Jamal is a true student of the game and his pairing with Jokic is just magic. While he has all the skills of a top guard in the NBA, his cerebral mentality separates him from many others and explains his playoff success. I remember seeing articles about him while he was in high school where he would be meditating and visualizing the game before it even started. To be that dedicated as a teenager convinced me he was gonna succeed in the NBA. Him and SGA are the pride of Canada Basketball, with many more to come.

I have never understood the whole “the nuggets aren’t fun to watch” narrative. Personally, the nuggets and, more specifically, Jamal and jokic have damn near ruined nba basketball for me. The nuggets offense is so beautiful and flows so perfectly, with jokic and Jamal’s 2 man game being a work of art that by comparison, other nba team’s offenses look so clunky and forced to where it is almost painful to watch them play on that end.

@@kuruptzZz I admit, I was one of those guys that went meh on the Spurs. Though to be fair, the Spurs played damn good basketball but their villains turned me off (Bowen and Horry for example), so I was kinda split rooting for their good guys (Admiral, Timmy, Manu, Steve Kerr).
The key difference back then was, the other teams were also playing some good basketball. I can think of the Champ Pistons, the robbed Kings, Kidd's Nets, Run and Gun Suns, even the Big 3 Celtics and the Big 3 plus Ray Allen Heat. The flood of options made it so that the Spurs' consistency was deemed too low key.
Compare that to today, and every team around the Nuggets have glaring flaws and play clunky . I'd say the team with the closest synergy with Denver are the Kings and Jazz.

@@DMSFister But because of the more optimal spacing it has encouraged players in the last 10-15 years to be more saavy with the 3-ball shot and attack defenses via the outside. Its another topic but keep in mind the NBA got a significant balance patch in 79-80' with the addition of the 3-point line. Nobody was really taking advantage of it in the 80s. There has been some advancements of play with it in the 90s and parts of 2000s but the game was still played inside out and defenses didn't have to adapt to more lateral movement. When teams like the Warriors in the 2010s became the realization of that spacing with shooting, it stressed the defense at a lateral movement that was difficult to adapt to. If anything the defenses were boned even further because the offense dictated the game plan but can pull defenses out of position further. It is also why skillsets like playmaking and shooting bigs have also become a reality.

Murray grew up playing hockey, so his watery spinning gliding flow, is a natural result of the independence of movement and RYTHM between lower body and upper body. He can have his hips and legs doing something completely different RYTHM and direction than his shoulders, head and hands.
His in-possession adaptability and even in-shot adjustability are off the charts.
His legs are almost always stronger and more rotationally able than his defenders’
His hockey experience also developed a superior sense of visual-spatial judgement for seeking space and the potential usage of that space.
He’s such a different player, but it’s hard for many to see the stuff other than what just looks “jordanesque”, which is already great in and of itself.
Hopefully, this first chip, will give him the confidence his unique combination of talents deserves.

Murray is an explosive shooter, but his best quality is his footwork. He's likely the best guard in the league in the paint, and can get around most guys just because he learned the footwork to be elite.
I am sure Kobe would have loved watching his student Murray coming into his game, Kobe had a great appreciation for foreign players and guards like himself who worked their tails off to get to be a star in the NBA. I hope Jamal keeps growing as a player, him and Jokic could have an all time great duo for 15+ years if they want to.

His verticality for his size is absurd. He was contesting AD for rebounds and finishing layups over him. Same with his strength. I don't think you showed it, but in the 4th q of game 3 there was a play where they ran the inverse pick n roll and Murray set a valiant screen on AD that let Jokic dribble around the perimeter and into the paint for a left handed push pass(?) to an open MPJ for 3. Probably one of the most insane basketball plays I've ever seen.
There's just no such thing as good defense on Murray, without giving up open shots. He'll get the looks he wants and the only thing that'll stop him is himself.

He almosts hide at times just to keep everyone else involved, not wanting to "show out". But when he is needed to take over... you can trust Jamal to make the right decisions. He's money.
