    i can play against good players and lose for hours without getting tilted, but as soon as my mindset slips into "this guy is so bad" im doomed. Because at that point i wont be happy with winning against someone bad, and god help me if i lose.

      I got down this the most when bad slayer got my opening and with brainless mashing. When i play GG, I am Playing. I not gonna destroy my opp, i go to my opp lvl, almost like talking with stranger. But this one stranger doesn't know much, but talk shit like he's right. Now im only at the point to say he's right or wrong only. He not the strongest character but he sure hold the most toxic. There always many type of people but just that many type of game character. i already play 1000 match on my holiday straight, circulating my bladder liquid back to my body. dint stop at anything. lose every time. win sometime but only one from two. sick for two day. get healthy and back to GG. Slayer came out i wanna quit but no. Dizzy came out wow.!, ??? fire spam so dumb slayer still dumb. play many match then. but now never since.

    0:15 "A lot of Ups and Downs"
    Say that again...
    Edit: Great video. I struggle with some of these mindsets myself, especially with the "I lost the game" in a lot of matchups. But the main one is the "I'm not improving" as I just play games. I try to balance the research/practive/matches the best way I can so that I'm evolving every single time that I sit to play but it's not easy. Some stuff take more time to learn than others.

    Speaking as someone whos also trying to get over shitty mental, I personally find that playing and putting hours into the characters that give me trouble to understand them better has helped a lot. Labbing interactions out after a play session is cool and all but getting a deeper understanding of the other characters by actually playing them in tower or the park feels great, its a nice perspective shift

    This video is awsome and your only spitting facts
    I'm someone who is really moody and damn near Bipolar, and having the mindset of that I can just bruteforce my way to the top because I don't think I'm smart enough to lab stuff can make those moodswings have me start thinking that I shouldn't play fighting games. It also doesn't help that I've been playing Ram since day 1, a character notoriously easy, and get angry messages from people just cause I play Ram somewhat regularly really starts to get to you as well. And when stuff like that starts getting to you, you stop being able to perform things that you used to easily.
    I honestly considered to stop playing fighting games all together and didn for a fair few months. It wasn't until I found someone in my local area who also plays fighting games that I started feeling motivated again. I started changing the way I played. I started studying my match footage. I tried my best to stay calm and examine why I lost. I started to see hate messages as true victories over my opponent as I've won both against theire character and their mental. And most importantly, I set smaller goals for my self and stopped complaining. And because I did that I have had explosive growth over the past 2 months, and have gone from being perma stuck floor 10 wash up, to recently cracking top 100 Rams(online at least)
    A good mental really is the key to becoming better, and more people really should know it too

    my mindset is really bad. i have cerebral palsy and i can't help but blame my disability for every misinput and i always get too hard on myself whenever i lose. i don't have the "goldfish memory" ability that other strive players have when shit hits the fan. i have of saying "well i lost" all the time, even if it's simply bursting at the start of the first round of the first game. i still adamantly believe i'm bad at the game
    i distinctly remember 3-2ing razzo at my local, just to get double 2-3'd in grands. i didn't even think about the fact that i won the first time or that i consistently get 2nd (often 1st if she's not entered). I don't even think about the fact that she praised me after, either. I just focus entirely on my fuckups and never on anything i do properly.

      @@DomiWurld i'm gonna try my best at frostys since top 48 isn't super unobtainable. it just feels insanely bad to lose to a misinput or struggle to do some things that people universally don't have issues doing at the highest level. it's hard NOT to blame my disability on stuff like that lol
      i can play whenever. i'm hardstuck 13-17th in tns and maybe i can eventually break through. my mental used to be way, way worse until i started consistently entering locals and winning them, and also getting 13th-17th consistently at tns.
      i'm trying not to take frostys seriously and focus on the social aspect since i don't get to drive and go around like other people so i'm trying to just focus on meeting people instead of sweating about winning or losing

