- The cozy port town of Fredrikstad is located at the mouth of Norway's longest river, the Glomma, on the banks of the Oslofjord.
Fredrikstad is very bright and varied, especially in summer, when life in the city is in full swing! On the embankment, there is a walking promenade and parking for boats. Sounds of music and delicious smells can be heard from all sides because there are many cozy restaurants and cafes for every taste.
On Isegran Island there is a shipyard where restorers of sailing ships work. And also there is a water mill and a cozy garden with beautiful flowers. This is a favorite place for picnics among the townspeople.
The arch bridge of Fredrikstad is a recognizable symbol of the city and connects its western and eastern parts by crossing the Glomma River. Its length is 824 meters, and the sailing height is 39.5 places. The river is navigable to the city of Sarpsborg and large ships and sailboats often pass under the bridge!
There are three more bridges across the river in the city center that connect Fredrikstad with Kråkerøy and they are all drawbridges! It is interesting to watch how sailing ships pass under them, stopping the main movement of cars and pedestrians!
The old town of Fredrikstad is shaped like a star and was founded as a fortress in 1567 by King Frederick II. By the way, this is the best-preserved walled city in Northern Europe. It is saturated with history, but this is not a museum - people live and work here. Also on the cobbled streets, there are cafes, artisan shops, galleries, and shops, and people have been shopping here since 1640!
And of course, in the video, you will notice that the red city ferries (Byfergene) run along the river! They connect all the banks of the city and are very convenient and completely free public transport!

How is it to live in Fredrikstad?Is it a good city for families with children?I live in Gothenburg(Sweden) but I really like fredrikstad too much.Does Fredrikstad have good hospital and healthcare,good schools,low criminality good job oppurtunities?Do you recomend to live here?Thank you in advance.
Hello! So nice to see you watching this video. Gøtheburg is a much bigger and more urban city compared to Fredrikstad and actually, it is just two hours driving, so you are welcome to visit the city before moving. The is a big hospital in Kalnes (Sarpbsorg), which I would say less criminal than Gøtheburg, but this is just a personal impression... Gøtheburg is a completely different rhythm of living. Some people like it, some don't.
Absolutely great place to live, the main hospital is the only thing thats not in the city anymore but its not far. Very low criminality specially at the suburban areas like Gressvik. Which in my oppinion is the best place to live if you want to live close to schools and easy access to the city center with the free ferry.

Спасибо, как всегда стараемся очень при очень😊😊😊 И особенно приятно и одновременно ответственно было снимать свой город!😁 Свои любимые места и домики!👍 Кстати пыль тут есть, но конечно не как в большом городе, да и мужчин никто не гонят, у многих трудятся на благо мира в семьях роботы пылесосы😂😂😂 У нас тоже есть - зовут Энигма... Правда на первом этаже живет... старательно ною чтобы мне и на второй поселили помощника (по лестнице Энигма пока не ходит)😂
Мельничное колесо в городе крутится для красоты, но когда-то там была мельница... А теперь это один из символов города!😊🇧🇻

Jeg bor i Fredrikstad/I live in Fredrikstad. Beautiful video, but just a pointer. Maybe you are switching the images a bit to fast, idk. Could be that I feel that way because I live here and want to have a look around (I know that I can pause, but that ruins it 😄). But as I said it`s just a pointer.. Anyways, such a beautiful city that I`m proved to be from. And besides my point, what a beautiful video 🤌
