Nice video. All your videos are very clear and methodical. Question about this one though....wouldn't be easier to just order a new set of speakers? Crutchfield lists a lot of brands, including JBL, if you wanted a direct brand replacement.

Thank you - great question! After reading multiple threads on this subject, it seems that replacing the cone might be the optimal choice unless you're prepared to allocate significantly more resources, both💲and⏱️, to upgrade the amp and other components.
To give you a brief overview, here are some challenges that might arise:
      1) Factory speakers typically operate at 2.3 ohms, allowing for the use of a less powerful amp. Consequently, if you switch to the more standard 4-ohm speakers, you might experience a loss in volume.
      2) There are considerations about whether to retain or remove the factory tweeter.
      3) Installing a new speaker in the door might require modifications or special parts, indicating that even though you've purchased a new speaker, there might still be extra work or new drillings involved.
      4) If you're thinking about changing the amp, bear in mind that it's not standalone but is part of the navigation system. Hence, the correct voltages must be considered for the navigation system to function correctly - I must admit, my understanding here is somewhat limited.
In my case, I faced two choices:
      a) Replace the cone: This is an economical option that maintains the original sound quality and, surprisingly, is quite straightforward to do yourself.
      b) Upgrade the entire system: This alternative could potentially entail significantly higher costs and require more time to execute properly.
I hope this provides a useful perspective on your question, and thanks again for the comment!

Nice! That’s great, let me know how the install goes. I ended up buying a couple more kits to have for when the other speakers when they need it. If you call the company directly, they’ll sell you multiple foam surrounds with one glue kit (there is more than enough glue for all the speakers in 1 kit). Good luck!

Really great quality video. It must take a lot of effort to get all these camera angles and edit them together!

Thanks for the comment - after looking at all of the complications with aftermarket options, the refoam seemed the best way to go.
