COMPEL 2020: Inductance Dual Model and Control of Multiphase Buck Converter

Abstract: Coupled inductors are a key component for building multiphase converters with smaller size and better performance. This talk covers several coupled inductor models, with emphasis on the multiwinding transformer models and inductance dual model. The multiwinding transformer models are suitable for control design and the inductance dual model is suitable for physical core design. The control equations for a multiphase coupled inductor buck converter are derived. A programmable coupled inductor with an adjustable bandwidth is designed using this framework.
