  • If you pull on either end of a rubber band, it stretches. But what about if you pull on either end of a steel cable, does it stretch? So the answer is yes, although maybe not very much. Let's work it out.

    9:49 why is the area squared?

      At 5:00 I say that the legs are square and 5.4 cm on a side, so the cross-sectional area is 0.054^2 in units of m^2.
