Yonaka exhaust sounds really really good actually IF YOU ADD A RESONATED TEST PIPE. Trust me on that, just truuuuuust me. Its what i did on mine and it got rid of the raspiness the exhaust has, and its slightly louder. Dont do a flat straight pipe, that gives it the nasty rasp, resonated test pipe both makes it slightly louder and it makes the rasp go away.
@@SpiritDriven keep an eye out for one called “obx resonated test pipe” for miata. Thats the one im using on my 1.6 and it fits perrrfect. The other one i know for a fact fits really well and resonates perfectly well is the isr test pipe, but sadly that one is only sold with the full isr exhaust :/. I searched on ebay and theres only the base test pipe, but DO NOT mix the non-resonated test pipe with the yonaka lol. I tried it, and instantly went to look for a solution. The rasp on it gets baad like noticeably bad. Any resonated teat pipe should do, but trust me, its gotta be resonated lol.
Ur videos just keep getting better and better. You deserve way more subscribers but it’s not all about that, ur content is super good as is keep it up!
Pretty sure the $400 exhaust is going to be overall better, even if it doesn't sound as beefy. I'll edit this comment if I'm wrong but I think its going to sound far better than the $40 one.
Hell yeah. A lot of people also don't realize that a lot of the more expensive exhausts are a bit quieter than their cheaper counterparts because those manufacturers expect the buyer to install other mods like a larger downpipe which also increases volume.
Fckn love these vids guys! I just got a project Miata to fix up and paint and get goodies for.. etc. so thank you guys for the inspiration 🙂! Y’all are the first channel I’ve binge watched this heavily 😅😂 love what y’all are doing so keep it up! ❤️🙏🏼
hey sal! i started watching you 2 years ago when i was first looking to get my miata as my first car and ive had it for like a year and a half now and i wanted to thank you for being the best underrated miata youtuber. also i just bought a manzo catback and it sounds amazing but the drone is pretty bad. do you think a second resonator on the mid pipe would help? or any other ideas :)

Nice video man! First time watching a video of yours! 😁
I have a Yonaka on my 1.6, and I've always loved it. I can say however, I sold it to my friend when my car stopped working, and he did a cat delete, and got Raceland headers, and that car sounded AWFUL. I kept the stock car and header, and when I rebuilt my engine, I bought another one, and the car sounds amazing. The clean tone goes away and turns into nothing but rasp. Maybe it was the Raceland header, and not the cat delete, but I have a feeling it was the cat. Anyways, great video! But I'd try a test pipe on 1 car first.
That’s interesting Definitely going to just try one at first and we’ll go from there I have a feeling the headers are the cause of the raspy sound But we won’t know till we try it out! Appreciate your input!! ❤️🤘🏼
Wasn't really sure what to expect, didn't really have a prediction, but overall I think the Yonaka sounds a tad better and more balanced. I like that the J2 is a bit louder overall but I think it's just that it's on the 1.8. Can't really beat the price of the J2 considering it's one tenth of the price of the Yonaka, but like you said the fitment seems to be a slight issue. My dream exhaust is the ISR Circuit Spec system but costs $150 more than the Yonaka lol, and in my opinion $400 is already enough. My 1997 M Edition is running on factory exhaust (it's rusty) except for the muffler. I would go for something between the price range of the J2 and the Yonaka for myself, as I wouldn't wanna spend more than $300 on an exhaust. I guess you gotta pay to play, though. Great video btw!
I decided to get rid of the J2, the sound is amazing but the fitment is so shite and the droning drove me nuts. I got a cobalt dual exhaust and it's hitting the drive axle flange so FML 😂
I have the yonaka, it sounds amazing. But after breaking in, it was too much drone for me and went back to stock. Looking to go with roadster sport 4 with helmholz resonator for the next round.
@@SpiritDriven yeah I have a cat, but its the OEM from 1990 so who knows how effective it is lol. Dunno if it was just my yonaka; my buddy's has no drone but I've put way more miles on mine, prolly about 1000
cat deletes for sure, have not cat on my Miata and it gives the car the ability to burble a little and pop/backfire easily. Raceland headers are great too if you can find them still, they have discontinued the 1.6 header shortly after I bought mine but you can probably find a used one, they sound great, look great and fit great
@@SpiritDriven full on cat delete will be better for sound and less raspy, i had mine custom made, most shops wont do it if your removing a cat, i recommend finding a welder and having one custom made, cheapest and easiest route
i love the wheels on the blue yata brotha and for exhaust i would hope just cuz the price that yanaka would sound fire butt tbh i wanna hope the cheap one will sound good to as to have selection for ppl depending on there budget ... me personally i have a hood dump straight off the spoolie boi lol ... n e ways peace n love yal stay safe build on and have a blast ps. great content my guy ✌

@@SpiritDriven Awsome! Now I don't have to spend the money to know if I actually want to run them xD and I think they increased the price on the yonaka, I bought mine a year ago and it was $300 back then.
Why is everything so damn hard to work on laying down? Except when you are six feet under. GET A LIFT ALREADY! (sarcasm) but its not that bad after all.
After we do a couple things to the garage like epoxy floor, better lighting, and some compressed air! Looking into quick jacks for a semi-permanent fix to that
the good ol lifter tick on the m edition, haha
Appreciate all the angles and sound clips. That blue NA looks brutal to drive though 😭
Thanks Ollie!
And man it’s soooo rough 🤣
The hit marker when the exhaust hits sal in the face had me joked😂 love you guys❤️

I bought a $135 exhaust for my nb2 sounds great for the money I paid it's listed on eBay as a mutazu something like that