    first off i needed this refresher cus iv felt like iv been in "the slump" for awhile now and i have a habit of developing a negative mindset. one of the big things tho thats helped me is getting off twitter (i still go back i should prob delete the app) 😭 i play hc and johnny for the simple fact that i thought they were cool (i played them on release i didnt know what they would become i swear) and scrolling thru twitter people would say shit that made me feel like i was only winning because of my chars. the nail in the coffin is back when i first started playing guilty gear coming from smash in season 2 i fought hotashi and beat him with hc and that pissed him off so he banned me from his chat saying some other things i wont say. for a long time i felt like i didnt deserve my wins at all and it took me awhile to recover from that mentally but now i always have a sour taste in my mouth with the egos in this community when i just felt like i was enjoying the game

    Unfortunately, ego is all I have when it comes to fighting games.
    I no longer compete in any brackets, so I don't have incentive or motivation to try and improve. Not to mention, FGC has shown to be full of hypocrites, so there's also lack of motivations on community side too. I'm also 40, so changes in life priorities leaves me with little time for hourly investments. That only leaves winning because it feels like that's the only truth left when it comes to fighting games for me. Someone's bound to say fighting game may not be for me, and you're probably right. I'm at the point where long term journey is not a viable route, I need everything now (as selfish as it sounds). Thank goodness for FFXIV, critically acclaimed...

    • @DomiWurld
      @DomiWurld  День назад

      I didnt enter brackets for the longest time due to the fear of people critizing me for my play. How can people hold me at such High standards just for me to not win? Its a TERRIBLE way to think but I couldnt help myself. For you I think u need to play. As of rn you dont have a name in the scene so this is good. You are the underdog. what do u have to lose? If you dont wanna play in brackets then I highly rec just playing for fun and finding a community. This game is FUN playing with others in VC and joking around. There is no age limit in the FGC.

    • @gekinetic
      @gekinetic День назад

      That's not entirely true, the no name in the scene part. I was competitive Tekken 7 player for while, until I got the first taste of hypocrisy in the community. I've tried to be part of other communities too, but it just didn't click. Nowadays, I cannot relate to any of the trash talks, I find them to be juvenile. I can't comprehend all these 'anti-scrubs' talk, they feel apathetic and sometimes hostile. Maybe it's my age, but I don't think I can connect myself to other people via fighting games, personality clash and all
      That leaves the only thing I have left as 'What have I got to lose?'

    I try my best not to get tilted, but it can be nerve wrecking when losing to johnny for not winning round start. It most certainly is important to remain calm as no player is perfect and you may have an oppurtunity to make a comeback and win.

I’m a fairly strong player but the biggest thing holding me back is mostly knowledge checks that other players at my skill level find very basic. I'm not usually scared of playing against good players, but I'm often guilty of comparing the tools of my character to other character's tools when I'm playing seriously. Like, for example, whenever I play against Elphelt, I'm not really tilted by the fact that she is infuriating to play against (every character is), but by the fact that Slayer's 5p can anti-air her grenade hop in the corner (at least I remember that it certainly was possible to do that in the past, not sure as for now) while Bedman's can not for some reason, and I go "well, if my character had my buttons as good as Slayer's, it would be way easier for me".
    I know it's pointless, but I can't help but feel envious of other characters from time to time.

    • @DomiWurld

      Yea I feel you. Most important thing is seeing what ur char can do and playing off that. Sometimes on other characters you just have to live with the fact that u might do lower dmg on punishes or you cant do x thing because the character dosent allow it. If ur playing multiple characters I highly rec making a chart of what character u wanna play vs certain characters. Sometimes its just not worth the mental stress playing what you like into a bad matchup

    I have played GGST for 765 hours, and recently I've been playing a lot with a friend who as of now, only has 181 hours. I often feel that they are better than me. I was a zato main until I felt he wasn't fun to play in s3 and switched to asuka. I play asuka because I easily get bored when playing. I learn very slowly, and they learn very quickly, on top of the fact that they play Slayer and I play Asuka.
