This is Burj al Babas, a ghost town of abandoned Disney castles in Turkey. A $200 Million dollar Village falling to pieces. It's a development project gone wrong.
Starting in the 2014, the ideas was to build 732 Renaissance Style Villas to appeal to rich investors in the Middle East. Originally 350 of the 587 kitsch villas were bought in the first phase. At 500,000 Dollars each (400,000 Euro), these investors were buying into a fantasy life, a Disney Land perfect paradise. Each home with a jacuzzi on each floor, an elevator, and a thermal spa. The complex housing 3 lakes, a shopping mall, mosque, pool, and golf course. The first tenants were expected summer 2020. It sounded too good to be true...
It was. Enter the Turkish real estate crisis. Enter the Cheesiness of it all.
The company went bankrupt. The place fell to ruin.
And now we're here to explore. The very first group to get inside in years.

Sweet. Thanks Brother!

Thanks for the map!!! Am checking it NOW!!!🙂🙃🐉
Why are you whispering ?
A million years later when archeologists undig these, they'll think they "discover an ancient village abandoned w/ no trace of existence! Were they all murdered? What caused this village to disappear?"
It's mostly fallen apart after 5-6 years.
With David Attenborough's voice...LOL
It will not last 200 years. The cheap materials will be broken apart and down by the elements. The steel members will have rusted away. Only the plastic may remain.
1 million years are you kidding these things will be disintegrated within 100 years
This could change history. Imagine the pyramids actually being abandoned condominiums that never sold. We honestly have no idea so its possible lol
They should use this property to house refugees and homeless people.
Agree
Who is going to pay to finish the homes to let people live there for free? Certainly not the government. Good idea in theory but not practical.
@@ellenamontana1352 not our problem, let the homeless at least come up with that, are they helpless?
I was thinking the same thing
@@clinthowe7629 uh they are probably homeless because they don’t have the resources to provide for themselves. So it is still impractical.

That's what I thought 😄
I can't believe someone one day woke up and thought this was a good idea
And how did that idiot have (make) enough money to almost create this surrealisticly bad idea?
Lol yes!!!!! And spend usd 200million in this crap!
I mean I think it could've been great idea. I can think of a million people that would pay top dollar to live or even just vacation in mini personally sized disney castles for their next trip to europe or to rent for living. I just think they're weirdly isolated from everything, and obviously are clearly not very well constructed for some reason...maybe if the location was better and had more places of interest around it, and most of all, if they were vacation rentals rather than purchasable properties, they mightve been more successful (assuming the company had the money to make it the best it could be). They'd be fun to stay in temporarily!
🤣
@@adaharrisonn Agreed. It’d be fulfilling the fantasy of staying in that exclusive secret castle room at Disney.

Tragic.🤣
If these were fully constructed , i think this would be an amazing village knowing that each units are all castles.. that was so cool.
I'm probably the only one that doesn't find this to be corny or creepy at all! It may be because I live in Florida and I'm use to seeing huge gated communities with the same exact houses with the same colors and same flowers and it sells here! I don't really care how many other's around me has a castle... if I had a castle I'd have a castle, doesn't make it any less exciting to me at all! I would plant so many different species flowers and paint the outside and inside so nicely it's just about making it your own with any house really but that's just me I guess!
i like that perspective
I am European and I find the city repulsive because it is a prime example of toxic consumerism and classist megalomania.
If they can finish it, I will live there. It seems like it is one of the peaceful places on the map ijs
I don't know Tho but this is quite creepy to me
Those some wise words

Hard to built ugly castles without losing a few trees I guess. It’d be weird to have to live there, kind of a fake castle prison community maybe?
Nah just made out of recycled packing peanuts
All the mountains destroyed for the cement...
@@jessicagomez1760 God gave man trees to use. God will grow more trees.
Why tf did they build all of them at once.?! A smart idea would have been to build a street of them like maybe 6, see if people actually bought into the concept, and go from there.
Normally you would build one, then market the shit out of the idea and get people to pre purchase plots. It's also weird they are all so close together. Not for normal house standards but as they look like mini mansions you'd expect a decent space around each one. They are constructed the way theme park building facades are, all pretend using plastics and resins instead of stone.

Imagine if you bought one and you friends asked directions “yeah, so go up the hill and you’ll see a castle.....”

As I watched the video, I got a feeling of deep, deep sadness. The apparent waste of money, desires of people to always want more luxury, the bizarre and cheap construction that no one in their right mind would buy. Within two years it is crumbling into dust, with synthetic materials cracking and rusting, as it should. Humanity can do better.

