I'm not a brit, I'm not trying to go to camp america, I didn't even know about it before this video, but I'm with you on the point of view of watching people's behaviours and culture, no matter how little difference there might be. I also really like watching you talk about things you're passionate about :) xx
This has helped ALOT. Haven't had my interview yet but you have answered most things I wanted to know, and I now feel calm and less nervous thinking about it. Thank you for doing this video, it was great. x
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm an American but I live on the West Coast and I'm going to work at a camp on the East Coast so I find very helpful.
HighAndHappyHoppy I needed about £1000 on top of my camp earnings to travel for 3 weeks afterwards (but that included flights to Florida and shopping!)
I love this channel! I've applied for Camp America 2015 to kick off my travels, and i found your channel! It's so inspiring seeing where you have been, and thinking about the adventures i'll hopefully be having over the next couple of years! I also want to vlog my experiences too! Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated!
Jack Southern Yay! You'll have the best time!! With regards to the vlogging, great idea! It's such a fun way to document your trip! My tips for vlogging would just be to film as much as you can but then cut the crap in editing. Only post stuff you are proud of and could watch over and over again yourself :)
Hi, This may be a bit of a silly question but I've basically been watching Beaver Falls all day and now I'm wondering if it is at all similar? obviously without the drink etc haha
Awesome video! What did your friends think of the horse riding camp? I've just got my application to the "ready to hire" stage and I've been watching lots of camp experience videos but none of them seem to be with horses lol!
looking to do camp america next year but wanted to do something with horses and you mentioned thats what your friends did, just wondering do they have any videos or anything regarding their experience and how it was different?
See, the Visa payment put me off because its around £70 more than you actually need to pay for it! I ended up going with Bunac but I really hope I get accepted :)
Emilia Samek I did! There should always be an option to either sort your own flights or have them sorted for you (obvs the latter being more expensive). I'd have a look at the difference in price and see what works out cheaper for you :)
Hey! I am working at a camp in the US this summer and I really want to travel for longer than the 30 days grace period. I was wondering how you managed to travel for longer?
Thanks for this video, it was really helpful!!! I'm just wondering how much money you needed altogether for travels afterwards and days off during camp time? x
Hey!, i was just wondering since me and a friend are both going through CCUSA together what are the chances we would be put in the same camp?, thanks :)
Brilliant and informative video! One question though which I'm not sure you'll be able to answer. I'm guessing you are or were a student/gap year when you did this? Would you say the application is a much bigger pain in the arse to do if you're not a student? I'm 21 and got decent A-Levels but am not doing university, which makes me a free-loading bum in the eyes of the American Government!
Hi, I got a qualification in Horticulture SVQ 1 at college and currently doing a sports course at the minute (Full Time). My question is this, I really like the sound of Camp America and like the sound of being a gardener there through the skills that I have gained so far, tho am a full time student at college but does that only apply to full time students from Universities?
Adore this babe!! Can you do Camp America at any point in life? You don't have to be in Uni or anything ahahhaha!! Perfecto! Might do it when I stop travelling as a mini break
Sam Bella Yeh you can do it whenever, most people are 18-25 but it really doesn't matter! Deffo should do it if you get the chance, but it definitely wouldn't be a mini break haha x
In terms of the payments, once you have paid does that secure you a place? Just can't work out if the payment comes before or after you have secured a place, great vid, thank you!
Harry Cohn You pay before you are placed! It doesn't secure you a place but I think it's almost guarenteed you will placed at least somewhere! (I'm also assuming they must have some sort of payback system for those who may not get placed...)
+Charlotte Vigneron You can choose an option where you pay for your own flights or where the flights are included, but that option is significantly more expensive so essentially yes, you do have to pay for your own flights!
Hi, i've applied for suport staff next summer. You've made it sound very boring in comparison to camp leader. It's like as if you are like there but not part of the fun and action :( please say this is incorrect.
hey! I want to do something similar when i turn 18 - travel around the world and then work at a summer camp but i have a question.. Did you backpack and if you did how did you manage to fit everything you needed for camp plus all your travelling stuff in? Also, did you wait till you had your interview before you started travelling because i wanted to start travelling the august after my a levels but i dont know if that would be possible? Thankyou!
Hi! :) I know this is a comment on a video that was made like a year ago... but, even though you travelled after camp, did you still get an exact date as to when you would finish? If that makes sense? I'm applying for next years summer and I probably won't travel afterwards because I'd rather travel the states with my family :) so would they give me an exact date as to when I finish so I can book return flights??? :)
Hey! Is is guaranteed that you will get a position once you've applied? I'm just thinking in terms of paying all those application fees and potentially not getting picked! :D
If you're planning to do it with a friend and want to be placed at the same camp since we would be flying out all the way from Australia, would accept it ? Or do we just get placed in different camps all over? Sorry if this doesn't make any sense ..
Stratfordsrauhl It does make sense! It is not the easiest of tasks to get placed at the same camp as a friend because understandably everyones applications are sent aroundall the camps individually. Your best bet is to both attend one of the recruitment fairs that the agencies organise and both interview for the same camp!
great video. I'm thinking to put an application thru CCUSA as I heard its great fun. But I'm not at uni nor do I have loadsa experience working with kids.. would I be ok hun
john terry You definitely don't have to be at uni so you're fine for that! Experience with kids is an advantage but not essential, as long as you are strong in other areas like being advanced in a particular activity that you'd be comfortable coaching others. If you have younger siblings/cousins who you've spent time with, it's worth mentioning that though!
I'm currently in the process of applying through CCUSA for this summer.. however I'm a bit stumped when it comes to 'skills' I don't have any coaching experience in ANYTHING... scuba diving is an option (which seems random) which I do a lot of however don't have the required qualification to teach only to dive myself. I also loved netball at school but again don't have any qualifications.. do you have any advice for this? X
I reckon if you could feel confident teaching a sport (netball sounds like a good one!), even if you haven't actually had any physical experience, you could probably blag it ;) I would have a look a lesson structures on RUclips and Google, there are some great resources on the internet!
Did you book your flight home in advance?? I'm going this summer and it would be sooo much cheaper to buy a return flight, or a multi city, but I don't know where I'll be by the end so no idea how I can do it?? Help!
+Esme T Hey Esme! Thought I'd reply to you on the relevant video haha. I did have a flight back to the UK for a fixed date. I just made a guess really that I'd travel for 3 weeks.
Did you include any child experience you had? If so, what? As I'm thinking of applying either next summer or the one after and want to gain more experience.
RS x The answer to your question varies massively depending on who your agency is, when you book, where and how long you travel for... And flight inclusion is optional also - so unfortunately it is very difficult to answer your question! Everyones spending is so different!
hey, i’m thinking of doing this next year but i was wondering if my references can be old teachers as shockingly i have never had a job before and wont have had one until then? maybe you have the answer ☺️
Backpacking Bananas i have done so much babysitting but then the parents became friends so i don’t know if that would work but thank you so much for replying! :)
RS x It massively varies, I got everything done over the course of a few months, just gradually filling in documents and information and sending off this that and the other. But you could probably do the whole online process in a day if you really wanted. There are certain dates though with interviews, fairs, visa appointments, etc. that occur randomly from December-April!
Camp videos make me SO happy!! I have a whole series on my channel about working at camp, and cannot stop watching other people's too.
I'm not a brit, I'm not trying to go to camp america, I didn't even know about it before this video, but I'm with you on the point of view of watching people's behaviours and culture, no matter how little difference there might be. I also really like watching you talk about things you're passionate about :)
xx
enigmath It's fascinating right! :) :) x
This has helped ALOT. Haven't had my interview yet but you have answered most things I wanted to know, and I now feel calm and less nervous thinking about it. Thank you for doing this video, it was great. x
+Kat Conway So glad it was useful :) x
Thank you so much for making this video. I'm an American but I live on the West Coast and I'm going to work at a camp on the East Coast so I find very helpful.
Thanks for doing this video, literally covered everything! good job!
HighAndHappyHoppy My pleasure :) :)
Just one question, how much money did you take with you? I was wondering about the expenses of travelling afterwards
HighAndHappyHoppy I needed about £1000 on top of my camp earnings to travel for 3 weeks afterwards (but that included flights to Florida and shopping!)
Isley Nagel Thanks Isley! Yes I do, link is in the description :)
Heading off to camp in just under a month, ahh! This definitely answered an awful lot of the questions I had, thankyou! ☺️
Ailidh Mather Pleasure! You'll have an amazing time!!
I love this channel! I've applied for Camp America 2015 to kick off my travels, and i found your channel! Backpacking Bananas Thank you! =]
Great video, I'm thinking of applying this year once I've gathered enough info.
Thanks for this, I have a place at camp next summer and this is very helpful!
i loved this thank you im actually going to my interview tomorrow
What a great video!
Hi, This may be a bit of a silly question but I've basically been watching Beaver Falls all day and now I'm wondering if it is at all similar? obviously without the drink etc haha
I'm hoping to do one next summer after my one year working holiday in Canada. At least I have an idea how it works. Thank you
thanks so much for this video, I am going to do camp next year and your video was very informative :)!! thanks again.
Sean Millar Pleasure :)
Loved the video! Did you have your applications process and fees completed when you went to the recruitment fair?
I Enjoyed your video :) I am thinking of going to camp next year this was very interesting
Ailiee X Pleasure :)

