@@WheelinwiththeWendes well you've done very well! If my girlfriend and I get a host rig and want it set up....does Lance do contract work on other truck campers? We'd pay you guys more then accordingly if so.😁
@@travelinman482 I’m not sure what they go for now. We got a smokin deal on ours due to a mistake in paperwork so I can’t go by that. (dealership honored the mistake) I believe they’re going for $90k-$100k now. Crazy! We paid WAY less than that!
Haha! Thanks! Everyone that sees inside is always blown away that it’s “just” a truck camper. We’re very happy fulltiming in it after coming from our 5th wheel.
You have no idea! We didn’t really mind setup and tear down of the Momentum and driving wasn’t so bad. However… this has been a total game changer! It’s so much easier to move around and we can way farther off the beaten path now. For instance, tomorrow is a travel day and all we really need to do is pull in slides, raise stabilizers and start the truck! Oh, and 3 minutes to hook up Rubie. 😎
Yeah that is so cool. Basically just pull in the slides and maybe move a couple things and you’re ready to go. That’s also really good for security if you have to get the heck out of Dodge you can do it a lot quicker!
I have a 2008 Host Everest and really like the space & dry bath. The stickers on the outside are pretty bad, Alaska has alot of sunlight, not getting them is a great idea. Mine is pretty dated compared to your new one. Great video, thanks.
Holy cow! You’ve taken getting organized to a whole new level. When I grow up, I wanna be like you! My wife and I travel in a F250 with an arctic fox 865 truck camper in the back. I keep thinking about upgrading to a camper with a slide out and more storage. I’ve looked in class C’s, fifth wheels, and I keep coming back to truck campers. I’m wanting to upgrade our truck to a F450 with heavier duty suspension and all that goes with it. Plus, it would give me a very tight turning radius too. We love the fact that we can roll into just about any town and park just about anywhere. I also love not having to hunt out fuel stations that will accommodate a big rig. So truck campers it will be as long as we can continue to climb into them. I wish I had the skills and knowledge to do the electrical and plumbing like you do… that would save me a bunch of money. I have skills just not in that arena. I’m very happy for you guys. You put together a very nice rig and set up. May you have many happy trails and adventures ahead. May your photo album be filled with memories?
Thank you! We are still loving the flexibility and mobility of our truck camper. One thing to note, every slide just adds more weight. Fully loaded ours is 7400 pounds.
Went from 5th wheel to Class A to Arctic fox on 1 ton Ford and the next will be a Host 3 slide. No more trailer park to trailer park! Electric bikes and this set up is the best.
That's a wonderful setup and we enjoyed getting.a personal tour of it during Lot-crawl in Salida. The only thing I might recommend is some way of securing the items in your back seat. In an accident, those items become projectiles inside the cabin. There's nothing to protect you from that large tote when it comes at the back of your head.personally I'd make sure all those items were secured down or consider a cage-like separator between front and rear seats. Like a taxi.
Flo and Lance, Most reviews of the Mammoth I've seen were new empty ones, with your review, it's a great informative video and nice to see a review with wonderful and practical upgrades and home like touches, as yours . IMHO, the Mammoth is the most spacious and nicest camper on the market . I've had my eye on that camper for a few years now and when I finally pull the trigger, I'll load it on a 5500 truck and nothing less . The 5500 will give me an extra 2-4K pound payload capacity, it's just an extra margin of safety, and I like to err on the side of caution . Thanks for doing the video, great job on the camper !! Can't wait to show my wife your video .
Thank you.! I was considering one of these for our family of 3. This helped me to make a lots of decisions along the way, as I was watching your tour. God bless you and have a wonderful time on your journeys. ❤🎉😊
Flo I love all the little great space saving conveniences that you have added to your rig like the quick drying towels, the Dyson heater, the laundry container, the soft container in the bathroom for your products. I have watched this video 4 times already, everytime I watch it I add another thing to my list. THANK YOU!!! ❤
WOW! This is SO encouraging to my wife and I! To hear you have actually moved from something as big as a 5th wheel to this means smaller can be better! It must be like having a small house or a big house where you just find yourself filling up and living in whatever size you have. Its all about adapting and its fantastic! Great choices we have already considered ourselves like deleting the oven for storage! And deleting the fireplace was perfect as well! Smart folks to purposely delete those stickers too! They always fall apart and make your camper look old before its time! And I did notice the pool noodles you put on the edge of the slide! Super smart way to keep heads from getting split open. We use the same thing on our helicopters at work where our horizontal stabilizers stick out. Nice video! I hope to do this as well one day!
