@@lgreenbey6392 ...because the skill level has risen. More people being able to make shots from further and further away means it's the natural progression of defense to space out more
@@DMSFister But because of the more optimal spacing it has encouraged players in the last 10-15 years to be more saavy with the 3-ball shot and attack defenses via the outside. Its another topic but keep in mind the NBA got a significant balance patch in 79-80' with the addition of the 3-point line. Nobody was really taking advantage of it in the 80s. There has been some advancements of play with it in the 90s and parts of 2000s but the game was still played inside out and defenses didn't have to adapt to more lateral movement. When teams like the Warriors in the 2010s became the realization of that spacing with shooting, it stressed the defense at a lateral movement that was difficult to adapt to. If anything the defenses were boned even further because the offense dictated the game plan but can pull defenses out of position further. It is also why skillsets like playmaking and shooting bigs have also become a reality.
I think this is the first piece I’ve seen that really does Jamal justice. Jokic is finally getting the respect he deserves, but now they’re starting to talk about some of the other players like they’re simply products of Jokic’s eliteness. that game 4 against the lakers is the definition of "i've your back, you've got mine" from both joker and murray. murray was hot the first 3 quarters, which kept them in the game and jokic got into a litte bit of foul trouble. but then joker led them home.
I don't know if it was intentional, but Murray has mentioned in the past that Bruce Lee is an idol of his, and I would bet "moving like water" is something he is aware of and tries to incorporate into his game. Great video, as always.
Murray grew up playing hockey, so his watery spinning gliding flow, is a natural result of the independence of movement and RYTHM between lower body and upper body. He can have his hips and legs doing something completely different RYTHM and direction than his shoulders, head and hands. His in-possession adaptability and even in-shot adjustability are off the charts. His legs are almost always stronger and more rotationally able than his defenders’ His hockey experience also developed a superior sense of visual-spatial judgement for seeking space and the potential usage of that space. He’s such a different player, but it’s hard for many to see the stuff other than what just looks “jordanesque”, which is already great in and of itself. Hopefully, this first chip, will give him the confidence his unique combination of talents deserves.
His game perfectly translates to the playoffs. Think Khris Middleton on the Bucks, but with more speed, athleticism, & consistency. He's an incredible shot creator who can create off ball.

What I find so crazy about these guys is that it's like they saw Jokic show them what kind of insane passes are possible and everyone one of them picked it up in a heartbeat. Like the ball movement on this entire team is second to none.
Murray is an explosive shooter, but his best quality is his footwork. He's likely the best guard in the league in the paint, and can get around most guys just because he learned the footwork to be elite. I am sure Kobe would have loved watching his student Murray coming into his game, Kobe had a great appreciation for foreign players and guards like himself who worked their tails off to get to be a star in the NBA. I hope Jamal keeps growing as a player, him and Jokic could have an all time great duo for 15+ years if they want to.

He looks so smooth out there. I remember when i followed hs basketball when i was also in hs. This guy showed out and was the top scorer in a top prospects game, outscoring all the top 10 or so recruits. Always been underrated since back then
I always felt like Murray's game reminded me of Kobe's in so many ways, the fluidity and footwork, the fadeaway jumpers, etc and it's funny you make the comparison to Jordan a few times in this vid. You can definitely see the through line.
The one thing I like the most about The Nuggets is their whole roster are unselfish, and let the guy who's hot cook. Jokic takes half or more of the playmaking so Jamal can focus more on scoring eventhough he's the point guard.
His verticality for his size is absurd. He was contesting AD for rebounds and finishing layups over him. Same with his strength. I don't think you showed it, but in the 4th q of game 3 there was a play where they ran the inverse pick n roll and Murray set a valiant screen on AD that let Jokic dribble around the perimeter and into the paint for a left handed push pass(?) to an open MPJ for 3. Probably one of the most insane basketball plays I've ever seen. There's just no such thing as good defense on Murray, without giving up open shots. He'll get the looks he wants and the only thing that'll stop him is himself.
The fact that he hasn't been an all star is shocking. I would like to see all the Canadians actually play together for Team Canada to see how we really stack up against the world. A Murray/SGA backcourt sounds nice.
I appreciate that you use plays that don't necessarily result in made baskets. Murray cutting and kicking out still is a great play and a great shot even if it doesn't result in a basket
Excellent dissection of The Blue Arrow's game, which is as cerebral as it is efficient. Jamal has always been a late take-the-game-over kinda player. He almosts hide at times just to keep everyone else involved, not wanting to "show out". But when he is needed to take over... you can trust Jamal to make the right decisions. He's money.
Said it before ill say it again , murray would be considered a top 15 talent if he didnt get injured , mans is the true definition of a #2 that can up the ante in the playoffs and take on that HIM role if warranted 💯💯🎯

