  • Season: Strawberries can be harvested in late-June until mid July. Raspberries being in early July, and blueberries begin to ripen mid-July.
Details: This is one where you’ll need to bring your own container to carry your haul home with you. Take a wagon ride to and from the field.
    BERRY-PICKING TIPS
Call first: Some farms have inconsistent opening hours, depending on the crops available or other factors like the weather. Make sure you and the family or friends aren’t trekking out to the middle of nowhere for nothing.
Dress for the rough: Berry picking can be a messy business. You may be sitting or kneeling down in a berry patch, handling juicy fruits that are easily squashed. So leave the cool duds at home and throw on some old jeans and a T-shirt you don't mind covered in berry stains.
Bring your own baskets or containers: Most farms don’t supply baskets. If you don’t have any, some farms sell them.
Be gentle: Pull strawberries off the bush by twisting the stem, not by pulling the fruit itself, and then let it roll into your palm. Raspberries should also be tugged off gently; if they’re ripe, they’ll come off easily. Repeat with a few more berries for each hand and place them gently into your container. Don’t overfill your containers or pack the berries down, unless you like them squashed.
