- Alan Kay provides useful tips of what to stock your fundamental bag with for critical situations. He informs us on how to bug out, what's in his bug out bag, creating a bug out plan, and he lays out everything that he's put into his bag so that you can see his full bug out bag setup. It's very important to have a family bug out plan. This includes sanitary and hygiene items for the women and girls. I recommend that women get a menstrual cup or several for their bag. Let's say SHTF, there's a zombie apocalypse, , doomsday, end of civilization, civil unrest and or there's a serious crisis then you're going to eventually run out of tampons or pads. If you don't like the idea of a menstrual cup then you might need to get several boxes of tampons/pads for your bag which will consume a lot of space. The upside of tampons is that they have multiple uses from using the cotton to light fires making it a great fire tinder, using it as a medical bandage and using it for cordage.
Alan is the winner of the first season of Alone History Channel and a man of international intrigue. He wrote a book with Chris Weatherman, author of many Post Apocalyptic books.
You can watch full episodes of History's Channel Alone on the History channel, Netflix and Amazon. Make sure to watch the first season.

Alan Kay is the Chuck Norris of survival, he's the wind beneath my wings
"I went camping in Canada once and it rained like everyday there." What a boss! 😂😂
Great little series! Well done to Alan for doing these. Got caught in a snowpocalypse here, completely random. Emergency kit meant I could bug in. As Alan says, it's all great til it's not.
I did not expect someone like Mr. Kay to endorse my all time favorite working axe brand! Mind you, I have plenty of classic "bragging rights" axes that I absolutely love! The Fiskars, however, is the best bang for the buck in the axe industry!
This little series is so great! Thank you for taking the time to share this video.
Thanks for sharing! Always good to see my friends doing what they do best !!
Great series 👍
Great series
11:00 "I went camping in Canada once for a few months and it rained every day there." - Alan Kay
That's an understatement of what you went through but I love the humor 😂😂😂🍻
Alan and Jason are a great opposite compliment duo team. They both have reasons for what they do. Both extreme. I love this channel.
I am more like Alan. I like having it. I'm not inviting misery. I just prepare for it. I have no plans on NOT having fun out there. I want warm and cozy. I want light.
And how many people did Jason have to kill on his mission? I'll keep it secret. Shhh...
Thank you.
You’re welcome
Good stuff!
What is your consensus on carrying a wool blanket + sleeping bag or woobie?(just a blanket in summer).
Its a sleep blanket, a cloak, a sun shelter with corners tied off, a fire protection shield, retains 80% of insulation when wet and even if wet can be ‘quickly’ dried out close to a fire, sleep up close to a fire without igniting, you could even bundle all your things into it and tie it off as a durable backpack…seems perfect on paper but neither you nor Josh Enyart seem to use one in a bugout bag and only seem to like them in a vehicle or some other kind of ‘conveyance’, so must be good reasons not to carry as primary shelter item?
Do you guys find that the qualities of a wool blanket aren’t worth the bulk and weight?
Thanks
Could never get used to those pace beads. My mind wanders too much as I’m in possum mode the whole time I am in the woods. Then I lose count and have no friggin idea how far I’ve gone. 😂
Also...where can one find that “shelter sheet”? It looks light...
m1cajah I know exactly what you mean. Thanks for watching!
