It’s a lot of work, but you’ll only be able to sell something like this a couple of times in your life. Musicians achieve this sound with a tone knob, a properly selected capacitor, and a fretless J bass.

A person who wants a natural double bass sound will most likely prefer to have a double bass. And for a session musician, the versatility of the instrument is important.
Yes, it is. I too think people who want contrabass will use contrabass.
So I am currently struggling with this.
I've been told by professionals that it's a good combination of a double bass and a fretless bass.
Since what I was aiming for was a contrabass
I am happy, but I also want to be more like a contrabass.
However, I don't think it's enough just to produce a double bass sound. I also feel that I need to create an instrument that can produce my own original bass sound that is similar to the double bass.
It is a painful and enjoyable task.