Millie Stokes I want to know too! Did you end up doing the horse riding, how was it?! Not even sure you’ll be active 4 years later 😂🤭
great video!! so informative x
See, the Visa payment put me off because its around £70 more than you actually need to pay for it! I ended up going with Bunac but I really hope I get accepted :)
Thank you!:)
Awesome video, alot of great info. My question is did you have to pay for your flight to and from the USA?
Emilia Samek I did! There should always be an option to either sort your own flights or have them sorted for you (obvs the latter being more expensive). I'd have a look at the difference in price and see what works out cheaper for you :)
Hey! I am working at a camp in the US this summer and I really want to travel for longer than the 30 days grace period. I was wondering how you managed to travel for longer?
I’d love to hear from your friends doing the horse riding. Is this possible?!
Thanks for this video, it was really helpful!!! I'm just wondering how much money you needed altogether for travels afterwards and days off during camp time? x
livyhayes For days off, I just used the money I earn at camp, then for travelling after I used the remainder of what I had learnt +£500ish I think!!
Ed Reid Nahh I didn't go to uni either! I didn't find it affect me in any way :)
Hi, I got a qualification in Horticulture SVQ 1 at college and currently doing a sports course at the minute (Full Time). Love your channel ♥ I'm going to camp this year I'm soo excited :)
Yeah my visa was about that much
I'm off to Maryland woop :D
✌ Mel ✌ Ohh amazing! You'll have the best time! :)
Adore this babe!! Can you do Camp America at any point in life? You don't have to be in Uni or anything ahahhaha!! Perfecto! Might do it when I stop travelling as a mini break