Watching him emphasize Murray's movement, makes me think of how unstoppable a Jokic-Curry link up would be.
Sure. Curry can come over and be our backup guard. 🤝
murray and jokic are such an entertaining combination of players. their pick and roll game is completely filthy
I like how you include plays that don't finish good at the end if it shows your point. Great job!
It’s called a Murray Flurry
that game 4 against the lakers is the definition of "i've your back, you've got mine" from both joker and murray. murray was hot the first 3 quarters, which kept them in the game and jokic got into a litte bit of foul trouble. but then joker led them home.
That was game 3.
Game 2 was the other way around.
And game 4 they both killed it.
Jokic + prime (or probably current) Curry would be *hilarious*
I don't know if it was intentional, but Murray has mentioned in the past that Bruce Lee is an idol of his, and I would bet "moving like water" is something he is aware of and tries to incorporate into his game. Great video, as always.
About fucking time this guy starts getting some recognition
Murray is LITERALLY the PERFECT fit for The Joker
Dude Murray Three point shots are ELITE!!
His legs are almost always stronger and more rotationally able than his defenders’
His hockey experience also developed a superior sense of visual-spatial judgement for seeking space and the potential usage of that space.
He’s such a different player, but it’s hard for many to see the stuff other than what just looks “jordanesque”, which is already great in and of itself.
Hopefully, this first chip, will give him the confidence his unique combination of talents deserves.
This phenomenon really started in Game 2 of his first playoff series against the spurs. It's just continued from there
The man deserves to be an all star
an all NBA player who has not been an all star
There really is so much Kobe in his offensive game. The way his jump shot looks, his midrange post game, it’s beautiful to see.
His game perfectly translates to the playoffs. Think Khris Middleton on the Bucks, but with more speed, athleticism, & consistency. He's an incredible shot creator who can create off ball.
But with more this this and that… So not Khris Middleton then. Middleton is trash btw not even close to Murray. More of a 3rd option.
@@OwskiiiGaming nah Middleton was cooking, bruh had 40 in the finals 2021, that knee injury hampered him tho
@Houston Plexas Khris Middleton averaged 24 6 5 on 47% Shooting in the 2021 Finals. And he played very well outside of Game 2, 3.
@@thomassankara1391lol dude bad comparison imagine comparing a real Hooper like Jamal Murray to a casual like khris Middleton lol Jamal Murray plays like a Young Ray Allen and Jamal Murray is carrying jokic he could win Finals mvp and bucks only won in 2021 becase giannis inured kyrie
@@thomassankara1391khris Middleton has never been as athletic as Jamal Murray what a insult to Murray
5:27 having MPJ on the other wing is huge too
I didn't realize he's never been an all-star. That's insane
I just want to say that you have the best analysis of the game in this youtube platform.
Love watching Jamal play. I feel bad that he got hurt just as he was starting to become a true star, but its amazing seeing that he didnt lose that grit or ability to just explode in high pressure scenarios. Hes gotta be an all star next year!!
Jamal Murray's name does not come up enough among NBA fans. Dude is terrifying, especially in combination with Jokic.
Love your videos man! Would love to see one on the growth and improvement of MPJ
As a lakers fan this hurts my soul deeply, but Jamal is truly incredible
Jamal's been my favorite PG to watch ever since the Jazz series in 2020
What I find so crazy about these guys is that it's like they saw Jokic show them what kind of insane passes are possible and everyone one of them picked it up in a heartbeat. Like the ball movement on this entire team is second to none.
Murray doesn't get enough credit with how well the Nuggets are doing. I hope he gets more recognition moving forward
They were such an underrated duo. Glad they're showing how good they are in the playoffs.
Lol... I love that line at 10:50 '...and you do NOT want to be guarding this guy when he starts talking to himself...'
I LOVE Jamal Murray. The only way I can describe him is hardcore.
Just like the bj video?
another would be sloppy toppy
Lmao😂
They’re called “Murray Flurries,” my dude ❄️
Him and jokic play so well together it’s really a perfect combo he’s super slept on. Him and Brunson are both all stars
Fantastic analysis / editing!! 💯💯
I wish we lived in a world in which people who enjoy basketball cared more about the games rather than narratives, if mainstream sports analysis was like this it would be amazing, they're too concerned with "entertainment"
So basically, Curry Jokic would literally be unstoppable
Murray Jokic is already unstoppable. Replacing him with Curry would be Shaq-Kobe 2, Electric Boogaloo
When warriors beat denver last year, they should beg jokic to hop on the bus smh....
@@monke-mk5cause they definitely need the size
@@antoniotrivelloni8191 yea that would be the ultimate shaq-kobe pairing for the modern era. Not that fraud embiid-harden pairing that led to failure after failure.
Just stop it, don't make us dream 😂
These breakdowns are the best in the entire sports mediasphere. Nothing in football/soccer holds a candle to it, I wish we had access to this level of analysis.
I seriously hope Denver win the championship this year. What a team ❤
This is some beautiful basketball 🥲
Legend has it, D Lo is still practicing his shots on Floor
He looks so smooth out there. I remember when i followed hs basketball when i was also in hs. This guy showed out and was the top scorer in a top prospects game, outscoring all the top 10 or so recruits. Always been underrated since back then
I always felt like Murray's game reminded me of Kobe's in so many ways, the fluidity and footwork, the fadeaway jumpers, etc and it's funny you make the comparison to Jordan a few times in this vid. You can definitely see the through line.
These videos are dope asf!!! Your commentary for these are awesome!! Clean and clear, and your breakdowns are lit!!
I don’t even watch basketball that much but really enjoy this guy analyses
The Beauty Of The Game ❤
"How did every team get a Steph Curry but this one?!?!
- LeBron James - Mark Phillips - RDCworld1
You always have the best breakdowns fr
Jamal and Jokic have some of the best chemistry of any duo I’ve ever seen
Congratulations! This channel has by far the best basketball analysis, and I can't wait for the next video.
Murray is exploding. This game is so easy and simple when you have Jokic.
The Bruce Lee quote about water is SO accurate. Steph and Kyrie are the other two that come to mind.
Kyrie is 2nd only to Shai at the rim for guards
I was literally salivating watching this. Jamal Murray is a damn superstar
Murray has a FILTHY stepback
That mike breen call synced with Murray’s lips at 1:07 was soo pure
Jamal "The Adjustment" Murray will go off at any time. Dudes a walking nuclear reactor with how hot he can get.
Aaron Gordon Bruce brown and KCP are all so valuable to this run, team is so deep can’t wait for the finals