That’s for sure! For us, it’s a short getaway from society for a little bit. For some, it’s a way of life. For others, it’s a barren wasteland. Different strokes for different folks.
That is an option from the factory. We opted for the small sofa so we could easily remove it and replace with a workstation since we both still work remotely fulltime. The desktop we used for the workspace is actually the "folding area" that comes with the washer/dryer option. We just ordered and repurposed it.
Very nice tour. We almost bought a Host 11.6 but when we told them we wanted to put in a composting toilet, they told us they did not want to sell us a truck camper anymore. So we ended up with a Lance 960 which is much smaller but about all we could get during Covid. New subscriber. Looking forward to following you.
What an awesome rig you have! So nice, yet small enough to be able to get around and tow your Jeep! That’s just incredible! Happy traveling and exploring! 🧭
So now every RAM 3500 Dually with a truck camper in the back is overloaded since one photo went viral? 🤣 Thanks for the unnecessary comment. The bent frame thing has been beaten to the ground already.
You guys never cease to amaze me! Lance, RVers can learn SO much from the "fine tuning" and upgrades you've done, based on your wealth of first hand experience! Well done!❤️
Hey Great Video 👏👏👏 You'll are the 1st Persons that Actually Showed that Underneath Part with the Electrical.. However, I'd use there for Water storage, and wood for a Small Furnace that would either be Close to or Over the Stove, for Winter Camping.... I ❤this Camper though... 👏👏👏👏
As fulltimers and the lack of space in such a small home, the basement is a HUGE area for storage, no matter what type. 👍🏻 Good thinking on what your use would be.
Everything looks great and well, planned out, only upgrade required imo is the fire extinguisher in the basement to an Halon automatic activated system, by the time you get to that ABC if you can, it’s game over with all that electronics and batteries in there. Our Bigfoot 25C9.4LB has served us well for 7 years. Great information video 👍🏻
Thanks, I’ll look into it. However, if those batteries catch on fire, there’s nothing that will put them out. 😄 We had a Proteng system on our last rig.
Nice you added lithium batteries, and 3,000 watt inverter is great. The propane fridge is my only question, why not upgrade to all electric fridge, they have more interior room? thanks for posting the tour.
We’d love to, as we’ve done in our other rigs. However, in order to swap it out, we need to remove a window. For right now we’re holding tight but it’s definitely in the future plans. We’d be able to go from an 8cu. ft. to a 10cu. ft. and not need to rely on propane. The other option is to convert ours but then we gain no more capacity. So much to do… LOL
I would be very careful about setting up a host camper off of the truck. The couple beside us down here in key west had there 11 6 on the Jack's about 10 inches off the ground and 2 of the happy Jack's pulled out of the camper and it collapsed while sitting off the truck. They had the stable campers braces deployed and the Jack's still pulled out of the camper. When it rolled over it missed our northern lite by maybe 2 inches. We lucked out. The 2024 host they had us a total loss.
Thanks for the info, we agree. We RARELY take ours off, only if the truck needs service. Even then, I hate it being on the jacks. The only way I can see it being safely stored off the truck is if the base itself is being supported.
Wow! Wow! Wow! That is my dream truck camper set up. You did such a wonderful job with the upgrades. Love how clean and organized you are. Happy travels.
