years ago on steam. I played and loved the new Clash: Artifacts of Chaos game, and found out it was set in the same universe, just 100s of years earlier. So I instantly played Zeno Clash 1 and 2 after that, and holy crap were they surreal! Clash was weird, but Zeno Clash really went beyond that. Also yes! When I started with ZC1 I also looked up if it was the same voice actor as Adam Jensen, but it appears it's not. Even though he sounds SO much like him!
@@Gatorade69 I thought it was pretty good. A simple, but well rounded story, with easy to learn and in-depth combat mechanics. Also had a nice variety of skins, weapons, fighting styles and moves. The dice mini-game is nice too, but I feel like it's not for everybody.
@@B4BrandossOG And the prequel, in the case of Artifacts of Chaos. Ghat, Deadra, Father-Mother and all others aren't a thing in AoC, it's set years before Zeno Clash 1 and 2. The story of Pseudo and the Boy is quite self-contained, though it does tell a bit more about Zenozoik's lore. If not for the story, then i do definitely recommend looking up the soundtrack. Really beautiful music.
Too ugly for its own good IMO. I personally enjoyed the gameplay and recommended it to a few friends and every single one told me the art style was too off-putting.
Oh my god... Years ago I find this game's models for garrys mod and port it without knowing what it is. I HATE EVERY MODEL, BABIES MOST.... And now I hate it more. Every inch of my being have been repelled by those.
Zeno Clash is the first game I got on Steam. I'll never forget it, been 11 years since then. I was just a kid, and I really wanted games on Steam, so I did what I figured anyone would do, and just googled "Free Steam Game Keys". I was on like, the 20th something page of Google, and I came across a Steam forum post, of someone saying like 'I have a spare key for Zeno Clash, here it is if anyone wants it.'. The post had no comments, so, like I had been trying for the past 20-ish pages on Google, I try my luck, and to my surprise, it works. I've never been able to find the original post, but I really wanted to thank that person. :)
You should consider donating to the developers since they are a small indie studio and their most recent Zeno Clash game apparently flopped. It's important to support work that you enjoy, because if you don't it won't exist!
The Corwids are something I won't quite forget. Just an interesting perspective the sane characters of Zeno Clash have on the insane.

the new one is amazing clash artifact of chaos
Love Pseudo and AoC's music.
Man, I really need to play this game. I love beat-em-up games where you can use your fists. Another great video B4!

This game seems heavily inspired by Xavier: Renegade angel
I guess now you're a Corwid yourself, with your focus being on leaving your knowledge on Zenozoik the same way it is.
