Hello everyone, and thank you for joining us once again on our platform. Today, we delve into the intricate behaviors of Narcissists, particularly focusing on how they respond to unmet expectations, especially within the framework of personal relationships. Narcissists are individuals who exhibit a heightened sense of self-importance and a deep need for excessive attention and admiration. However, beneath this facade, they are extremely sensitive to criticisms and setbacks, especially when their high expectations are not fulfilled.
Narcissists often enter into relationships with a very specific agenda. They are not inclined to form genuine, close connections with others unless they firmly believe that they can establish a dominant role over the other individual. This dominance is crucial for a Narcissist as it enables them to control and manipulate the relationship to their benefit. Their ultimate goal is to ensure that their partner becomes so reliant on them that the thought of leaving or standing up to the Narcissist seems impossible.
To achieve this, Narcissists embark on a calculated journey to identify a suitable partner. They invest time in understanding the person’s vulnerabilities, including any past traumas and secret aspirations. This knowledge allows the Narcissist to craft a persona and a set of behaviors that seem perfectly designed to meet the needs and heal the wounds of their partner, making them indispensable. However, this is a facade. The Narcissist's actions are aimed at creating dependency and simultaneously devaluing the partner to the point where their self-worth is so diminished that they feel incapable of surviving without the Narcissist or finding someone who would treat them better.
