35:15 she damaged the bearing seal- start all over.
My favorite scene is 09:02. The steel hammer whacking axle shaft threads: Priceless.
At 18:42 can see seal on new bearing is damaged. While staking the snap ring is recommended you need to be careful. That's why I always attack the groove with a dremel to make sure it's free of any rust/debris. A coat of grease after won't hurt either. And the Camry uses a tone ring on the axle for ABS, bearing is not magnetized for this vehicle.
As a DIYer I dread replacing the wheel bearings on my car. Good job!
I used your video to change wheel bearing knuckle assembly on 2012 Toyota Highlander (front driver and passenger). I followed your video exactly & didn’t have any issues. I successfully changed the parts and the car drives great now. Thank you.
Thanks for the video. If you are not going to replace the ball joint it can be left attached to the knuckle assembly. Just remove the 2 nuts and one bolt from the lower arm. Plenty of clearance room for the press to work with it attached.
That's exactly what I thought. You didn't need to remove the lower ball joint out of the knuckle.
@@SheenTeam10 She did need to remove it from the knuckle because she stated she was replacing the Ball Joint. Doing this job and skipping replacing the ball joint that is fairly inexpensive ($30 to $60) is not a good idea for the do it yourselfer. Pissing in the wind to have to go back and do it later sucks.
what happens when a mechanic damages the bearing like it shows here on 18:42 ? Just wondering if the bearing would function properly after. Great instructional video
Good catch. Thats the grease seal that is damaged a little. The bearings inside don't ride on it but none the less it is damaged. If it were my vehicle I wouldn't feel comfy with it.
I wouldn't take the chance with it... could be no issue but could mess up the cage or seals and fail prematurely. Unfortunately you might not know and they say F-it and put it on anyway.
Many mechanics would say F it and put it on. A wire brush to clean the groove makes the clip go all the way, plus the 300lbs of torque on the CV nut.
I thought she was pressing on the outer part of the bearing, no?
The seal of the bearing is damaged, so this bearing is not seal anymore. The life of this bearing will be a lot shorter than expected.......
Wow, she makes it look so easy.. Excellent tutorial; not rushed, good pace and easy to follow even for someone who isn't so handy with a socket wrench and an air gun.... Also, not a whole lot of small talk that has nothing to do with the task at hand......
very well done video I used this as my guide to replace a wheel bearing on my 2012 Camry this afternoon everything went just as shown in the video. thank you.
Great video, I wish there was one without the expensive machinery, just simple tools.😅
Best lady tech. I've seen and I've seen some good ones believe me, Retired ASE Master Tech. 40 + years.
She dented the new bearing shield with punch when she tried to set the snap ring in. 12 oclock bearing position at 18:41 minute.
I have an entire kit that allows you to do this with an impact with the knuckle still on the car ... I wonder about these people sometimes..
Ps- that ring was in fine enough without the punch imho .. but if she wanted it to sit further all she had to do was clean the damn groove 🤦♂️
@@topherd1011 what is the kit called?
@@topherd1011 what kit?
Love the video. The inner race in the knuckle does not come out easily like she shows. I had to put it under pressure on the press, then heat the knuckle with a MAPP torch and tap with a hammer to set up a vibration. It did pop and let go eventually, then it pressed out as shown.
AT 18:42 YOU CAN CLEARLY SEE THE BEARING IS DAMAGED WHILE YOU WERE SMACKING THE SNAP RING WITH HAMMER AND CHISEL JUST TO FIT THE SNAP RING. RECHECCCKKKK!
The way she smack the driveshaft out the hub will damage the tread !! And you don't need to use ball joint separation fork to take out the lower ball joint , you can save the ball joint just remove the 3 17mm nut !! A simply bearing job , now you need a driveshaft , lower ball joint and a hut !! WOW I guess this is an auto part store video .
What on earth? You just let the caliper dangle by the brake line?
I was thinking the same thing
Why not this is Toyota... Not other crappy overpriced brand
@@yournightmare9999 then why does it need a bearing already??
Yeah exactly
Gently letting a caliper hang on a brake line won’t hurt the line, unless they can’t handle 30ftlb of force, last I checked they handle a hundred or more pretty easily.🤷♂️
Thank you for the video. Very Nice. You mention torque spec for many bolts except for the axle nut. You emphasize how important not to over tighten as it will rune the bearing but do not give us a torque spec. What is the manufacturing torque spec for the axle nut?
