Mrs. Meyers, I suffer from moderate obsessive compulsive disorder. In times when I am feeling over whelmed by things, this is a video that allows me a few minutes of peace. I am not sure why but, the Stradivarius violin can sound so warm and wail at the same time. I can see by the emotions you express you are not only playing the piece but feeling it. The way you move back and forth it seems you aren't playing the instrument but dancing with it. I have tried to put into words what thoughts enter my mind. I don't know if I have succeeded but your performance has provided me peace with the problems I face.
It sings to our souls, Josh. You are not alone.
It’s not a stead she’s playing it’s a Guarneri
Hahahahaha...you can keep on dreaming she will read your comment, loser! :D :D :D
Well said. I have heard her play in concert one time, have many of her CDs. Her heart and soul go into her art.
Of all the songs that are played in this entire world, This is what i consider the best
THIS is why J.S. Bach composed and Stradivari crafted. Vibration, master craftsmanship, and perfection of skill, years of practice, genius in composition and a healthy dose of love to combine in an acoustic poem that celebrates all aspects of Life. No matter the emotion it brings to surface, so much has come together to create beauty. So many hands and minds that had to combine, as well as the span of time, to create one moment, note by note, a thing of purity and wonder are staggering to imagine.
Anne Meyers playing of the Air shows a reverence to the majesty of Bach's composition. The result is sublime.
The best sounding violin ever made by man. Worth every bit of the 3.6million
This violin's sound is so beautiful
The best performance of Air, I´ve ever seen. Mrs Meyers, you feel it and you make us feel it. So light, but so firm and necesary as Air is for life. Thankyou
I've been watching this for almost 100 times, and would love to hear you play this song on the G sting. I'm a huge fan of you, thanks so much for sharing.
Speechless
No words for this beauty which resonates with my very soul. Thank you.
Gorgeous sound of this Stradivarius... My heart is in the thrill... Full of colors.... Deep... like liquid honey... And powerful... Moreover great skills of violinist... The last but not the least... Air is one of the most beautiful Bach's masterpieces.

I like how their bow is in sync at the end as if they are still counting the beat in their brains
What a great performance. Every note has a start, middle and end. So clear so precise so moving. I love how you Project your emotions into the music. Simply amazing!
She is my favorite modern player. I'm always moved by her versions. Often good-crying happens. 💛

Angelic
This molitor violin does have qualities that I didn't expect. soft pitch and yet the tone and volume is very high. It has almost a human voice quality to it.
super interpretazione, brava

Tengo que aser esto en una clase
¡Como respirar! ....
Man, I complain about a katana costing about $2,000, which you wouldn't get unless you're a grandmaster. But damn 3 mil for a violin. Sounds great, so totally worth it.
Idk if anybody will understand me but personally Anne's version for me is the female persona of this masterpiece. There's a gentleness, elegance, and a certain femininity in this rendition. I have yet to find a male counterpart...
Is her A tuned to like 450hz?
***** I know ,right
+bittechslow Just checked with my 440 tuning fork, and it's just a little higher than the fork - maybe 442 or so. That could be how the piano was tuned or it could be the youtube transfer
Wish i can learn from you.
I can never get tired of listening to this piece. Not sure why but i prefer the Molitor to Guaneri
Hello Jin cha. Yes i agree with you. This violin speaks
Well, it's gorgeous and all that, but she does not appear to be playing the Wilhelmj arrangement which lies all on the G-string. It looks like she is wandering around on the D-string and the A-string. Lovely playing and a magnificent instrument!
Why is it called Air on a G String?
An "air" is simply a melody. According to Wikipedia, "The title comes from violinist August Wilhelmj's late 19th century arrangement of the piece for violin and piano. By transposing the key of the piece from its original D major to C major and transposing the melody down an octave, Wilhelmj was able to play the piece on only one string of his violin, the G string."
What position does Anne start in ?
5th
Less notes but full of emotions
What about the G string? I thought it was written for the G string.....
$ 3,600,000. for a top flight violin. We pianists whine about $85,000 Steinways and $235,000. Bosendorfers.
$3.6 million on your shoulder doesn't lie lol in serious note, akiko meyers is wonderful :)
Does anyone know what strings she use
Daniel evah pirazzi gold
Daniel
Yes , The ones on the violin
Well, not really...
My fiddle's open "A" sounds much better than this. I won't say how much i paid for it.....Very nice performance. So sensitive. Bravo!
It was sweet of the audience to hold its applause....
Qué pretensión tan ridícula la tuya
O gosh... that open A out of tune.. and that look at the pianist saying: „Why on earth you haven’t tune your piano!?”... ;)
