    The one thing I would say i dont think you covered too much on the questing knights, is unbreakable units. Always the hardest units for bretonians to beat as they cant grind well. But against giants (also re-rolling psych from questing vow) or blocks of skeletons. Questing knights do shine

    if you actually read the rules for the blessing of the lady you would it says that your opponent wins the roll off in which he/she can choose to go first or second as it states in the rule book. you can still take the 1st turn if your opponent elects to go 2nd

  • @zenfunnyl7987

    Great video! I do wonder why you're so enthusiastic that Gilded Cuirass > Gromril Helm. You can run the math for different AP values: 2+/5++ (rerolling ones on the 2+) versus 3+/5++/5+++:
    AP0: Gromril saves a whopping 98% of wounds, Cuirass saves 85%
    AP1: Gromril 85% versus Cuirass 78%
    AP2: Gromril 72% versus Cuirass 70%
    AP3: Gromril saves 59% versus Cuirass 63%
    AP4: Gromril saves 46% versus Cuirass 56%
    The Cuirass (which is 20 points more than the Helm) is only significantly better against AP4, together with (e.g.) attacks which do not allow armor save, while the Helm makes you basically invincible against AP0 and is a fair bit better against AP1. I suppose you could argue that extreme AP attacks are the ones to be afraid of? On the other hand, there are other (admittedly less reliable) ways to give the lord a 5+++ (for example, Lore of the Lady spell).

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  11 месяцев назад

      Thanks mate!
      TBH its more feeling than having worked it out when Ive commented on that: theres been so many games (of any system) where having the triplicate save just makes units near invunerable so its the one I tend to gravitate to. I dont tend to worry about anything Ap0 or even 1 that much and by 2 and above (where my bum starts flapping taking saves) thats when I was thinking along wanting the 2 additional, non reducible, save rolls!

    • @benhadaway3322
      @benhadaway3322 11 месяцев назад

      Nice.
      The 5++ ward Assumes Str 5 or higher, which usually means GW or lances or monsters, most of which have a minimum AP-2. So the gromril is really a 4+(r1)/5++. Whereas with the Cuirass your getting triple chance to savce.
      I always take both, one on the BSB (Usually the Gromril) and run him with knights fighting rank and file. Then the Cuirass on your Lord who will be fighting enemy lords and beast which is prone to having higher AP values. Don't forget you can use Lore of the Lady spell Lady's Gift on the Gromril guy to get a 5+++ Regen as well, effectively 2+/5++/5+++ Vs Strength 5.

    Your Lord doesn't need to be an all rounder. The lord's main role in the army is to handle other lords on monstrous mounts, something that only they can do. So the Virtue of Heroism or Confidence is actually very important. If you end up not facing a monster lord and the virtue is wasted, that's actually great. Even without a virtue, your Duke should be more than good enough to handle normal troops.

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  11 месяцев назад

      I half agree but it’s just personal tastes I think of what you want to go for (as a strong “challenge” lord the way I want to set them up will also do well against monsters in my experience
      On the virtue of heroism: id personally rather spec into a multi wounds weapon that I’ll only need to wound than roll a 6to pull off on 4 attacks with them getting their ward to ignore that 1/3 or better. I’d agree when you get the spike it’s a killer but outside of that less so

      I’ve found my 6 knights to be neutered quite easily but matching them up appropriately or using them in tandem they’re fine
      Pegs are obv great as are grails (if the grail knights might be a bit expensive)
      Overall really looks like a solid list

    You mentioned the Men at arms Using the BSB reroll bc of the character, can you elaborate on that? They have the Levies special rule so they don't get to use the Reroll or General Inspiring presence. Or are you saying join a damsel or baron/paladin to the unit and have that model use the reroll? If you do that and have the Sgt at arms in the unit with warband they can get to ld 10. you have to use the highest leadership model. So how would that work? Are you using Sgt at arms ld10 (bc of warband buff) first, and if failed, use the BSB reroll on the ld7 damsel?

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  11 месяцев назад

      Hey mate, Good spot there!
      I may just be mistaken there as I didnt know you had to use the highest value!
      Its was joining the unit and then choosing when to use their lesser leadership with a reroll as you'd put (I dont know if you'd be able to reroll a dice using the different value)
      Or we sidestep the issue and use yeomen who dont have levy!

    Questing Knights are BACK!
    I remember when GW came out and changed great weapons to only be +1 str instead of +2 when on horseback and it absolutely took the already old questing knights in the already old bretonnian book and eviscerated them. Anyone still running Bretonnians at that point had to ditch them out of their army lists, which was sad because they were fantastic at fighting chaos knights and mid level monsters up to that point.

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  11 месяцев назад +1

      It depends what you want from your army really theres 2 approaches really IMO
      For peasant heavy id start with characters (damsel, sergeant at arms, BSB) and some mounted yeomen + a tree as these will allow for redirectors for your smaller units of knights to smash into the side of the enemy and something to weaken them up bofore they reach your lines
      For knight heavy, Id make sure to have a BSB, damsel and sergeant at arms (actually in both lists) a small unit of Grails (6) will provide a truly smash unit for you to drive your enemies before you id say as with knights being the core you need an option to atleast in combination take on the hardest stuff

      In terms of casual play probably quite good honestly; couple of heroes added in for punch to your lances, I don’t find errants much worse offensively than KOTR and you want to be charging anyway (so impetuous not too much of a downside)
      Pegasus knights and peg lords will come in in varying amounts really to make the army whatever level of competative you need I think

    -When i lose lance formazione, aster the fight, can I be again in lance formations?

    Very informative video, but I have to ask. Do you have any idea about taking characters such as green, Knight or King louen?

    • @BearfootMiniatures
      @BearfootMiniatures  11 месяцев назад

      Ive not studied them as much as I would have liked (as ive not used them) to put out a video on them but will certainly give my thought!
      The green knight: Not overly expensive on the face of it for the character when considering he cant be hurt by non magical weapons and cant be permanently killed but inbuilt with that is if he doesnt show up turn 1 its going to be t3 before he can get into combat and if he dies T4 after that hell come back T5 (maybe) and charge T6
      He has mid level armour and 5++ ward isnt great but more he's got something when someone gets through his ethereal, and his output being 4A and -1AP im not super hot on, more of a chaff killer because of it and is helped by the mobility
      Overall I think he's Great for use against Chaff and things without magical attacks but beware peoples lords etc which can tank the AP1 and hit back harder
      Cecil Gastonne: Cheap as chips for a character that attacks at S5 with monstersayer and multi wounds 2 so dont even have to just rely on the 6s to wound which I really like
      Not as much to say as the Green knight, but would have liked a mounted Option here (though fits my foot knight based army nicely)
      Lady Elise: 225 within realms of any lvl3-4 wizards with a couple of items and also mounted on unicorn: Solid magical defence, and any double being irresistible dispel is great and worth being lvl 3 not lvl4 id say just based on the defence, and having 2 sig spells is a solid addition as the Bret spelt are great IMO
      the Chalice is nice but really not what your coming for, and not being able to stack into a lance properly because of base size limits how close you want to get to enemies

    You've interpreted the banner wrong. It makes your leadership unmodifiable so you ignore terror -1 or spell debuffs etc. A "break test" pg 154, is a roll and the combat result is added to your dice roll and compared to your leadership. It's still good, but not as good as you're suggesting