Very nice set up. We just bought a Lance 1172 which we ordered over a year ago and picked it up in November. We aren’t full timers but love boondocking. We got two 200W solar panels plus a portable 100W one. Two lithium batteries and a propane generator. Cell phone antenna booster. We wanted the new Truma aqua go water heater but it wasn’t available until the 2023 models came out. Good job on all of your upgrades. Our camper is stored now for the winter so we haven’t had a chance yet to try it out. Cheers from Canada 👍🇨🇦

@@garyjones5093 It is. We’ve since swapped out to a RAM 5500 Cab & Chassis w/ aluminum flatbed though for the needed payload. Either way, we get about 8-9mpg when loaded and pulling our Jeep flat towed.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes . This is spooky because we’re considering a 5500 with aluminum body and a Host Yukon. I guess I really can’t talk to anyone more qualified then you folks about a similar setup. You may get more questions as we go. Thanks for all the information
Loved seeing your rig and really enjoyed all the organization. You guys are inspirational. One question, with all the sliders in, can you still access everything one needs for a quick stop?
I am so happy for you. That you are able to do all of the things that you have to upgrade your unit. I am sad that I am not blessed with the ability to do the same. I would hire you to do this for us. Smile. You are blessed. Be thankful. We also live in AZ. 😊
Great video, love all the things you've done and definitely took some notes here for my Everest! Really hoping you'll be at the rally next month, would love to see this rig in person! Safe travels you two!
Thanks! We’ll be there! Actually already in Q. Look forward to meeting everyone. Be sure to stop by in the afternoons since we’ll also be working. Sure you won’t miss the solar panels. LOL
Awesome job you two! Definit Subscribe & Thumbs Up! I have a double slide Okanagan 11.6 ULT that has been a real game changer for travel. But This HOST Camper is really something to drool over! That is by far the sweetest looking set-up I have ever seen! Can't wait to follow some of your adventures! Happy New Year Wendes!
Great video and thanks for sharing your home. I've made note of several of your modifications to install into our Mammoth also. One thing you could do with the morgue door is to remove the whole door and frame and flip it to open up vice down to open up clearance on the bottom. Then just add a bracket to hold the door open. We're heading for Quartzite in a few weeks, maybe we'll see you at the Truck Camper Rally? Happy Camping!
Thanks! We’ve made many more upgrades over the last year and will be doing another video shortly. We will be at the rally also, along with the one in Washington later in the year. We’ve since upgraded the truck to a 5500 Ram with a flat bed and had it painted white. Stop by and say hi! I’ve thought about flipping the door also but added chains to keep it as a “table”.
The storage cubes were from WalMart and the fan was from Amazon. Less than $100 and super easy to install. It works soooo much better without replacing the entire unit. Vortex Ii Vent Fan Upgrade www.amazon.com/dp/B017C0RLP2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
No reach at all. The keyboard and mouse are on a tray that slides out and raises/lowers/pivots if needed so sitting on a stool they’re right over my legs, as if I was sitting under a desk. Works really well!
LOVE IT!!!! Love the color scheme, the organization, the decoration (FLO), and the convenience!! We are so happy for you! Roger is jealous concerning the solar system! WOW! You guys are rocking this lifestyle!! ENJOY YOUR TIME!! MISS YOU BOTH!!
Thanks! We’re slowly making it our own. It was hard leaving our Momentum after getting it right where we wanted it after 4 1/2 years but we have so much more freedom now, and way less more stuff!
We are currently in a bunkhouse travel trailer, but we are more stationary because it’s difficult to move it around. I want to travel more, so I’m thinking about downsizing into a Host, which is the best cabover far and away. One thing I think I’ll miss is our deep freezer lol. I only have to shop once a month and then a smaller shop every other week with all the kitchen pantry space, residential size fridge and deep feeezer we currently have. I also just worry my husband and I might get sick of one another being in such tight quarters. What do you miss most about your fifth wheel? I think the traveling we could do by switching to a host would be worth it, but I’m not sure….
For us, the swap was absolutely worth it. The ability to be more nimble is so nice! We’re going to be doing a video on the pros & cons of the switch for us so I don’t want to give away too much but I can say this, neither of us regret our decision. One comment we always make about fulltiming in an RV is that you can love your partner but you have to LIKE them to do this. LOL

Thanks! We’ve since made even more changes. Eventually we’ll do another video. Probably at one year.
Fantastic job!!!
Thanks! We’ll be doing a 1 year review and upgrade video in August.
@@WheelinwiththeWendes . I assume that is a Cummins diesel. What do you get for fuel mileage if you don’t mind me asking
@@garyjones5093 Bring it on! Happy to help!
