    Rotting Christ is a hugely underrated and unique band in the genre! It's sad why not more people know about them, but it goes to show, you don't judge a band by its name! ;) Check out the album Sanctus Diavolos for more great stuff by them

    The sond is called ThrEnody (wailing ode - Greek : Θρηνωδία) Since they are my fellow countrymen and have gone through more than a few interviews of them ( mostly since the early 90's ) that's exactly the reason they chose the name for.Shock value but not for the reasons you think.Religion , as all forms of power , is corrupted thus rotten hence the name Rotting Christ.Another good listen is the cover they did for "Four horsemen" by Aphrodites Child to pay tribute to another great Greek band from the 60's-70's. ruclips.net/video/lIbnW_6SYX4/видео.html

    Thanks for checking it out. Yeah name can throw you off, but if you fight that feeling away then you got a great gem of a metal. Theogonia was released in 2007. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Rotting Christ has a deceptive name, its music and lyrics are quite deeper and more mature than the name implies. Quite a nice example of musical mysticism and occultism

      The name merely denies the resurrection. It is no more than that .

    I introduced myself to Rotting Christ back in 2007 and instantly became a fan. The first song I heard will always be my favourite, Serve in heaven.

    I was surprised by them too, they have a groove that's absent from a lot of heavy music.

    Man i like how you think!! i mean about there name and it is may or may not served a purpose,
    but! what i'm sure of is that i'm happy to have more and more people like there music, they have well deserved the attention they are building unfortunate too late , only because of there name

  • @Hellenicheavymetal

    Greece was a very strict and religious country back when they formed. That was the reason of their name. Their parents werent religious at all however.

    • @innosanto
      @innosanto 3 года назад

      No Greece was not strict when they were formed. But it was a trend to just be against Christianity. The only thing, the ancient Greek religion was oppressed, and still is oppressed.
      But no it was not very strict, and this is why they have had such great success in Greece since their start (and internationally of course), there were many bands then like Behemoth as well. Maybe Greece was like this in 1950, but post 1974 Greece has mostly been in state of anarchy and little enforcement of law.
      Bejng against Christianity was a trend then that came also from the groups of abroad, there were even satanists then doing sacrifices, of course rotting christ was just the freedom part and not other parts.

    Since Rotting Christ is a greek band, i would recommend a reaction to Septicflesh - "Martyr" or "Portrait of a Headless Man". Also, one of their most famous song is "Persepolis" (but it has no music video).
    PS I really enjoy your videos!

    I became a fan Rotting Christ from their old 1990-s albums (especially from Triarchy of Dead Lovers). I liked them and early Hellenic black metal bands who played cool romantic, atmospheric but still true black metal bands. Sometimes I go refresh with Hellenic black metal because I tired of this grim and evil Scandinavian, European and other countries blacm metal bands. Earlier I did not want to listen more later Rotting Christ but after such songs like Threnody I can change my mind.

    "Rotting Christ" has been around for a very long time (since the early 90's at least, i bought a number of albums from them in the 90's). They started out as a straight up Black Metal band (which is probably where the name comes from), though i've lost touch with them since that time period (their music changed..or maybe i did).

  • @MetalAtog
    @MetalAtog 6 лет назад +2

    Back in the day they had a rawer Black Metal sound that you were expecting. But since then they changed a lot, for period they had a softer Gothic Metal sound but returned to a heavier sound like in this song, this song is actually from 2007, the "Theogonia" album is my personal favorite of them.

    Back in the 70s I remember thinking, "Black Sabbath, well there's a name designed purely to shock and annoy people." In the 80s I remember thinking, "KISS, with Nazi SS runes, that's designed to shock and annoy people." Actually I never liked KISS. (My apologies for coming in late to this video) btw According to Rotting Christ's Face Book page they were about 16 when they came up with the name.

    I discovered Rotting Christ 2016 and mostly like then records from the 10 last years. By now you might have research more about them. But if not, they are from Greece and they've been around for a long 20+ years and started out as a black metal band but have over the years become more fascinated and interested in different kinds of dark religions. I believe one or two albums of the more recent years are inspired by the Mayan and Aztecs religions. This is the first reaction video I see with you and don't really know what to expect, except that you like some metal since I found out about you via Vin & Sori. Good job!

    Ofc the name is to provoke, childish as u call it or not. Most bands from that era made similar names to provoke and to get metal fans to "discover" them. With other bands like Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Mayhem, Burzum, Darkthrone, Gorgoroth, Napalm Death to mention a few you cant call ur band Lore of Pastry. It was and is part of it, certain music genres often have a name genre if u like. If u ignore bands coz of their names your missing out on a lot of good music m8. It kinda proves my/your point actually, many like u ignore bands with "silly/childish" names.. and many listen and know what kinda of music its gonna be coz of the name. Thats prolly why they took that name, that and they where 18years old. And yes i know this vid is 2years old :) hehe Glad u liked the music though, even if dont like the name hehe :D

    Rotting Christ are great. And your reaction was appretiated. It is a good reaction/opinion channel you got going with different views, which stands out among the "omg WoW!" reaction channels.
    I'd like to recomend a few tracks to give a go at:
    First is Vulture Industries with the track Something Vile. ruclips.net/video/jfVUhOqnLJE/видео.html
    Norwegian act with an unique sound.
    Second is In Vain with Soul Adventurer. ruclips.net/video/W9uKkY9iERQ/видео.html
    Also a norwegian band with some great releases. This track features the drummer from Leprous as a guest and is from the up and coming album which im hoping will be great as well.
    Last but definately not least is Hamferð with the track Vráin. ruclips.net/video/Bbs14Ub--_Y/видео.html
    Doom/death from the Faroe Islands with a fantastic vocalist. This track is a live recording from the Havnar Church in the city of Tórshavn. Beware 10 min long.
