- Опубликовано: 7 авг 2024
- Are you annoyed by Outlook opening links in Edge, even if you have set a different default browser? In this video, I will show you how to fix this issue and make Outlook respect your browser preferences.
This is a simple and quick solution that does not require any third-party software or complicated registry edits. Just follow these steps and enjoy browsing with your favorite browser.
We show you how to set Microsoft Outlook to open links in Chrome or Firefox or any other browser you like.
microsoft edge, office 365, windows 10, outlook links, default browser, set default browser for outlook, set default browser for outlook links, microsoft edge chromium, outlook opens edge, outlook opens edge by default, outlook links not opening in chrome, outlook links default browser, outlook links opening in wrong browser,
Thank you! Very sneaky way of Microsoft not to respect our preferences.
Thank you sooooo much. This issue has been driving me crazy as I set default but did'nt know about Outlook settings for opening link in email as well. You Rock!
I never use Edge for anything so it was a little annoying every time I clicked a link in my Outlook. I figured out to right click and copy the link, but I was so happy when I found your video. I am ecstatic that my preferred browser opens now automatically now instead taking the roundabout way. THANK YOU😊
As of 09/25/23 this WORKS! Bravo FINALLY something that works i had the idea it would be in OUTLOOK settings but had no idea where to find it, Good job!
Dude, how would I have ever known without your assistance.....
Thanks a lot, I was stuck on the default browser and protocols and hadn't thought to look in outlook
Thanks that edge link opening has been annoying me for ages!! glad to finally solve that issue!
I been looking for this for weeks and thought I would t be able to fix it thanks for this it’s been frustrating trying to find out how to fix this
you deserve a nobel peace prize for this!
thank you sooo much!! I have watched 6 videos to figure this out and you are the only one that had the answer.
Big thanks for this fix! My outlook shows "file and browser preferences" rather than "link handling" but the options underneath were the same. Thanks again for helping me learn how to fix this annoyance!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much. 😊😊 Finally found someone that knows what they are talking about, so grateful to you.
This was super helpful! Thank you!
Perfect fix! I couldn't find it. Thank you!!
Great fix, I could not find the solution without your helpful video.
Thanks man! Super helpful
Since this video uploaded no longer have the option to choose which browser - the drop down box has been totally eliminated in Office 365
Thank you! you fixed my problem!
Thanks! Suddenly all links started to open in edge even though I have used chrome for years
Awesome video, and thanks for the update!
omg THIS JUST FIXED MY ISSUES. THANK YOU😇
Thanks a lot. this really helped!!!!
Fantastic video 👏Really appreciate your help in sorting out this problem for me .....saved me hours to figure it out or not..thanks!
Bruh thank you so much for this - only youtube account that helped - well done!
Thank you so much !!
Thank you, this helped a lot. I was very annoyed.
Thank you so much! This has been making me crazy and your video was great!
Glad it helped!
I am using Outlook 365 for the web. How do I open the link in this application. The link I am trying to open is an internal link to my company.
you are a gem.. big thanks, man..
Thank you!!! it was so annoying!!!
Thanks for the solution to this. It was driving me nuts because I kept verifying that my default browser in Settings was set to chrome but all off a sudden Edge started opening when I clicked links in emails. That is very deceptive of Microsoft.
Thank you Brother it helps
Thank you very much!
So I apparently have the new and revised option of "file and browser preferences" which is a dead link, going nowhere, containing nothing. So "open in browser option of Outlook says "Internet Explorer mode was used to launch a document in this tab" and it seems not compatible with some web sites. MS seems to get wrapped around the axle rather easily lately. Are they dumping IE or not?
Thank you so much sir it worked and it is from a computer technician
Thank you!
Thanks super helpful. Mine was in a different section, but the same general location. Still...I had to get annoyed, search for the answer, and watch a video to figure it out.... not cool Microsoft...not cool :P
Thanks dude!!
Amazing!!!! I own a software company and could not figure this out!! Thanks Bro!!
Thank you!!!
thank you so much
Thank you for your help! I appreciate it. However, I do not appreciate pushy sales tactics in regards to the product. While both browsers are good, I prefer not to be pressured into choosing one.
Thanks!
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Thank you - that was so annoying!
what outlook app is he using, it doesnt look like mine
Thanks a million, it was really annoying
Thanks so much. MS should be ashamed of this one
THANK YOU! I was about to try deleting Edge.
Thank You! Nice quick fix for Microsoft's penchant for jerking us around with at least one of their products.
Thank you :)
WORKS!!! - Thanks. Microsoft is deceptively sneaky during updates.
So helpful
Just a heads up! As of 9/14 they removed the option to change the default browser in "Link Sharing" so you're basically stuck using Edge.
well that's cheeky!
I have a heading that says File and Browser Preferences and then there is just nothing under it. Blank. What a bunch of assholes. Edge is terrible. I wouldn't mind using it if it worked properly but when I open it from outlook I just get a bunch of text at the top.
Thanks for clarifying. I was going crazy trying to find it. That is really annoying!
well done!
Thank you. This problem had me seriously raging.
I'm stuck because I do not see any of the options you mention in my Advanced section. Any ideas? Thanks!
Thank yoiu.
As of 10/09/2023- this is working and there is no 'obnoxious' pop ups for the Edge browser, it just goes straight into Chrome.
thanks
There's no section called "file and browser preferences" under Options>Advanced. There's "autoarchive" as seen in your video, then "link handling" (no option to make changes), then "reminders", as seen in your video
When I change to Default and click okay to save i get a message that says the end date tou entered occurs before the start date - anyone else had that and any idea how to get around it?
Thanks, this was driving me mad
is there a GPO or registry fix for this?
I have followed the instructions but I then get an error message which says "the end date you entered occurs before the start date" with a warning triangle. I did not change any dates. it is really frustrating!
18/02/2024: It's still working. Thank you so much. I hate edge!!!!
Thanks for the solutions. Super annoying game Microsoft plays!!
Don't see that option either from Outlook 2016 Pro Plus.
Don't have outlook and still doing it. How do I do it if I don't have outlook.
That option no longer exists in MS Outlook 2021, there will be another one for that version
thanks. i was soooo sick of this forced feature
Agreed - soooo annoying
in Office 2019 there is no way to change it... :-(
Outlook 2019 has no Link Handling
Worst thing is that they make it super difficult to have certain virus protection linked to new Edge. McAfee etc. Sure this is causing problems globally and just providing opportunities for Hackers. Would love Google to properly release an operating system so that we can all move away
Changed again - it must be a setting... somewhere
Thank you so much! Microsoft is so annoying, always trying to make us use their shitty browser.
oh thank god.... No more Edge...
Looks like Edge acts like a virus.
Thank you!
Thank you. I smell a class action suit against Microsoft. I never agreed to the terms and conditions, yet here I am being forced to use Microsoft Edge.