is it hard workkk?? I'll probs have to think about it in more detail then ahahahah!! Sounds like you had such a good experience though!!
Hard work for sure! But amazing indeed though!
Where you off to next?? Just seen your pics from paris and your plans for latin America!! Ohhhhhh enjoy gorgeous girl!!!
Thank you!! I'm actually off to Australia next! What about you?? xx
I was thinking of doing camp America but I don't know how it will be as an African person or how diverse it will be.
Luke J Osborne I just don't want to feel left out or anything as a person of colour there. Thanks anyway. Have you done camp?
Luke J Osborne go
In terms of the payments, once you have paid does that secure you a place? Just can't work out if the payment comes before or after you have secured a place, great vid, thank you!

Your just so funny haha And i would love to go to camp America. The only thing is do you have to pay for your flights ? Or is it included?
+Charlotte Vigneron You can choose an option where you pay for your own flights or where the flights are included, but that option is significantly more expensive so essentially yes, you do have to pay for your own flights!

How long in advance did you apply and how long was the application process?
hi, ive applied for summer camp next year for a support staff role, do you know how the support staff workers find their roles? (from england)
Hi! :) I know this is a comment on a video that was made like a year ago... but, even though you travelled after camp, did you still get an exact date as to when you would finish? I'm applying for next years summer and I probably won't travel afterwards because I'd rather travel the states with my family :) so would they give me an exact date as to when I finish so I can book return flights??? :)
Hi! Thanks for this video, is it possible for me and my boyfriend to be placed at the same camp or camps near each other? XX
It's more difficult but definitely not impossible :)
What was the age range of the councillors?
After the summer camp, can you choose where you want to go within america and is flights and accommodation included? Thanks
+Alamin Mohammed Of course you can choose where you travel to :) Flights and accommodation are not included for after camp travel.
damn girl those eyes!!!
Hey! Is is guaranteed that you will get a position once you've applied? I'm just thinking in terms of paying all those application fees and potentially not getting picked! :D
I think you will be refunded if you don't get picked but I think you're most likely to get a place if you apply
If you're planning to do it with a friend and want to be placed at the same camp since we would be flying out all the way from Australia, would accept it ? Or do we just get placed in different camps all over? Sorry if this doesn't make any sense ..

+Backpacking Bananas thank you! I'm very new to all this and keep panicking haha! Your videos have really helped though!
I've just been hired at a job camp Fair yesterday! However, I would like to change my flight option, is it not too late to ask CCUSA to change it?
Congrats! I would imagine they could change it, better ask them sooner rather than later though!
Did you include any child experience you had? If so, what? As I'm thinking of applying either next summer or the one after and want to gain more experience.
If you have experience working with children, it most certainly won't hinder your application!
When did you work at Laurel South? and did you look at camp Laurel too?
2013 :) It was actually a recruiter from camp Laurel who placed me and Laurel South! I didn't really get the option.
I really want to apply for camp america to work there, can anyone answer some questions for me please?
how much roughly did it cost, application, travel afterwards, extra costs and is flight included
RS x The answer to your question varies massively depending on who your agency is, when you book, where and how long you travel for... And flight inclusion is optional also - so unfortunately it is very difficult to answer your question! Everyones spending is so different!

Backpacking Bananas i have done so much babysitting but then the parents became friends so i don’t know if that would work but thank you so much for replying! :)
Out of interest where abouts do you live? I'm not sure which recruitment fair to go to x
+Trigedasleng I went to the one in London :)
Anyone went with Camp Sonshine? References? 😰
Did you take any pictures when you were there?
I did take lots of pics! A couple of them are lurking in the depths of my instagram feed somewhere...
I love this video! Thank you for sharing. Do you have an Instagram?
how long does the whole process take?
RS x It massively varies, I got everything done over the course of a few months, just gradually filling in documents and information and sending off this that and the other.