Torque Spec: 217 ft-lbs / 294 Nm
One of the better repair videos I've seen on you tube. Thank you.
This video helped me because I have access to a press at work but all the other videos show the slide hammer method of removing the hub from the bearing and I only have a 3lb dent pulling one and don't want to have to buy a larger one with the hub attachment .
Thanks for the video. It saved me a bundle. I already had the hydraulic press, so I said what the heck. No problem.
Do you have to get an alignment after doing this? Also, do you carry the whole assembly or just the bearings/hub?
Damn just left the brake line hangin
Many thanks
Very nice and neatly done
Filming is fantastic ,no dark and out of focus patches .
I have a question though and that is to ask for the torque specs ( the ones you gave for the Camry) for a toyota avensis diesel d4d 2012.
Please kindly help.
Thank you for pointing out the need to brace the inner ring of the bearing!
Thanks for the video. Can you tell if it matters which side does bearing goes into the hub on Toyota Avensis 2003 T25?
Good video_thanks. Do you recommend an alignment after this job even if car tracks straight on the road and steering wheel is straight with no pulling to side?
As a shop mechanic i saw some minor personal issues. But overall a very good video. Like others have said. No unecessary yaking about thier dog or kid or the blue car that went by. I would have done it a little difently, but overall, a great vid.
TThis is one of the very best instruction videos I've sern. She was clear, competent, calm, and Canadian. And the photography was excellent. I was never left wondering what she meant by the next step. And i have fixed my wife's car.
Peter, Sydney
I wouldn’t hit the axle shaft end with a hammer like that. If you are at least put the nut on the tip so you don’t destroy the starting thread...been there done that and you end up rethreading or replacing the axle.
+Jose Velasco Thanks for the tip!
Thanks with detail size wrench or sockets
1:14 checkout that brake hose
That's when I stopped the video I thought it would be a lot of comments..
Thank you for the video. The slotted / drilled rotor is facing the wrong way at 32:48, it should be on the driver side.
I will put money that this woman is three times of a better mechanic than most of the guys in this comment section talking trash about her
Best how to do video ever, including all torque specs. Thank you.
Just leave the axle nut on the end when you hit it with the hammer.
+Mr. Carter Thanks for the feedback!
Did you damage the threads on that axle when you were hitting the end of it?
Great video thanks alot!
+V S Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
Torque Spec for Axle Nut: 217 ft-lbs / 294 Nm
Why does the tin shield for the wss keep falling off even thoe it is installed like in the video on my Camry? Its damaged a sensor already and let the tone wheel grind it down
what's the torque spec for the axle nut ?!
At 9:55 how do I find the tin shield before the wheel bearing? Like what would it be labeled as in stores or online
She makes it look so easy good job 👍🏼 how can you not like this job 😊😊😊😊
09:10 NUT ON CV JOINT SHOULD NOT BE FULLY REMOVED TO REMAIN PROPER THREAD FUNCTIONALITY AFTER KICKING.......19:50 INNER SECURITY RING IS DAMAGED BY PRESS.......23:47 BALL JOINT TIGHTENING WRONG PROCEDURE........ 27:53 DIRECT HAMMER KICK ON CV JOINT EFFECT............
How to give your car more damage than ever before. Enjoy the show.
When you can’t do it
So I shouldn't follow what she does?
@@patrickcenkush519 she dented some things and it’s certainly not how I would go about it .. and I don’t do videos on RUclips.. I just work on vehicles.

Tanks you are amazing, great job.
I love your work
At about 13:02, how is the knuckle being supported in the press? And what size are the those aluminum (?) blocks? Do you know where to buy those? Thanks for the video

Will you please share the video where you show how to get the bearing ring off the hub? I can't find it. Thanks in advance!
Do you guys sell the whole assembly cause I don’t wanna deal with taking those bearings out
amazing mom 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
hey question would a 6 ton press do the bearing pull?? thanks
+Jay Jay Some applications a 6 ton will be sufficient however other may need up to 12 ton to do the job properly.
Thank you !
9:05 Did u just hammer the axle without the nut good way to ruined the thread?
Next time leave the old axle nut on so you don't damage the threads. Rest of the video was great
Could you please help i would like to know for a 2014 Toyota Camry what is the spline count 26 or 30?
+m s Thanks for watching! We do not have those specifications available.