Thank you!
You betcha!
I love your van❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks! We do too! It really fits the bill for us at this point.
good job
Everybody needs to have a safe trip
Stay tuned… new truck video to come.
Nice upgrades! Thanks for the lessons
Thanks! Always willing to share our experiences.
I did the same with the decals, heat gun and a razor takes off the host decals 😊
You guys are made for this lifestyle
It definitely takes the right person and not just anyone. We’re lucky to both want this lifestyle. 👍🏻
This is the coolest set up. Good for y’all.
Great job on your new setup! Happy Holidays!
Thanks! Same to you!
Loved seeing your rig and really enjoyed all the organization. You guys are inspirational. One question, with all the sliders in, can you still access everything one needs for a quick stop?
We could barely squeeze through to get in the bed but that’s about it. No refrigerator access.
I am so happy for you. That you are able to do all of the things that you have to upgrade your unit. I am sad that I am not blessed with the ability to do the same. I would hire you to do this for us. Smile. You are blessed. Be thankful. We also live in AZ. 😊
Thanks! It seems we’re always piddling around and upgrading things. LOL
Wonderful tour and rig! Thank you so much for sharing. 🎉 Happy New Year to you both 🎉
Thanks and you’re welcome! Happy New Year to you also!
Nice work!
Thanks! We seem to constantly be making upgrades. LOL
Very impressive rig! Thanks for the tour!
Most welcome! Thanks!
Really great tour! Lots of ideas for me.
Thanks! That’s why we do this! Glad it helped!

Awesome tour, and I love the upgrades. Safe travels.
Thanks! I’m sure there’ll be more!
It’s a great camper love your upgrades. Happy travels.😊

Great layout with upgrades!
Thanks! More to come!
Beautiful rig ❤
Thank you! We’re so happy with it!
좋아요 good!!!!!
My mind is blown. This is awesome. You thought of everything. 🌹
Thanks so much! There’s one BIG thing we didn’t think of. Stay tuned!
nice job
❤ Beautiful camper inside thanks for tour folks
Thanks so much!
LOL
This is amazing! This is my kind of truck camper!!!
Thanks! We are absolutely LOVING it!!!
Thanks! I’ll have to check yours out. I’ve never heard of it. We really are loving it!
Any chance you have a link for the bathroom exhaust fan and the storage cubes? Thanks.
The storage cubes were from WalMart and the fan was from Amazon. Less than $100 and super easy to install. It works soooo much better without replacing the entire unit. Vortex Ii Vent Fan Upgrade www.amazon.com/dp/B017C0RLP2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
It would be perfect if you guys can make a video about the details of the electrical system.
It’s coming!!! Maybe next week.
Could put the "desk" on drawer sliders so it would pull out and he could sit under it like a normal desk instead of in front of it and reach.
No reach at all. The keyboard and mouse are on a tray that slides out and raises/lowers/pivots if needed so sitting on a stool they’re right over my legs, as if I was sitting under a desk. Works really well!
very impressive setup
I am in love with your mammoth camper!❤️
So are we! More importantly, we’re in love with the freedom it brings us! 👍🏻
Love it my friends heading out to the desert myself at the end of the year funny you mentioned Yuma ☀️☀️☀️
Thanks! Enjoy! We’ll be back down there in the middle of February.
LOVE IT!!!! Love the color scheme, the organization, the decoration (FLO), and the convenience!! We are so happy for you! Roger is jealous concerning the solar system! WOW! You guys are rocking this lifestyle!! ENJOY YOUR TIME!! MISS YOU BOTH!!
Thanks Tina! Miss you guys!
This is a perfect home!
It is for us! Thanks!
Absolutely amazing build, very elegant as well. 😎🙏💖
Thanks! Still more to do to make it “ours” but really happy with it!
Love your home
Thanks! We’re slowly making it our own. It was hard leaving our Momentum after getting it right where we wanted it after 4 1/2 years but we have so much more freedom now, and way less more stuff!
Love the color scheme have!
We love the southwest, after living in Maryland all our lives so it was a no-brainer for us.
LOL
Admire the custom work!
Thanks!
