they ARE the godfathers of THALL, this album and their whole sound is milesss ahead of their time, great reaction btw!! their new album october 18th is going to be 17 tracks, 80 minutes of just destruction, the two new singles are soooo good, give them a listen!

There's something about their sound that I can only describe as genuinely 'evil' sounding.. can't put my finger on it but it's strangely original. so awesome

I feel like out of all the bands influenced by Meshuggah, Vildhjarta are the only ones that are pushing the envelope and developing that sound into truly new territories. I have no idea how a human can even write their riffs, it's this insane kaleidescopic whirl of furious thudding and dissonant screeching that somehow makes perfect sense and sounds incredible.
Vildjharta > Meshuggah imo, I know its an unpopular opinon, but Meshuggahs last album just didnt hit me
@@RubenSprng why compare them when they're both brilliant? Have been a fan of Meshuggah for over 15 years and their legacy is godlike.

I think Car Bomb's also a really good band to have come from the Meshuggah influence
@@RubenSprngi agree, i have so much respect for meshuggah, they really brought this heavier style of music into existence, but Vild is my favorite band ever, seems like they are just in their own world
The Lone Deranger is underrated in my opinion. Some absolutely face melting stuff in that one.

First song I heard by them while I was alone in my room surfing the web as a teen. Was into djent and metal but this blew me away

the last riff is such a perfect way to end an album. when you think it'll slowly fade off, they hit you with one last surprise.
The way they play with the dissonance in Traces at 23:45 is for me, the textbook definition of "some can do more with 2 notes than others can with the entire fretboard."
I love how Vildhjarta seem to only be painting with shades of black in order to recreate the night itself. It's almost like your walking outside at midnight and everything is incredibly beautiful and incredibly horrifying.

To my knowledge these guys are the founders of the term 'thall'! Listen to the other material and the band Humanities last breath! Amazing style of music!
Stoort Neer, Calle's side project, is personally my favorite Vildhjarta side project. HLB is great, no doubt, but Calle has some kind of strange magic he writes riffs with.

Dude I don't know why but that song is surprisingly underrated. Was happy to see my mans say it was his favorite, especially on first listen. The instrumental part of the song is probably my favorite music of all time.

Taking stock of a bunch of the comments below mine, I only have to add that one also needs to consider the band worked on this composition for years before being comfortable enough to record and release it. Three guitarists, two vocalists, bass, and (organically-recorded) drums. I believe I remember reading from a SickDrummer (or a similar outlet) interview that it was some five or six years in development. We sit here a full decade later still astonished at the intricacies, and that is really something. Un-fucking-believable.

Though I only found out about this album this year, this completely changed the way I see music. Incredible Album, might be the best of all time in my opinion. In the top 5 for sure. Not just an Album consisting of songs. It's like listening to a movie that never gets boring. As a guitar player I can't comprehend how somebody can make an Album this perfect.
Masstaden, and Masstaden (under vatten) are indescribably good albums, and I feel like people either get it or don't
I wish I could hear this album for the first time again. Enjoyed reliving it with ya. One of the all time greats right here. So under appreciated

This album is in my top 3 favorites of anything fucking ever. It’s such a beautiful work of art. Absolute soul lifting frequencies.

Your reaction was highly relatable. I recommend checking out the older Omnislash version of Traces if you haven't already. There aren't vocals, but the mix is great. Many people consider it their best version!

Masstaden and Scyers of the Ibls from Ovid's Withering we're both master pieces that got lost in the scene back in 2012. Glad I grew up listening to them.

interesting to see your reaction, mine was pretty much the same when I first listened to måsstaden
2 years or so after discovering them, do you feel like they influenced at all how you feel about other metal bands?
I discovered this album in 2012 when i was a freshman in highschool, and ever since nothing can come close to hitting like them.

@@user-cj6te2oj4m yeah toxin, then they pitch shift it to fuck knows...of course...i like the fell silent tuning Ab F Bb Eb F Bb Eb, the Ab octave is on the 3rd fret on the F string, its fucking mad.
@@jackdanielteasdale598 There is a playthrough of toxin, and they have the pitch shift moments and how much they pitch shift. Usually 1 or 2 semitones either up or down. Also there is this thall band Indistinct who use a D# A E A D G B C tuning, the song is Hollow