Hi, nice video quick question. Changing front wheel bearings, you think it will cause steering wheel get out of straight? They just put one wheel bearings on my 05 Camry in big O Tires today. When I pick it up my steering wheel is down to the left if I straight it up car will go to the right. Can you let me know pls thanks. Before the work there's an order to check for an allingement. I don't think they checked the allingement..When pick it up car they said no need an allingement. I return the car. They said they don't touch the tie rod only remove and put it back which is correct I know that but, if they didn't touch tie rod why my steering wheel not straight? thanks for your feedback🙂
+Okay-Ba-Okay We wouldn't be able to diagnose an issue like that here, you may want to have a local mechanic take a look at it. Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I like the video keep up the good work
Did somebody saw the brake line hanging?
Great video, with the correct tools, you can do all!
0:47 bonks
1:09 I see this one has separator springs unlike what I did the other day
13:15 many tower
Is it a 30mm axle nut or 32? In the video, she says 30mm but the tool list says 32mm.
What was wrong with the original lower ball joint?
Lot of guys don't put the vehicle in park or support the axle from rotating to protect the tranny before torqueing the axle nut, pros included, good job
+vmunoz90 Thanks for checking us out. 1aauto.com
18:42 . did u bend the bearing and kept on using it?
You are much standard more than usual.
Great work. But There’s no secret spooky magnets in those bearings. The abs wheel speed is read from the speed sensor rotor on the end of the axle
Thanks for the informative video ........it helped tremendously deciding if wanted to do the job myself!
+Randy Lindsey Thank you for your feedback! We are happy we could help.
Did she re-attach the sway bar?
I want you to come and fix my wheel bearings
Does anyone know if this is the same as a Lexus 2005 ES330 front wheel bearing?
+Lars Bambi The part in this video fits your application, and the install should be the same or similar. 1aauto.com
Thank you! Your videos are excellent, and 1A Auto has become my go-to for ordering parts.
Why don’t Japanese cars use hubs? This could be so much easier
Also do they sell that whole piece with the bearing already pressed in?
+Lars Bambi Yes, we can check if we have it. What is the year/make/model?
@@1AAuto for a 2006 camry 2.4 liter 4 cyl
Cool but who has a hydraulic bearing press just laying around?
+mercedesbenzformula1 Thanks for checking us out!
I'll loan you one of mine. I have a closet FULL of 'em!
I've done this with a heavy hammer using essentially the same setup as the hydraulic press. As long as you're applying forces the same way as the press, it doesn't matter if it's impact or steady pressure that's making things move.

She said she's doing it without air tools then proceeds to hammer on the axle nut with an air wrench and the struts too
Always use the box end of a wrench if at all possible.
mentioned 30mm 12 point socket for the axle nut but listed 32mm 12 point.
its a 30, I just did mine
Lets make this diy friendly as possible with hand tools and proceeds to use a commercial press tool 12:05.
Sway bar links doesn't need to be removed
+Rafa Thanks for the tip!
How much does this cost to get fixed?
Why is she not wearing safety goggles? Why doesn't she use WD40 on those rusted bolts that she's removing and planning to reuse?
300$ for a pair of assemblies from A1 and eliminate the pressing on the car. Keep the old hubs and replace the bearings and they will be ready for the next swap out 😎🤘👍
How much is good price to have my wheel bearing change? I have a new bearing and hub.
I say 180
Eh only thing I can say you said not everyone had air tools. Alot of ppl don't have a press
It’s easier just to undo the three bolts that attach the ball joint to the control arm and make yourself A LOT more room.
It's a little easier to do the ball joint while the knuckle is off.
Step one... destroy EVERYTHING because you’re replacing it😃👍🏼
if a woman can do it, I can do it. Haha JK very good job! Thanks for the amazing video mam, I did not want to take my 05 camry in to do this as labor was gonna make it much more expensive and I figured if I can do something as difficult as a timing belt or water pump im sure I can tackle this
bought the whole complete assembly so pressing out bearing is not needed
How much was it and was it a Toyota part?
I just wanna replace my spindle hub DAMN
+Ramell Lopez Thanks for the feedback!
Your my Hero.... Professional to a tee.
Um lug nuts are 21mm
How do I know if my wheel bearing is bad. Anybody?
Play in steering, wearing tires, and often the bearing will start to grumble when it's real bad.
Why would you take the lower ball joint off? Just unbolt it.
She said they were replacing it
Not hanging the caliper...
Does it matter which side my wheel bearing is facing?