@Demi Lee it depends on your definition of beauty...In my opinion beauty is not just skin deep. Beauty is reflected in your character. It would be vulgar to call someone "ugly" if only basing it on their looks. The truly "ugly" people in this world are the ones that are slothful, arrogent, cruel, judgemental, manipulative, and abusive - to name a few.

@@catarinah.f.rezende5631 Good point - I have no idea what there is to do in Turkey. If Turkey is that boring, I guess it would only work if enough Turkish people would make a commitment to creating new tourist attractions, so they would have to invest a bunch of money in museums, restaurants, theaters, theme parks, etc. If you couldn’t get enough tourists, then I guess another option would be for a whole bunch of Turkish people to agree to come together and all chip in, to fix the castles and turn it into a nice residential area, maybe for elderly people, like a nursing home? And maybe an orphanage and a school? No matter what, you’d need to get enough investors to commit to the project.

Yeah this place makes no sense, no room for front or back yards so it's not made for families but the houses are way too big for a retirement village. Who could live there? They could be rented to tourists at best.
@@rukisghost They were clearly targeted at rich dreamers. But who wants a castle in amongst 749 other castles? Makes no sense.
Places like this make me sad. All the homeless people out there that would give anything to be able to move in to. It's better than nothing, I mean if you own it and it's not selling then for sure do something to help people.
Exactly what I’m thinking 🤔 it’s just sad
Yeah. Minus 10C and no heating or food. A begar’s dream.
Just about to say the same thing
@@marcusTanthony Food and heaters can be added.
You can't help people these days without assuming some sort of liability. Even letting people stay there for free would cost the owner additional fees. If poor people want a place to live they can get this cool thing called a job 😂
Chesse cheap design, but absolutely brilliant that you went there too show the world as who would had known, great utube channel thankyou.
I think the idea is promising. If some are homes, some are businesses. Offices, coffee shops, a bed and breakfast, dance studio, anything really. Then each owner customize thier own with different color paint and add their own details, it would be a like small City/Town of different Castles 😍 it looks just like any other neighborhood with the same 5 floor designs.
WTF!! İ AM FROM TURKEY AND İ NEVER KNEW A PLACE LİKE THİS EXİST!!
It would be easy to make changes to them to create 5 or 6 different designs . If they did that, they could actually turn it into a whole town. Add a variety of colors, trees, plants , ingenuity and it could be quite stunning.
The @turkish government should really look into it and settle those poor refugees who fled wars , from Syria , Palestine , Lebia , Ukraine ,Iraq and those refugees should settle their and I’m sure will be a great community to develop their . And have their kids go to school their and build hospital for them as well since all these castles are build , would not be a bad idea to settle them refugees. #turkish government #media
@@BuzzVibeCentral yep
Place looks cool af. Would be awesome for a legit village like this with quality built castles that you could actually live in
I just watched it on tv, and saw your RUclips 👍🏻
I feel like this is an illusion for what ever they build under ground. Makes you think it’s abandoned but really it’s not.
Conspiracies. Lol wouldn't they have better security instead of none?
Silly idea. If you wanted to hide a secret underground you would just have nothing above lol. Just natural landscape haha. With the exit something like a power grid building.
I live in Turkey and I forgot about this wow. It was a really big topic when it started because many people who live there didn't want foreign investors buying lands and corrupting the nature of the city.
And now what? These little beautiful castles are going to stay like that forever? It's a shame.
Some architect or engineer has new ideas or purpose for this place?
I'm just curious 🤗
@@spicycelery8 As I saw in the news company went bankrupt but they are still trying to gather money and continue building castles. They gave time until 2021 so we will see what happens next.
@@idilzeybek2903 Why do they even think someone would like to live in this place. I mean if you have that much money, I guess people would like to have a more individual house, right?
@@Laura-gd4ku I agree with you. I wouldn't buy them even if I had millions of dollars.
@@Laura-gd4ku I would like to live there
absolute madness
For some strange reason, I find this incredibly sad even though I would never want to live there. I hope they pull it off somehow!
When trying to hide from security, always wear orange.
😂
Yes, they'll think you're a construction worker😋
lmao
Or bright lime green
And don't run, because you could get shot, especially if you have a darker skin. Better to stop and explain yourself.
I feel so bad for all the trees they had to cut down in order to build this ridiculous place!
I know right
I wondered about the same thing and they actually didn't cut any trees at all. Those were just fields.
Yeah almost as ridiculous as you're comment. Weirdo
@@alper_c they definitely used lumber on these. Just not as much as you'd typically use. Mostly cheap materials like stucco.
is like your ancestor did
Seems like a great movie set.
Don't let it go to waste.
